There was a great article on concept art in an Aussie PC Gaming magazine recently. I think it is maybe good to get an idea of how developers use a concept artist's work. I have scanned the pages for you to look at. Note what the Devs say about the importance of concept art. :)

I completely agree, infact Concept Artist is my goal, which is why if I am accepted to Ringling School of Art and Design(sent in my application) I am going to be taking a Minor in Visual Development, which is basically another word for Concept Art. To me its probably the most intrigueing art job I could think of, besides maybe teaching it, and neither of them gain much renown but then, that doesn't matter, personally the effects or obvious in awesome games.
