ermm... That was supposed to be explore music. I would like to give the dungeon music a more foreboding feel to it.

Combat music is still a problem- since last I heard area specific combat music is impossible. In light of that- I dont know if we should do any combat music for HF (I say this hoping someone will prove me wrong)

This is, btw, a wip- I'll make sure it's at least 2-3 minutes in the end.

Aye, Nedic Voices is a little mysterious akin to dungeon music, or the kind of night-time music you got in Daggerfall, I love the instruments used.

I completely missed the daedra sounds you made! I like them, especially the death noise. They're pretty creepy and the incomprehensible speech is intriguing. What sounds did you mix to make them?

As for area specific music, can we make explore music area specific? If we cant make any music area specific, we could put in the readme that people could decide to backup the stock music and leave only the Hammerfell stuff in there to get the intended experience.

From what I understand- area specific explore and dungeon music is easy.

The odd stiringed instrument in Nedic voices is a viola- with some effects added to it.

The vaernima deadra was all my voice and effects :)

No, you dont have to be a member. I'm not sure what to tell you, putfile goes wonky for people sometimes. Try again some other time is the only advice I can offer. Also- you could try DLing it.

howdy yall- long time no post, eh?

http://www.savefile.com/files/924551

Not for Goldmoor, not done. But I was just trying to get back into composition after my long break.

I'm trying something different than putfile for Jedak's sake.

This week on Wednesday I moved to Boston so I've been really busy. I have a problem now- I only have one desk that I have to share with my lovely fiancee who is doing a masters degree online... so I can only use the computer when she's not. Hopefully I can find a way to make this work- since I wont have the moeny to get a new desk for some time.

Thanks Macar :)

My advise: Keep working on it! This would be a very good track for Hegathe or maybe Gilane. Its very interesting, which is what makes it a good civilisation track so far. I think that the symabal was a little too early in the piece, if you are about to move on to a different mood next. Keep it consistent but don't let it bore.
Good Luck!

Well, blast it all! Putfile has lost all but three of my files for the second time. This is the last straw! I'm looking for another place to host my music from now on. Any ideas? I'd like somwhere that I can actualy keep track of what I've uploaded- unlike savefile (the site I'm using in the mean time) which is like throwing your files into the ocean.

PLEASE- if anyone has a coppy of Vaernima's lullaby please send it to me! I have the Sibelius files for everything else I wrote- but that one was audio only. [/PLEASE]

Anyway, I'm still trying to get back in the swing of composing. Here's my latest. It's explore, I was thinking of it for Goldmoor, but maybe not.

i saw this site today. http://www.snapdrive.net/

it's free and can create mp3 playlist in a flash player.
only problem is that you can't send the list, but you get the embed code to set up on your blog/myspace whatever.
it has a 2 gb storage and a 150 meg file upload limit

maybe worth looking up..

I'm working on rerecording all my stuff. I'm going to return to Putfile because I havent found an alternative I like. but I'll keep backup copies on my computer incase they screw me over agian. Also- I'll make sure that those who cant work putfile get to hear the peices too.

This may take some time- but it's a chance to reorganize.

My grueling work is at last complete!

http://www.putfile.com/dalzay is finaly back in buisiness. Things arent quite in the same order as they were, but it should all be there. If you dont see something that you remember let me know.

I hope to post several of these somewhere else so that some of our memebers (His name rhymes with Chedak) can see them to. :D

Ps- I now have a new computer with a nice RAM so recording my peices is going to be a lot easier.

Sounds like a suspicious person, must keep my eye out for him...

Nice job Macar :)

I think the best way to avoid them disappearing is to listen to them at least once every week or so. I think if left inactive they get taken off.

Also, if you fancied doing peeps a huge favour and making a .rar'd music pack available to the internal forum or something, everyone could enjoy them offline ;) (Putfile don't seem to let you download anymore :()

So... I got delayed. I actualy just started school- but here they are:

http://media.putfile.com/untitled-goldmoor-WIP

No clue what to call that one.

http://media.putfile.com/Fieldstar-reworking-WIP
http://media.putfile.com/-growing-vine

I'm trying to revise these two so they can actualy get used. I've made them more active then they were.

Are they intended to sound similar? They all sound very nice, but it sounds like it's just three copies of the same track, except with a different chord progression

They all flow nicely with each other but I'm definately not hearing three versions of the same track.

The reworking of fieldstar sounds alot more "tender" now - delicate - I really like it but I'm afraid it might sound abit too "poncey-classical"? (sorry - that was all I could think of to describe it) It sounds really beautiful though and I'd love to hear the rest of it rather than just the shorter sample you posted.

Very nice tracks Macar! I can definitely hear an improvement every time you post a new track! About them all sounding so similar: what's this fetish of yours about a-minor? Try not to put all your pieces in the same key. Especially if the pieces are this static and rely heavily on pedal tones. I can hear an ringing E throughout most of all three pieces, I guess that's what makes them feel very static and similar. The original OB soundtrack has most explore tracks in different keys, which also serves to give the player a feeling of moving from one place to another.

Do you have the fabled skill of perfect pitch, wogya?

I somewhat have it. What I mean from that is that it is ussually only a second/minor 3rd wrong :)

Good to see you back again!

Ah! you caught me! :D

Yes, I always compose in A minor (though D dorian is also overused by me). What's the fetish? No accedentals! Anway- you are right, I didnt take the time to think what the peices would sound like back to back- I just wrote them one at a time. I'm going to play with transposing it, but I'm a little worried about what that's going to do in the registers.

And I'm interested about what Haplo said. You see, my biggest focus with goldmoor has been unity, since the last TR music release was so bagatelle. Perhaps I have gone a little too far? The peices sound distict to me, but I'm too close to them to judge well. I'll play around with transposing them and see if that helps.

btw- Wogya, thanks for the compliments. It means a lot comming from you.

And it doesn't mean anything from me? :)

I never thought that the HS&M would have such a bad habit of only using one key! I only was given the sib files of a few of your tracks so I could just realise but I did notice your overuse of D dorian -- espessially in NV, I would've expected to hear at least a few key changes in something so exotic :)
Forgetful Macar wrote:And I'm interested about what Haplo said. You see, my biggest focus with goldmoor has been unity, since the last TR music release was so bagatelle. Perhaps I have gone a little too far? The peices sound distict to me, but I'm too close to them to judge well.
I thought we came to the agreement that to find the sense of unity you would compose a few unique pieces for Goldmoor (1-2 more) then when we both have enough to work from we will go on an composing explosion and produce a few mixed (unified) baybies, then we pick the prittiest (sp?) as the 'Goldmoor tracks'. These (as we agreed) can include the 'unique' ones since the others connect to them. Take NV and HL for an exaple, they don't sound like each other -- but then take NR and DL (desert life, what your making) for an example since they branch off from others (DL is HL ala Macar and NR is a mixture of NV and TPMT ala Jedak).

Thus we have unity in our tracks.

Well, what I meant that even the peices I wrote alone for the last release where quite different from eachother. Here I was trying to create a sound that could be associated with Goldmoor. Blending peices was more about blending with eachother- so that the music wouldnt sound like too many different styles.

I will post desert life soon- so that people can hear what you are talking about. It's basicaly just an Arabesque version of the same theme- for one of the more deserty towns.

Wogya, in his continued service to TR, has been giving me some helpfull advice on my peices since he joined. Now, he has been looking with me at the "voice leading" in one of my peices.

Take a look at a new version of an old favorite. Ladies and Gents- Hymn to Tiber Septim: Written by Macar, Arrangement by Wogya

Pure audio gold! It's much more moving than the previous version, the new variation of volumes, instruments etc. really bring the piece to life.

Not quite audio gold yet I think... I'm still not quite satisfied with the string sound. I made another version where I tried to make the strings sound less sampled. Let me know which version you think sound better.

I'm currently trying to learn to use my sample libraries a little better. Need them for a couple of shortfilms I'm going to score later this year. Thank you Macar for providing such an excellent piece to practise on! :D

The difference is quite subtle- but it's an imporvement.

I have to say- although it's my favorite part of the peice I'm having trouble imagining it ingame. Do you think it will work? I ask because you've played more Oblivion than me.

Yeah, I think it'll fit in nicely. Since I've been adding more fantasy music into Oblivion, I've found that anything that doesn't involve sudden/loud dramatic changes (thus making LOTR, Last Samurai and Pirate of Caribbean soundtracks all but useless :P) which are jarring to experience in gameplay, most things of the peaceful orchestral nature fit for explore music.

edit: New version is still wonderful, can't quite pick up the change either, but, yeah, s'great!
