Naming landmarks in our claims.
Hi,
Me and hermit have been working on the combined 4-17/19/20 claim and we are just putting forward the following names as being claimed for our two major landmarks.
The Mephala daedric shrine/ruin is now called,
"Ald Gah-Dun" or "First Great Darkness".
The town is called Ald Tearoth which we took over from Ashlander.
Don't know the names meaning yet so any loremasters input would be great

"Ald" definitely means something ("old" or "first" or something close). As far as I know the city of "Tear" was named after the eyeball excretion and not Aldmeris. "-oth" , as far as I know, also has no meaning. In the shrine "Ald Daedroth" in Vvardenfell, the "-oth" is used to denote the correct singular form of "daedra", which is actually a "daedroth".
If you wanted to apply meanings to these words, I don't see any reason why you couldn't. I would suggest something like "singular", "alone", "solitary", "one" or "being" for the meaning of "-oth", just because it would fit with where it is already used. As for giving an Aldmeris meaning for "tear" I would suggest something that fits with the Dres city of Tear. "Misery" comes to mind (which would make Ald Tearoth mean "Long Miserable Solitude" ). But really it is up to you, as long as it doesn't conflict with what is already there.

Trudging through the relentless Skyrim snowstorms, the lone Paladin looks on in sorrow as the land of Tamriel evolves without him; his mind occupied with other matters.

If you need to name your landmarks in your claim go right ahead. It's better to do it before submission so the reviewers know what to look for. On the meaning well others can help out better than I can.

It's possible that "Dres" means "Tear", since the city of Tear is sometimes referred to as Dres (though it could just be because it's the Dres capital... then again, no one calls Narsis Hlaalu, or Ald'ruhn Redoran). I'd speculate that Ald Tearoth is mixed in language, and means something like "Old single tear", or "First teardrop".
And Tear (and by extension Dres) might be so named because their territory gets the most rain, being so close to wet Argonia. So 'tear' might actually have a positive connotation, since Dres feeds all of Morrowind.
Of course, we could be interpreting "tear" wrong -- we're thinking 'as in to cry', while it could be 'as in I tore him a new one'.
I have kleptomania, but when it gets really bad, I take something for it.

Well, I go with Earl, it would be weird if one's capital would be called 'Misery'. Then again, it's the Dres, a bunch of dark elves led by vampires, so who knows ...
Here's my take:
Tear is both a trade city and a stronghold, against the hostile 'people' of Black Marsh. Let's see ... maybe Tear means something along the lines of "Powerful", "Power" or "Strength" in Dunmeri? Then, Ald Tearoth would be "The Old Strength", possibly referring to the nearby mephalan shrine of Ald Gah-Dun, and the daedric-worshipping roots of dunmer culture - and after all, as far as I know the Morag Tong, who have great influence in Akld Tearoth, still worship Mephala.

Well when the claims were originally made I was told they should contain Redoran settlements. However I just found the faction based map and we are clearly in Hlaalu territory.
The only thing I can suggest is that our town is based on Redoran architecture but because it is so close to the Redoran border it must have been taken over by Hlaalu in a past dispute.
That is if everyone is fine with that?

Then can I add some Daedric Ruins to my claim? They will not be big, or have an entire cell named after them, just an interior shrine and a few orc worshippers.
On claim 2-36
Cell: (34,-12)
