Ya! Motherland!

Post by Lady Nerevar »

Many of you have probably heard that I’m leaving for Russia and Belarus in a week. I’m going to visit my family, who I have not seen for at least 6 years, and to get myself a new passport since i turned 16. Besides sitting around and getting re-acquainted we plan to go to all kinds of neat historical palaces. I’ll bring back pictures and textures.

I will be gone from June 25th to August 6th. That’s 6 weeks.

Peace out. By the time I get left I expect there to be assloads of progress. I will bring back a nice Russian Whip of +5 Serf Whipping in case there isn’t. enjoy your selves without me :)

PS. last time I left for an extended amount of time i was voted moderator. *hint*hint**nudge*nudge* ;)

Sounds like quite an intersting trip. It's always fun to travel. More so if you're visiting people that you haven't seen in a while.

Well, have yourself a good time, I'm pretty sure we can hold down the fort while you are away. Good luck!

HI GUYS!

i ended up not merging anything into 0oT haplo :( the tapestries (exept for 18) and the MC arch is ready. the stirk weapons needed minor work when i left them.

at any rate, im having a great time relaxing (though checking the forums today gave me that amazing adrenalin jolt of worieng i forgot i missed). I get fed a great home-made meal 3 times a day, sleep 11 hours a night, and best of all have no responsibility :) it has been raining for 3 days strait now, but before that everything was just perfect.

it looks like yall are dealing fine w/o me, wich makes me even happier :)

You're hot at 30 degrees? 8o That's mild weather, that is. Don't come to Australia, because it'll get to over 40.

Anyway, I hope you are having fun there.

From the formula on Wikipedia, 40 degrees Celsius is 104 degrees Fahrenheit. It goes up to 45C here (113F for you wacky Americans) during Summer.

BTW: Have you Americans thought of entering the 19th Century and converting to Metric? (The 20th and 21st Centuries will then only be baby steps :) ) IIRC America is the only country in the world remaining which uses the Imperial system. I suppose it is only fitting those rebellious colonials (as opposed to us convict colonials) maintain a deep-rooted love to all thing monarchic and regnal. :]

@ Jedak: Bad choice of words. I live in South Australia and, yeah - well der, it gets that hot. You should have said "Victoria".

Actually: the metric systems says that we have to work with Kelvin. So 30 degrees C becomes 307 K. I don't know how cold 30 degrees F will be in Kelvin.

30 degrees C is actually 303 K. 30 degrees F is about 272 K (i.e. just below the freezing point of water.)

well since we are still almost on topic :D : the the decimal system that converts from feet and inches seems alot simpler to use and to program than metrics to me....

just call us americans "old-school" ;P beides: 19th Century was way better.

ozzy sucked less, Dime was alive, Fender din't own jackson, Oj was on trial, Yngwie hadn't beat up his girlfriend yet, the Scorpions came out with a "best-of" CD, and the rest of the world didn't hate the US as much :]

oh, and this:

Wrong Century. I'm talking the 19th Century/1800s - think big white wigs on fops, autocrats, classical music alive and kicking, opera shows, the first of the standing army wars, Napoleon Bonaparte, lead makeup, toxic "medicines", blood-letting and leeches the cure for everything, etc.

We're not on metrics because so many people hate change. They teach it in schools though, barely, so we won't expect any change soon.

But I have to disagree, the first century was the best, mainly because it was the best time period that can technically be a century, unless you want to get into negatives.

I mean, look at these people in it, they are all pure awesomeness

Apollonius of Tyana, Akiba, Arminius, Boudica, Augustus, Caligula, Claudius, Clement I of Rome, Domitian, Du Shi, Elisha ben Abuyah, Galba, Guangwu of Han, Hero of Alexandria, Hillel the Elder, Ignatius of Antioch, James the Just, Jesus of Nazareth, John the Baptist, Josephus, Liu Xin, Livy, Ma Yuan, Ming of Han, Nero, Nerva, Otho, Paul of Tarsus, Philo, Pliny the Elder, Pontius Pilate, Seneca the Younger, Strabo, Tacitus, Tiberius, Titus, Trajan, Vespasian, Vitellius, Wang Chong, Wang Mang

Ok, so I don't know half of them, but the Romans I know very well, and they were pure awesomeness. Even Caligula.

Oh, come on. I bet an imperial with the name, astuliminotus would much prefer if his parents named him: Claudius.

I'm sick of imperials with the names Pinarus Inventius and Alessia Inventius. Inventius! Did his great ancestor invent the hilt or something and had such a small imagination that he got 'Invent' and put 'ius' after it because everyone does?

And plus it would give more variety. We don't have to use exact Roman names. We can change them slightly.

not sayin' that 30 is burning heat. we had 40 in texas too. but its not very comfortable when its 30+ inside and you can do nothing about it.

the american system of calculation is ass. the units are irational and hard to convert. not to mention they are much less acurate then the metric system.

for example, can anyone tell me off the top of their head how many yards are in a mile?

For what it's worth, I am totally in favor of converting to the metric system. I'm just saying that having not done so doesn't impede me a whole lot.
