all those textures are very nice and realistic but they're not too realistic therefore they would not look 'out of place' in the game

Nex, may I recommend you creating a topic in the models and textures section called Nex's textures? I imagine it would have texture theme packs ready for download packed into a rar file

ill make rar packs for the files when i can. I have about 30gb of textures to upload, and of course my library if anyone wants to give it a gander.

lol.... it would probably be faster to burn black data cd's XD

i'll try to create a very nice thread in the models and textures forum for people to browse and take what they need. I'll make a few posts to start (one for brick, stone, organic, wood, decal, metal, etc.

a simple south-western european rapier

the pommel needs to be re-shaped slightly,
the handle needs a better texture,
the quillon, finial, and guard are of course unfinished, and they need more minute details.

I'm going to expiriment with using planar surfaces and transparent maskmaps to simulate litle gold wires and fancy smithwork: since it would probably jack the tris up to 8000 if I built it myself (not to mention a week)

i think it's kind of funny that I have the hardest time texturing my own models rather than other people's

The shadow is wierd... Another mental-ray experiment? ^^ The blade has a nice cold look, I like it. Even tough I prefer more run-down work

the blade is supposed to be very cold and polished: since it is a UC weapon.

I actualy dont edit any shadow properties unless im making a production rendering.

anyhoo: here is a Book I modeled in a few minutes: I've been wanting to model very high-value unique books for quests. (like stealing from the church) Powerful mage tomes and such: all with unique covers vs the recycled ones beth uses.

I was as simple as possible since clutter can really bog down the engine.

the texture was so detailed that I didn't need any more polys. (its at 408)

TR probably wouldn't use that specific model, though, due to Christ on the crucifix. A very nice texture, though. (And model, of course)

well, (not meaning to be rude) I won't spend the time it takes to perfect any model until someone says: yes we could use that: please make it. I certainly wont waste time submitting *finished* models to "enhance" my showcase when they won't be used.

I'm not asking you to make the changes, I was only stating that, if you wanted to submit it as a model for TR, religious symbols should be removed.

I did use the buttresses from the OB_CATHEDRAL as temps though because i haven't found the right design to use.

still needs:

square temple base
better minarets for the center tower
4 main minarets

I must confess that except of beautiful it's also suitable for Goldmoor. Perhaps with a few changes to match the style of the fortifications in some places and the UC's in others. Nex, I think you just untied our hands in the palace-fortress map!

this is what i like to do.

the concept also includes 4 bridges that span a man-made river. i think the building will be on a bed of rock and a surrounding moat similar to rivers in Prague I also am not putting great detail into the fortificaions for the same reason: i'd lke to see this in goldmoor.

and there needn't be any modules for this set. it will be one piece aproximately 80% the size of the imperial city: hopefully well under 200k tris. (much less than IC)

Also, if we're planning to make a bridge, we can make a unique one for this, modify it and use it all over goldmoor. Do you have already something specific for the bridge? Maybe we should get some feedback from our CA department

nothing right now: but if the CA department has input i hope they hurry. I might decide to mesh the bridges any moment now. And not to sound like an ass but i dont want to have inspiration cramped because im waiting for everybody to agree on one concept. I work in spurts (and spasms).

i cant really find quite what im looking for in a picture: but like i said: it will be surrounded by Rhine River style architecture with some goldmoor flavor.

EDIT: i think i have a good size reference: the center temple is aprox the same size as the IC arena.

AND: it is a Temple / Palace : since like rulers in said cultures are all "god-worshipping" people. the harem will most likely be located opposite the building's main entrance. the center temple/dome will be an open area like the IC council chambers.

and it will be rich. very rich. I have concept photos for R(oyal) Class clutter (plates, goblets, chests, weapons maybe) once i finish the building ext i'll start on the int (skipping textures altogether). Once i have all the meshes and special static modeled, I'll work on textures. i'll probably have OB back by the time i'm done: so i can refresh my int modding (it has been a while).

This is usualy how I work: and i'll be finishing this project wether TR decides to use it or not.

You have a nature of an individualist for sure. Despite if you'll make it by yourself, or with some sort of help of the rest of TR, it would be just fantastic to put it in game, it would be a precious in one of our maps, a famous location that everyone would like to visit

Do you think you could make a model of that first picture by Eyeball88, but also similar to the first pictures posted by Lutemoth? We want the palace of Sentinel to be recognizable as the one players knew in the past, but with a more upgraded, detailed, sleek, modernized look of a much more hi-res game.

@Haplo: Im assuming your asking me to make a second model for sentinel and not alter this one?

EDIT: if thats the case id be more happy to build both: since this really doesn't represent sentinel in any way except for the six towers.

EDIT: ahem: 8 towers. Sentinel had 8, not sure people was smoking in that thread but they convinced me it was 6 haha.

of course: since Sentinel itself was surrounded by such huge open ground it wouldn't take much to build a wall and make it an inner worldspace.

wait: does anybody know how to take screenshots in daggerfall, or run it in windowed mode?

and if this ends up being castle sentinel i think i could make it work, but i was really hoping to build the surrounding court a certain way: although the moat and bridges could certainly be used in sentinel: since in daggerfall the courtyard is a big patch of dirt. adding a new worldspace and making it rich andgrand isn't going to go against lore.
