I'm under the impression that TR's stance would be: Unless they have a bloody good reason behind 'em, they're probably best completely avoided.

indeed. skin tones have more leway, but pink/green/purple hair is a BIG no-no.

Race combinations tend not to exist too much afaik... well, kinda.

Most cross-race breeding will take the appearal (and abilities I guess) of their mother's race.

Exceptions to this are children of a vampire(s), like the Grey Prince, and age old mass cross race breeding, like between the Nedic and Aldmer that created the Breton, and possibly varied subspecies of Argonian.

Which means that most differences are either hereditary mostly from their mother, or due to environment, like sun tan... if Magnus does give out ultra violet radiation

That's a good point, but at least adding one person who takes on features of both races would be nice. (And with a Redguard and an Orc I can't help thinking that they're too different for the child not to have some features of both sides of the family). Especially if the two races historically hate each other.

perhaps a mod to change the build of male and female characters respectively.

since the men and women only have one build/bust and the in-depth face modeling availiable its kind of odd to have one body per race

Maybe it all has to do with dominant and recessive genes? The Gray Prince as an example. Maybe all of the orc traits are dominant over human traits, except for an influence over skin color which is why the gray prince may be so pale. I dunno, that's the best I can come up with.
