What do YOU do?

Post by styxman »

I'm making this topic to see where everyone stands. I want to know how many people do what kind of modding.

Just answer with the kind that you prefer to do the most.

Thrig Edit: added interiors
groz edit: also added concept art and reviewing
Thrig edit: I always considered reviewing a sub-category of the reviewed item, but now that someone has voted for it I can't edit it out...

You forgot interiors, which most of us are. Also, polls in the lounge are frowned upon.

This is rather interesting actually.

Of course you could just have a look at the user groups...

Hey is that your real picture that you're using for your avatar?

I think you're the first person to use their actual pic as an avatar.

you should go check out the GOLDMOOR and 'MC wall' threads in The "OoT Claims" forum. I'm texturing the goldmoor MC wall set right now, and i'm sure El Scummbago has some models that need texturing

I'm specialized at meshes. And I sometimes do some texturing. I have also in plan learning to animate. Lately I was also making a small MW housemod, but it was just for fun. And In october I will start my studies on computer physics. In five years I will know how to make a havok engine and that sort of things ^^

Yeah... lighten up Thrigy :P

I've been doing textures, concept art, and models around here for about the last four years... i've also done mind numbing amounts of error reporting and error fixing.

Some of the new texture guys should team up with our modellers and concept artists. We've got a few critical things which need to be developed further... such as architecture. I belive Aro is currently meshing interiors for the Goldmoor model set.

Interiors and exteriors, and reviewing them. I have also written some books and given opinions on lore.

At the moment I'm completely burnt out for modding though.

Hmm, so you did. :D AFAIK Wogya has already made a few pieces, I'm pretty sure that he has a thread lying around somewhere, but he seems to be busy at these times, so he probably won't cast his vote anyway.

I do interiors. I wouldn't say I do much though. I have my own projects. TR is too awesome not to be part of so I do a bit of work. I'm on holiday now so hopefully I can be a more active member of the team.

Ok, but why's there no Concept Art in the poll? Is this some kind of new modder-oriented meta-elitism which excludes conventional visual art from being a form of contribution to a mod? Huh?

Jokes aside, I'm mainly making concepts, occasionally some interiors, dialogue and quests. Been trying my hand at modelling recently (for the second time), but work has kept me from further practicing.

I think you use the same method as changing the title: You edit your first post. But it's a bit mean to put concept art there. Besides making interiors I like to do concept art, and I can't vote twice.

The five usergroups, by the way, are TR modder, Interior Modder, (I'm in both of those), AI/Quests, Extrerior Modders and Modelers/Texturers. Funny that there's no Sound and Music, or literature, but as concept art isn't directly linked to the mod it makes sense not to have it. Just thought I list those, though if you use them as a guidline a few people might not like it.

Why is concept art there mean?

It's all I do.

I haven't voted here, and I wasn't gonna bring it up until Gnomey said soemthing else ridiculous :P.

Concept art is completely linked to the mod. Without it you'd have a mess, which would ahve happened if people like El Scum hadn't helped organise the whole art side of the mod to integrate into the game well and to keep it consistent. And without some artists here you wouldn't ahve the vaguest idea what the style of the actual cultures that are mixed aroudn Hammerfall.

And I don't mean it seriously, as permenantly leaving isn't somethign I intend to do, but if you don't think art is linked directly to the mod why are we here?

Whatever Gnomey, it's been a while since I've been able to have a rant about one of your statements :D. Love it!
