Somehow, I posted almost 400 posts in the lounge. I must have been drunk, because I don't remember posting more than 200 posts in ANY forum, in my entire life.styxman wrote:nice. how'd that happen?

I already voted for Landscaping and now you have reviewing up.
If I do both can I vote twice?

And I miss attempting to explain the ridiculous things I say in reply to you ridiculous comments about them, Pound.
In the way it works, concept art is like being an author for the literature section of the mod. You throw out your ideas, make something, and then someone decides whether it will be used or not, the difference being, as I said, that literature will appear in the game when it's approved. What I'm trying to say is that concept art isn't really a full time job. Sometimes you are asked to draw something, but generally you just sit and wait for an idea to hit you, put that idea to paper, and then post it and let the other modders of Tamriel Rebuilt take it or leave it.
So what I'm saying is that it's set apart, and while a concept artist is a part of the project, his job there is very different from the other jobs, a black sheep as is fit for an artist. So I make myself unecessarily clear?
Well, ok, I was only looking at it from my point of view. As I said in my post, I do both interiors and concept art. And I can't vote for two things. The poll .is mean because it doesn't give the voter a possibility to fully state what he does. But that can't be helped.lb003g0676 wrote:Why is concept art there mean?
It's all I do.
Ok, here I think I worded it badly. My point was that concept art is *concept* art. It doesn't appear inside the game, or only indirectly after being turned into a texture and used as such by a texturer. Concept Art is like the stage hand of the mod. (Or manager, if you want a more grand-sounding metaphore. ) He runs around, is helpful, does his work, but isn't seen by the audience. That's what I meant when I said that it wasn't directly linked to the mod.lb003g0676 wrote:Concept art is completely linked to the mod. Without it you'd have a mess, which would ahve happened if people like El Scum hadn't helped organise the whole art side of the mod to integrate into the game well and to keep it consistent. And without some artists here you wouldn't ahve the vaguest idea what the style of the actual cultures that are mixed aroudn Hammerfall.
And I don't mean it seriously, as permenantly leaving isn't somethign I intend to do, but if you don't think art is linked directly to the mod why are we here?

Indeed we are quite similar to a professional company. Only a few things are lacking or different. Maybe one day one of us will start a company and we'll all join and make it rich taking decades to make one game

Hmm, let's see, I'm very poor with meshes, not quite as bad in texturing but still bad, I can do decent literature, I know a LOT of lore, I'm ok in quests, still need some working out but it's a tolerable level, can't do concept art for crap, I can play an instrument but that's it for music, I'm awesome at interiors, but my #1 forte would be my landscaping.
Don't say I'm out of touch

You never know, that might happen. I mean, if ob really is the last ES game, and were too stuffed accually rebuilding the whole of Tamriel, we may as well go off and make our own game, make money (the best bit) and be famous as the modding team that acended...

i think TES is pretty much over. Beth is making (fucking up more like) Fallout 3, (even though the origional game designer already made fallout 3 years ago. shows you what a wonderful company they are)
the only engine that beats the source and havok engines is the Crysis Engine: and I don't think Beth is going to spend millions on DirectX10 rights for TES5. I just hope they dont go and release a crappy High-rock expansion. I would become a terrorist.

Whats so bad with High Rock? There were rumors not too long ago that Beth will make a new game based in Skyrim, because they copyrighted the word Skyrim.
And I wonder, what would be our company name if we did get that far? I mean, we obviously couldn't have Tamriel Rebuilt as it, but we could have somethinge else with the initials TR. (Tragostans Recoup?, Toll Ranks?, The Rockhides?, Try haRds?)

Well, much as I like Troll Realms...
Anyway, I don't think that TES: IV is the last TES game. I mean, they made a lot of money on Oblivion, didn't they? Whether they follow or care about lore or not, they'd still probably make at least one more game, probably more. Same with the possibility of CS going away. It keeps people interested, so it's still good. Anyway, this is all off topic. I do however agree that it's surprising to see how many sides there are to the project.
And is lore really a category? I'm pretty sure that there is no lore master outside of the Literature and Writing section, I think that lore is really just like a sub category. I might be wrong, though.
