Hey guys, I've already spoken with HaploTR from modDB and he's asked me to showcase my samples here so that you can all get a taste of what I've got to offer. I really look forward to working with you all very soon!

Hello there, Evan!
I've had a listen to all those listed and I'm sure I could give you a recommendation, but first I need to hear if you can do stuff suited for TES.
Being critical, I can say that all those pieces seem very 'generic fantasy' type of pieces. Like you could hear in lets say, tolkien. The problem is, theres a lot of that stuff around. I can also tell that your sound samples aren't too good, but that s not a problem, since you can send a finished work to me or Macar to record.
Now I know I sound like the devil, but you defiantely have the skill! I just need to know you can use it. Sometimes your music seems a little static, and that might be the sound samples (btw what program do you use?). Try making more movement in the accompaniment.
For my reccomendation, can you try to make a piece we might use? Try an explore one (for inspiration, listen to the soundtrack of oblivion or morrowind). Explores are the ones that come up when you wonder around the wilderness. All your works seem very grand, try too keep away from that for this, and try something unique. It shouldn't be ambient, but it should be neutral and interesting.
Good Luck, I hope to see you progress

Hello sir,
I realy like your music and I too am curious to know what program you use (I guess CubaseSE, if I'm right I win). Your music is grand but it's certainly videogame music- and I think it works. However, I'm interested in what you might be able to do for Hammerfell.
So anyway, I've sort of made it a policy that any incoming composer has to complete at least one peice before I recomend them for promotion. The reason being that I've seen too many composers leave TR after composing only one peice. So I think that it's better to make sure we get at least that much.
The fun part about Hammerfell is that it is an exotic and strange land- and the music should be likewise. We're trying to bring in an ethnic quality (particularly arabic). If you have any ethinc samples this is a good place to use them!
If you do choose to start on a peice please post some progress- so we can see what your up to and give you some advice.

Hey guys,
First off, these are actually from a very good sound library, just that I haven't mixed them yet so they're rough. I'm currently running Finale 2007 with EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Gold (about a $1000 library) and then just minimal (mostly piano) usage of Garritan Personal Orchestra (not a great sampler by any means, but happens to have a nice piano sample). Once I mix them down, they are much better quality (hahaha, I promise)!
Jedak: Thanks for the comments. I definitely get what you're saying about more interesting accompaniments, and I have already been working on this in some newer pieces of mine... i.e. instead of having just sustained notes in the mid. strings, I'll have some nice background runs or a counterpoint to provide some contrast to the melody. So, thats good - I'm already on that!
I'll get to work on a theme like you've described. My old project wanted larger exploration themes (another Oblivion mod called Blackwater Isle) and so those would not be what you're looking for!
Macar: EWQLSO Gold/GPO/running on Finale Not Cubase! Those are ugly samples! hahaha
Although I don't have any ethnic samples (I mainly compose concert music to be performed - string orchestras, quartets, chamber music, symphony orchestra) so I don't have any need for them. Although, I can manipulate the orchestration to at least come up with a more exotic sound...
Also, I'm very familiar with all of Soule's work, so I've already (many times, as I'm sure you both have) listened extensively to all of the reccomended scores. I'll see what I can do, though. Oh, and, rest assured, I will not duck-out after one piece. I am here for the long run, and am very excited to get to working with you both!
Macar: One last thing: Could you send me some screenshots to work with for Hammerfell? That'd be a great help.

Hello, and welcome to TR. I'm glad you've come!
I come bearing no screenshots, but concept art instead. Our department head for all things artsy has a wonderful compilation of (everything Hammerfellian) scores of different pieces detailing different aspects of Hammerfell's life.
Maybe the art can help you get a feel for the more exotic aspects of the culture we're trying to hit.

Finale!!!!?! Uh oh, I dont think you can be friends with us Sibelius guys. Nah, we'll let you hang out with us since your samples rock. I envy them.
As for not having any enthinic samples- niether do I. I've leared lots of tricks over the years: Flutes in the low register, oboes in the low register, manipulated strings (adding my own harmonic overtones). Then of course, thier is the orchestration and harmony. I've found the follow website helpfull: it's a bit of an introduction to the unique scales of arabic music (if you want to bother being this authentic). www.maqamworld.com
Since you show such earnesty- I'll probably recomend you after I hear whatever you are working on.
