Its hard to give feedback... cause there really isn't anything done yet. :P I'm eager to see how they turn out though.

Cool :)

Eyeball should be able to help you out with the textures, considering he did the dune dweller dagger (which is in the same style).

Keep up the good work!
P.S. Please don't make handbags, wallets, belts or shoes out of Orix

Hey! That Looks Good. How about making something between the blade and the handle? Looks like a really good mesh. Do you know how many triangles (polygons) it consists of?

The blade is 594 polys and im gonna totally remake the handle anyway cus the current mesh for it is only there as a guide for the shape

Yeah, the blade looks really interesting :) Good idea. But you definitely have to remodell the handle, it's a to simple shape. Maybe you should try to model a hand-fitting shape. Oh, and maybe change tha blade face smoothing.
Keep it up!

That's a lot better ;) Ok. Now, are you able to put some textures on this model? I would like to see how this mesh works with textures. It's the next thing, that should be done with this model. Then, after placing textures, we can decide what do to with the blade :)

Nice progress. My suggestions;

1) Give the blade texture some scratches. If it's going to look worn out and used, the rough surface isn't convincing on its own.

2) The handle and blade seem like they'll un-stick once someone picks up the sword. Sink the blade deeper into the handle and add something like two spikes in the texture.

3) The part of the handle that is clutched by the wielder's hand should be a bit messed up -that area would be the middle of the handle (my mind's stuck, what's the right word for that part of the weapon?). Darken that area in a random way to show it's been held more than once.

Hey, nice looking model so far. For kicks, I had a go on the texture. I tried to make it look more similar to Eyeball's there. Anyway, try it out if you want. :)

Very nice textures Morgoth :))

I'd like the handle to be a little more sturdy looking though - perhaps a little bulkier

I'm still worried that this is going to look totaly wierd when it's wielded because the blade is bent like that- unless it's one handed and the character hold it on the straigt part.

Alik'r nomads aren't all that much for immense or advanced weapons as you find in modern civilizations, so it'll never be large enough to fit two spaced hands

That blade looks longer and thinner (from the side) than the concept. And the bulge of wrapping at the base of the blade could be bigger. Looking great so far, other than that.

Also, personally I think the little cuts you made in the handle and lower blade are far too small to be noticed. It might be better to just make those solid and leave cracks and whatnot to the texture and map work.

Any progress?

Glad to have you back, I will re-add you to the usergroups now-- most of the progress being done is in the new claims browser section for models and textures, right below where interiors are listed.

The reason things look a bit bare here is because we're in the middle of trying to empty out the two general modeling/texturing sections and hope to eventually archive them completely. This will allow models and textures to be run the exact same way as exteriors and interiors have been run for years, and the way quests are being run since just recently.

Indeed that does look pretty cool. It's shaping up :-) And yes, posting progress on the blade here is fine.

i like the way you mapped the texture with that hole, it makes it look much more defined.

i was also wondering if DuneDwellers used bludgeoning tools like cudgels and bone weapons.
