Well when you look at how we have an influx of modelers and nothing for them to do i would say yes.....we almost have no concept art being produced to fill the gaps of what we need for GM so while we are waiting for that we should get this done.

wha? huh? what did I do? and aren't you someone who can supply a better poly count estimate?

I remember saying that I have tree polycounts. That is to say, I can look up any number of OB trees fairly easily, and get a rough estimate to aim for from that.
My question was more towards the point of things that might cause any fluctuation in said triangle count. Anything regarding the tree's usage that might give me more triangles (the tree needs to be very large, it won't be used that often, it will only be used in conjunction with lower poly models, fewer models will be around it than in OB regions, etc...) or fewer triangles (we'll have a forest of them closely packed, they'll be used with lots of high poly or high graphical intensity areas, etc) to work with.
In conclusion, I suppose my question wasn't all that clear

It's exactly as big as however big it needs to be. Changing the scale in SpeedTree is nearly as easy as changing the scale of any object in the CS. And if it looks weird, it can be tweaked.
So how big does it need to be?

can you try it with the bottom trunk piece as tall as a person? personaly, i would love to have one as big as the pic i posted above, but i dont think this particular model should be it. the fubar big one would take up a cell and could use quite a few poly's

Trunk as tall as a person. Leaves filled out a bit more, some polies reduced. Needs collision, which I am not willing to go through that headache that is. I've included in the .rar a text file which lists a few nice seeds (some other seeds do weird things to the trunk, which makes it look bad)

Are you planning to make some more progress on this PoHa, or are you just passing it over on the stage it is now?
PoHa: how can we best this trio of trouble? who will save us from this menace of sub-par models? what will we do?
PoHa: I know! we'll shoot an Aro at them
Aro: you have only one Aro missile!
PoHa: yes, but its heat seeking and quite possibly indestructible

Ack, missed your post
I'm submitting it for someone else to make the collision for it. At the time, I was unaware that the CS actually creates collision for (some) trees when you import them. I can't say whether or not this one would get collision or not.
If it doesn't have collision (or its collision is way off, as tends to occur) then someone needs to create collision for it. Its entirely possible to do that only using NifSkope and the CS, but its a bunch of running back and forth between those two programs to check and tweak and such, and can sometimes be a headache.
So... uh, yeah. Other than collision, I say its done.

Thanks poha, I'm gonna review this tree today. BTW, How many variations would we like to have?

I don't quite remember. Apparently, I put a text file in the .rar with a number of seeds that looked good, but I honestly have no idea how many that is. I can barely remember making this tree
Wait... what tree? Where the heck am I? I'm going back to the subway, where I can dance for nickels in my shoehorn box of mailed yodel players.

Dang, can you at least remember in which exact folders I should put the textures to? I don't have speedtree, so all that is left to test it for me is the CS and Oblivion itself.
EDIT.
Lulz, forget the first question. I'm passing this back to you.
First, the texture filenames.
TR_HK_Leaves_03
HelkoriTree03
You see? You're not cool
I won't even mention that it crashes my CS... Fix this please

Anytime you try to load up a tree that doesn't have a billboard image in the correct folder, it will crash the CS.
As for the leaf texture, having an underscore in its name won't cause any issues, since leaves don't use normal maps. If, for the sake of consistency, you'd like the name changed, I'll do it.
For the folders, I'll upload a new .rar in a minute, with correct paths for all. I suppose I can also create a collision for it, so no worries on that either.
Edit: New .rar up. Everything should be in its correct folder, unless I screwed up something. I also typed up a few general notes about SpeedTree trees for good measure.

Wow, it works and it has collisions. Some screens:

Works very fine ingame. No high distance visibility problems lags etc. Good job. The only thing I'm not sure about is the CS settings (defined while merging) of the tree. They are described here, http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Tree but I have no experience in trees so I have no idea what the optimum settings for this tree should be. So I suggest leaving the default values unless someone encounters something unnatural in the tree's behaviour. So if no one has anything against it, I can say it's finished and ready for merging.
