GM sound FX

Post by Gesshoku »

Heya, I just thought I'd post this here cause not everyone reads the sound and music forum.

I am willing to do some sound work for Goldmoor, but to do so I need to know what needs to be done.

I can do things for weapons that have been created, armor, etc. The thought of silent voice files has been brought up. And we can talk about general ambiance.

This is a Lore issue as well, so we need to coordinate things here. Let us (the sound department) know what needs to be done, and one of us can start on it. I may be out of place to say "us" but we are a team, so it really is "us"

At any rate, let us and/or I know what we can do, or what is being created model wise that can use FX, and we/I will get started on it right away.

Thanks.

Rhino sfx needed. Walking, Running, a few attacking, a few moaning and a grazing one maybe (a call sound too?)
If anyone manages to find some, post them here.

The urns should be correct. They have the clay pot sound assigned to them.

Three tracks
- Attack
- Call sound
- Grazing

Will more than likely need editing a little to get what we want.

Nalin... wft?

Did you make them? With your mouth?

The first one sounds like a spastic tiger.

The other two sound like Lady N mating.

But we might be able to use them.

I am not good with sfx.

Maybe gesshoku can get use it well...

Lol, These also doesn't sound like a rhino to me. Anyways, I plan to visit my city zoo soon to check the rhinos out and maybe do some photos of not rhinos for future use too.

You guys have seen a Rhino close enough to hear one? :P

Definitely usable sounds, need cleaning up though.

LOL! I found them online.

Seriously, when have you ever heard a spastic tiger? :D

I'm just throwing out what i found to get people started on it - I was going to edit them a bit in Audacity - lower the pitch and give it a gruntier sound - but honestly - I can't ever remember hearing a rhinoceros! So - laughable as it may be - that really might be the sound they make!?!

lol - i almost wish i did make them - with my mouth!

I didn't have any problem with the first one, which I assume is the grazing sound. As for the other two, they seem to be vocal calls, and the outward appearance has little to do with what kind of vocal chords an animal has, AFAIK. After the first surprise, I have no problem in associating those sounds with a Rhino.

Heya unfortunately those are gonna be the best possilbe Rhino sound FX to get. At the zoo there is WAY WAY too much ambient noise to get a good recording. The only way to get anything better than that is if you know someone who has a pet Rhino or you happen to go to somewhere where they have Rhino's in the wild.

If someone can come up with better then plz do so, if not this is what we will be using thx.

EDIT: Imma clean them up and re-post them right now, give me a few minutes.

Good luck then

(btw you could ask a zoo keeper if you could stay after hours to make a recorind, it might be a fat chance but it still is a chance :P )

yea I thought about that but I doubt it... almost not worth it I think. Once I am done cleaning these up they will be okay I think.

I am having some issues with the codec on these files so it will take me a few more minutes to get things ready

Here's another sound bite and an extended version (5 seconds longer) than the 4 second clip already uploaded.

Okay here is this one done, I am still having to work for the others I named it attack cause I can see this as an attack noise lemme hear your thoughts. I have a sound I like for a distant grazing effect but I gotta get it working first. Also this effect could be use for grazing it's a lot like the silt strider effect, but the one I am trying to work it up is a lot more plausible. let me know.

edit: it's not in .rar cause it's only one really small file

Edit2: Fixed

Note edit 2 above

EDIT: Okay I am having trouble getting any of the other effects I have to work. Codec issues and conversion to Bethesda standards aren't cooperating.

So this is an option. The above sound is quite long. I can use 1-2 second edits from it to form other effects. For example for attacking the whole thing, for grazing the first 2 seconds, etc etc... if this will work for us we need to decide what to use for what. Let me know.

He said he didn't rar it-and for some reason my computer cannot dowload mp3 files - but now I can download it, and I have :P

I think that it needs to be a lot lower - rhinoes have a more deep booming sound, I think ;)

Damn! I lost a longish post!

Good job Fishcake - all those need to be added to SoT ASAP IMHO.

The first one is a totambu forest night sound
The second one is a totambu forest day sound
The others are exellent Rhino sounds- just like I imagined them.

The Goldmoor section is no more, and this section is now getting lots of attention. Thus the move here.
