Pown's Concept Art

Post by Pown »

Here's my first piece of concept art. I like to draw so I thought I'd try this too. :)

First, the quality sucks! I can't scan or whatever everyone else do so I've taken photos of my drawing and the chosen the best one. Maybe I should try to work with it a little in Photoshop if I find time...

Ok, here it is. Probably not the right way to display it but...
It's meant to be Some nomadic desert creature for Hammerfell, with big feet, especially in the front to compensate for its front heaviness, and big eyebrow things so it can avoid getting sand in its eyes. Weights is added to the reins to force up the tail ( maybe not too believable ). I also imagined that those could serve as some kind of "bell", letting out a sound similar to the Ashlander Chimes in Morrowind. You may notice that it looks a bit like Guars and Kagoutis, but I think its more real if you can see some similarities between races on Tamriel.
Yeah I think that's all. And again sorry for the quality. :)

Tuktu, and welcome to the CA board! Don't worry about the quality of the image, as long as it's legible, clear and portraying what you want.

This first piece is a nice study, and great examination. many positions have been looked at, and further details on appendages and such. This fellow really reminds me of an avian-type camel, as well as the same physical structure of sand-runners

Funny. My first (or one of my first) concepts was also a two-legged creature living in the Alik'ir and being used by the natives.

I like it - the only reservation I have is that I'm not sure how "Hammerfell" it is. Keep the concepts coming though - I'd like to see more.

I'm glad you like it. :) I'll be taking a boat to Sweden tomorrow and I may draw something, if I get inspiration, when I'm stuck on it for a couple of hours.

I see everyone else use Image shack, or something similar when they view their drawings. Should I try to do that too and how does it work.

I think that the main advantage of Image Shack is the stylish thumbnail which you can use for the forums. :P This keeps the forum image from stretching the screen while the image itself can be as large as you want. Photoshop has albums, though, which is also an advantage.

I'd also recommend using maj.com, which is perfect for archiving and online public viewing. I myself have been using it just in case stuff goes missing, and I need a back-up :D

even if the first dozen drawings aren't close to the theme, it's quite alright, of course :P. I dare not mention the Ka'gwola debate we had about a year ago, lol

Here's what my trip to Sweden resulted in!
It's a archer, hope everyone see it :D. I tried to make it more Hammerfell but i guess it's up to others to tell if I did it or if I failed. I tries to make him guerrilla looking, that's why his clothing is messed up. the only armor he wears is some leather, studded with maybe some local animal shell/bone. The arrow tip is not metal either as I thought that metal primely would be used to swords and heavier armor, iron arrow tips seem very replaceable to me. Also note the ancestor bone in a string around his neck.

Pheew, took me about 10 attempts to get small image to open big...
