Newbie reporting in

Post by Shriek Hawk »

I'm a 19 year old computer science major, female. Have Morrowind for the PC and Oblivion for the 360. No modding experience, at least not yet.

I've taken a few classes in drawing and creative writing, and I survive college on caffeine, of course.

Anyway, here are a few of my drawings for random example purposes.

First off, welcome to the project.

You posted some drawings but I have the art skills of an inebriated ostrich so I am going to ignore them and let someone who knows art comment on them.

You have access to the MW CS you say, yet have no experience. We have several tutorials on our main page that might be of some use if you wish to develop your CS skills further.

So yeah, welcome to the project and have fun.

Be sure to write something for TR, if that's what you are interested in.

I was thinking that a journal, and maybe a small house to go with it might be a good first project...I'll look over the tutorials.

As you wish. I think I'll start with some flora and maybe a dagger or such for concepts...hmm.

And thanks, everyone.

One question: Where?

Anyway, you're art skills are more than decent; you appear to be able to replicate anything you see with sufficient detail and skill in pencil. How do you think you would fare creating your own concepts?

So, I decided to mess around with the Construction set. I'm having trouble trying to clean the thing...yes, I did go to data files and deleted those GMSTs, but I'm not sure what else I need to do.

Anyway, I'm doing a small house for a scout/hunter type character, who's a follower of Hircine. I'll post what I have done of his journal once I get more done.

Here are some screenies of the work I have done so far. I'll post it once I have more done.

Another shot

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What I can see from the shots is that you should place more furniture and clutter in the room. I also saw that the drawers you're using is a rich variant, while you should use the poor or middle class variant. You can see what they are in the name of the object: r is rich and p is poor. The candle you're using is dunmer while it should be imperial. Just as with rich and poor, dunmer is de and imperial com.

An imperial house of this kind isn't the best thing to showcase, since we can't see if you can use gridsnap properly. I would suggest you look in the unclaimed interiors forum and pick one of those. I can assure you that we can use your showcase then, as we can always use another cave or ancesrtal tomb. Well, succes with it.

Oh, thanks. Would a dunmer shack or something be a better base house to use?

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to claim anything yet, though.

And I did know that I needed more clutter and such, but thought that I should get some input before putting too much work in.

A shack wouldn't be so good as well. You see, with gridsnap you make interiors which consist of single tiles, like a cave or an ancestral tomb. We want to see if modders can use the gridsnap.
