Dialogue/Voice Acting Showcase

Post by kyletamarane »

I recorded a couple of pieces of dialogue I made up myself. There are two characters I recorded separately, a Redguard and a Khajiit.

I changed the pitch slightly to make the voices sound a little better - hope that's okay. I can send the unedited files too if you want to hear them.

EDIT: My apologies Macar and anyone else but I should have stated here in this post that the files are not my original voice.

Glad to contribute! TR kicks!

Impressive! Most impressive! I'm almost sorry to say that I can't afford to take part in TR much (life after graduation is all downhill :P), but you're a real talent.

AFAIK, Redguards will be in big demand, eventually, however for Stirk they're covered. We are in dire need of dire Imperials and Nords. Currently they're what we need most.

Khajiit are always good, we have a few people on the books who can do those, Redguard voice-actors are more valuable since there are few in the community who can do them well. Macar in TR does a good 'un too, but apart from you two I don't know of anyone who can properly catch them.

Once Goldmoor is built, and the quest making begins, voice acting will follow shortly afterwards. But until then, could you have a stab at Nords or Imperials?
P.S. Please don't make handbags, wallets, belts or shoes out of Orix

Those are excellent! You even included something TR-related :-D

Member Promoted for voice acting. Another person you might be interested in getting to know is Gesshoku; he works on SFX and digitally remastering (in real-life, too!) audio. Jedak also composes.

But recently I've been sitting on my no-good-rotten-goddamn-lazy arse :P In three weeks I shall be active once more!

I cant listen to your voice because my computer for some reason doesn't download mp3 files unless zipped, but if both Haplo and Orix have faith in you then so do I :)

May we work well in the future!

ooo basso profundo!

I assume that's the unaltered pitch of your voice? I'm glad to have you on board. Your voice is great for Redguards especialy. It's a little lower, but we're not commited to imitating the ingame voices exactly- just comming up with a sound that sounds like they could be the same race. I'd certainly like to have you do some of the Redguard voices- but for the sake of variety and for the sake of not over taxing you I'd still like to use more than one person for the male redguards.

The beast race voices are cool- and would work for particulary buff and intimidating Khajit battle cats.

I'll get to you soon with some more details. The stirk quest is still nearing completeion, but I have some dailogue you can start on. I need sleep.

Welcome though, you are a glad and much need addition.

Thanks for all of your compliments guys! I'm glad I can help out - Macar, keep in mind that the files I have uploaded are not my actual voice, as I said in my first post. They have been edited slightly to lower the pitch of my voice.

I'll upload the unedited ones and you tell me what you want to do - I want to be honest, otherwise you'll think that's my real voice! Let's see what you make of the unedited files, and then we can work from there I guess. Whatever you want.

Orix, I'll do some Nord and Imperial attempts too.

If you guys don't mind my voice acting files edited slightly, then I am only too happy to help out with dialogue.

Unedited version of my dialogue

Post by kyletamarane »

As I said in my first post, the files Macar, Orix, Jedak etc. have heard are not my actual voice. They have been edited a bit to lower the pitch. I want to be honest about this so there is no confusion as to whether or not that is my real voice. In hindsight, I could probably lower my natural voice a little more especially for the Redguard files, but not by much.

Macar and Orix, would you still want me to do dialogue even if the files are edited a little?

Rock on TR,

Kyle T

sorry, I should have read more carefully. There's nothing wrong with editing clips- I do it too. I'd like to hear what the true pitch of your voice is- especialy since I think those were generaly too low. might end up editing them anyway- but not as much.

ah, good. I had a little experament with them and I think that it sounds best for redguards about 10% lower. How low did you have it before? Sounds like about 20%

How low did I edit them?

Post by kyletamarane »

Macar,

I don't know percentage wise, but I think I lowered my voice from an F to a D in pitch. Tonight I'll edit them again and raise the pitch a little so they arent so bass and low.

F to D is about 15%- so yeah, just a little less low. Here's the way I thought it sounded good (rar'd so poor Jedak can hear it).

Poor Jedak like. Nice basso there, kyle! I'm pretty sure that you could do a imperial or nord or even breton if you give it a go. Try them! Even if you think that your impersonation is not all that good, it might be.

Good luck! We need all the voice actors we can get.

I can't make up my mind which one sounds better!

Post by kyletamarane »

Macar,

The one you edited also sounds good - but I can't make up my mind which one sounds more like a Redguard!

I'll try and do some Imperial and Nord stuff and see how I go with that. I'll do some of that Stirk quest dialogue too when I can.

Cheers,

Is this Nord impersonation good?

Post by kyletamarane »

Here is an attempt at talking like a Nord. The line I used in the dialogue is from Morrowind.

I have a question. Do you sing? and would you be comfortable doing any ingame singing that migh occurr. If it's no- that's fine. There might not be any anyway.

I'm not feeling the Nord (I feel confident I can say this without hurting your feelings since your Redguard samples are so good). I think it just sounds too "affected" like you are trying to sound like a giant or ogre.

Sing? :)

Post by kyletamarane »

Lol! Nope, I can't sing at all! ;)

And no, I didn't take offense to your comments about the Nord dialogue; that's okay, I'll try and so Imperials and Bretons next. No problem! I'm just happy I can use my talents to contribute to this awesome mod.

Got any other dialogue you want me to do yet?

The dialogue for Stirk is being compiled as soon as the quest dialogue is finished and stuffed into an Excel table. Then we'll have to decide who can do what. Its been a while since some of the voice actors have been around, but for the most part I think you, me, Macar, Massy and her friend Poledra should be able to cover it.

Does the Stirk dialogue require races other than Redguards?

Post by kyletamarane »

Will you be needing Imperials, Bretons or Khajiits for the Stirk dialogue? I haven't tried Imperials or Bretons yet, but I might be good at Khajiits

I think there is a beastman or two actually, those voices were assigned to a member, I have no idea whether he's still around though, so if we do have trouble finding someone, I'll give it to you.

Aplogies for the lack of new dialogue

Post by kyletamarane »

Hi all,

I must apologise for the lack of new dialogue lately. I should have told you all earlier but I have exams this Friday (December 14th) and have been busy preparing for them. After that I will be able to record more sample dialogue and respond to any new lines Orix Macar or anyone else has for me.

Keep up the good work TR and congrats on winning the prize for best RPG mod!

Some new lines to add to my showcase

Post by kyletamarane »

These are some sample Stirk dialogue lines that Macar sent me. Do any of them need polishing up? You be the critics!

EDIT: I made them. :)

Two more in the next post

(Stops playing Portal soundtrack for a mo)

Marvellous work on the Redguards as always kyletamarane! Stirk is almost ready, although I notice you've not yet given the Nords/Imps a go. Don't blame you though, cant say I'm very good at them myself, but that's due to my brittas accent :P.
