Hello, all. I'm an old veteran of the Morrowind Summit Forums who has only recently gotten into modding for Oblivion.

I'm skilled in many areas, and specialise in the following:
 • Writing
 • Texturing
 • Cell Building
 • Voice Acting
My minor talents include:
 • Scripting
 • Quest Scripting
 • A.I.
I'm not exactly sure how much I'll be able to contribute right away, since my attention is completely focused on my mod The Dragon Break at the moment. However, if any content from that mod is deemed worthy to be used in TR, I would happily contribute (within reason, i.e., if that object isn't specific to The Dragon Break).

I care deeply about lore and endeavor to preserve and further it in my mods. I am a published member of the Forum Scholars Guild, and would gladly contribute my article Dragon Break at Red Mountain (as soon as it's undergone some editing for grammar, style and content).

Screenshots of my work can be found in The Dragon Break's WIP threads on the Elder Scrolls Forums and the Storyboard.

For a while, I've had a retexture of Ebony Armour - Na-Totambu Orichalc armour, as a matter of fact - lying around collecting dust, and Lady Nerevar suggested that I submit it as content. The armour comes accompanied with a book that I hope to submit to the literature project, as well.

Thank you. :)

Hmm, if you can do retextures, I can give you something to work on any second, just ask :) Welcome to the forums

Cell building you say? both interiors and exteriors? Are you OB exclusive or do you do MW too? Either way, I would love to see a small sample of your work, perhaps a section of your mod that you feel most proud of.

Hey Astion; welcome to Tamriel Rebuilt :-) Like Thrignar (and I'm sure many others), I'm also anxious to see some work of yours. That screenshot of the armor looks fantastic, is it a retexture or completely new? (I'm not all that familiar with all the different armor types in Oblivion yet... still mingling my way through the game)

Hello again, all. Thank you for the encouraging responses. :)

I'm a veteran modder for Morrowind and have released several mods, my most well known probably being The Ebony Blade, which has seen about 10,000 downloads on PES (together with the downloads from back when it was still the Morrowind Summit). Nanu Ra, I think you should remember
it. :)

Yes, Cell Building. I can do both to a degree, although I specialise in interiors. Well, there are several areas of the mod I'm particularly proud of... but I think Hogithum Hall has to take the cake. You can find all the official screenshots for The Dragon Break here, and several pre-announcement screenshots here.

I have a couple of videos of my work, as well:

As has been requested, here are some of my literature samples.

My fanfiction, Wolf, can be found here.

What follows is what I have so far for The Arms of the Ansei:

The Arms of the Ansei
a Treatise on the Weapons and Armour
of the Ancient Yokudans

[This thick tome, written by a Redguard known as Vaspasian, is evidently a treatise on the development of the armour and weaponry of the ancient Yokudans. It is written in Tamrielic, for the most part, but some sections are penned in an unfamiliar pictographic text.]

[In the opening chapters, and to varying degrees throughout the book, Vaspasian recounts his life and his travels throughout Tamriel, from his auspicious roots in a noble house of Hegathe to his shameful fall from grace, and on to his redemption through accepting the ways of the ancient Ansei of Yokuda.]

[Through an apprenticeship to an Ansei in the Order of Diagna, Vaspasian regained his honour and an appreciation for Ra Gada tradition, becoming a master weaponsmith. He explains that the development of the arms of the Ansei was deeply rooted in Yokudan cultural tradition.]

[Most of the book details the obscure history of Yokudan weaponcraft and the strange rituals associated therewith. Only the most advanced armorers would be able to glean anything from these strange practices - they are too complex for the layman's eye to appreciate.]

[Despite the technical complexity of the text, several passages catch your eye as you leaf through it.]

Following the disaster that destroyed our homeland, the ancient Yokudans hied across the sea to Tamriel, carrying with us our venerable traditions and the last vestiges of our wounded civilisation. We spilled across what is now called Hammerfell in a tide of violence, driving the vermin beast races before us. This conquest, dubbed the Ra Gada - the "Warrior Wave" - is the event from which the term "Redguard" is derived, and from which all modern Yokudans take their name.

The Ra Gada prospered in the arid deserts of what was then called Volenfell. Our agricultural methods - conceived in lands of blasted stone and howling winds - were adapted to climates even harsher than that of the dry Alik'r. We claimed the desert from its monstrous tenants and raised grand cities from the sand, fashioning them in the image of our lost homeland. Our civilisation had prevailed, our ways had been preserved, and we set out to carve out a future in an undiscovered country.

However, all was well not well with our people. A bitter division grew between the Na-Totambu kings, who led us and adapted our society to our new home, and the Forebears, who claimed to represent the original ideals of our ancestors. Over time, this division widened; rivalries erupted and vendetta begat vendetta until our civilisation splintered, resulting in a rift that divides Hammerfell to this day...

[An Excerpt:]

The arms of the Na-Totambu warriors were forged from a precious material found only in the stone of lost Yokuda. The mountains of Akos Kasaz gleamed green with serpentine seams of this precious metal, harder even than the Godsblood that ran from the wounds of the earth.

This metal is Orichalc, the gift of our hero-god Diagna, whose ingenuity in weaponcraft assured our grandest victory against the Left-Handed Elves with blades which remained unseen unless looked at sideways.

The Na-Totambu sovreigns prized the metal above all others. When cleaned and polished, it shone with a deep green lustre, making it coveted for use in ornaments, and the crowns and thrones of the Na-Totambu were wrought from it. However, when exposed to the harshness of the elements, it brightened from a deep jade to the cruel red of spilled blood. This crimson rust also had the curious property of enhancing the strength of the metal, unlike the wasting corrosion of iron.

Orichalc, therefore, was ideal for use in the forges of the Na-Totambu smiths, and only the most experienced and talented craftsmen were allowed to work it. Painstaking care was taken to ensure the perfection of each piece of equipment. Every sword, shield and article of armour was forged over the progress of several weeks, during which the arms were honed and consecrated to the Yokudan gods of battle.

[An Excerpt:]

The arts of war and of combat are the principal disciplines in our culture, and the most revered gods in our pantheon were also our pedagogues in the martial arts. The foremost of these is Diagna, the Orichalc God of the Sideways Blade. Diagna, the demigod who led the Ra Gada against the Orcs and Goblins of ancient Hammerfell, was an avatar of Hoon Ding, the god of Make Way who emerges in times of conflict. Other oft invoked gods include Leki, the Saint-Goddess of the Spirit Sword who introduced the Ephemeral Feint, and Onsi the Boneshaver, who taught Mankind how to pull their knives into swords.

The ancient Redguards often adorned their arms and armour with the symbols of their Gods. Such customisation was to the taste of the individual warrior, who was responsible for the repair and upkeep of his own arms, and often took the form of gold or silver filligree or wire hammered into the plate.

The Crowns outfitted their elite guard - the defenders of the sovreign Na-Totambu state - with complete suits of Orichalc plate armour, consecrated to Diagna. After the final consecration ritual had been completed, it was considered heresy for the armour to be cleaned. They earned a fearsome reputation as passionless and masterful killers, and the sight of rank after rank of dour Na-Totambu warriors, clad in armour and wielding weapons that appeared to be drenched with blood, was enough to strike fear into the hearts of even the most ruthless renegade Ansei.

However, as imperishable to fire and water as the wonderous material they were forged from is, nothing is immune from the ravages of time. Today, precious few Na-Totambu relics remain in existence, and these are invariably found in collections of ancient weaponry across the Empire...

Hey, a really quick runthrough (no time for an in-depth review) shows a few things:

- It's not really your fault since no one's told you yet, but at TR we follow Bethesda, and we take that literally. (Hey we're talking about literature... that's kinda punny... hehe) Anyway, Bethesda used American English in all their literature, and so we do too... so no 'honour' or 'civilisation' or 'armour'. (Although the plural in UK English isn't armourer, which doesn't make sense... spell it one way!)

- copy and paste your text into Microsoft Word or WordPerfect (if you live in the 90s) or OpenOffice (whatever you use) and run it through spell check. It's pretty good over all as far as spelling goes, but there are a couple spelling errors that could be caught easily by a spell checker. Even Firefox has a built in spell check tool (another reason to use it ;-)).

I've also looked at your text, and apart from the English(UK) spelling Haplo mentioned (and perhaps the title) there was nothing that I could find that was wrong.

The name Vaspasian sounds a bit Imperial to me... (Vespasian = Roman Emperor 69 -79 A.D.), but then again, so does Cyrus.

We have a name generator at TR for emergencies just as these:

It can be very weird at times. I certainly don't use it for NPC creation. (I presume it's from there that Map 1 had some NPCs (which were thankfully presumably removed before the public beta) called Poustis Xoutis and Proconocouses or something crazy like that)

By the way, I decided to "review" (he he :) ) your ebony blade mod. There were a few floaters and bleeders, but I didn't find any problems with the quest itself. (I wasn't very thorough, though, and I might have missed something). It's actually a pretty good showcase of your various abilities. I look forward to seeing (and playing) more of your work. :]

Great voice acting Astion!

Really good. I like how you animated a character and lip synched your words to his mouth. How did you do that?

I also love voice acting and hope to help out with the Redguards for the Stirk part of the TR mod.

Good to have you on board mate.

You didn't see the worst. Somebody thought it would be cute to have a Khajiit named Rim'Job. No comment. I quickly renamed him, of course.

I've used the random name generator, but the way I use it, I generate something like 20 names and then choose from what is displayed a suitable name for one character...

I think Bethesda uses a random name generator too. I can't explain otherwise why they'd have both an NPC and a lich named Arielle Jurard.

It was Riim'Joab and I renamed him several years ago, which means none of my fixes were included ultimately?

Unless someone named another khajiit Rim'Job after they found out about that one.
