I'm not too found of those gates.

But I love the false dome idea and the stuff in the "An Ancient Temple" picture.

Have you considered some influences from the Indus Valley civilization(s)?

I really like those pillars Harke. I think I'll try to model them on the coming weekend.. as a test of sorts. As for the entrance, I prefer Pound's simple depiction.

Do you mean the door itself, or the carved faux gable above them?
Yeah, the gable. It looks odd to me- but one man's odd is another mans cool/unique.

@ Morden & Macar:

I like Pound's concept too. I don't think it's actually that far from the gable.

I've made two more concepts yesterday:

The Monument To Prince Fanta

The Monument To Prince Fanta, or anybody else important or vain enough to have had a statue carved out in their image.
The discussion about Prince Fanta is in the Lore forums:
http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/old_forum/viewtopic.php?p=214993#214993

Yoku Fort Concept

A concept that can be used for Yoku fortresses & ruins.
The octagonal tower pieces allow the walls to make eight different angles to each other.

They still have those gables you don't like since I've made them before I read you last posts.

@ Morden (and other modelers)

Is the resolution high enough for you? I can easily put up a larger picture with a grid, if you tell me which one you need.

Here is a dome made from one of the photos I put up earlier.

those look really clean and i like the lintl design , they would be very good for modular sets , for temples ! nice work harke, i like the top one with the sorta flared toe design!maybe you could make them stand out a little more in a half dome sort of shape just a thought

I know that Elfane and Lute were willing to develop the ruins design, they might make a use of your ideas if they want to.
PoHa: how can we best this trio of trouble? who will save us from this menace of sub-par models? what will we do?
PoHa: I know! we'll shoot an Aro at them
Aro: you have only one Aro missile!
PoHa: yes, but its heat seeking and quite possibly indestructible

They're more than welcome to use anything of mine, if they think it's useful. In the mean time, I'll add a few more Yoku ruin architecture pieces.

(I've just updated my last post with another concept).

I've been thinking about making a Yoku temple with elements like these...but I'm not sure if that would work. It would probably stand out from the other buildings too much.

El Scumbago wrote:If I was to use the stuff Sapien posted, I'd use them in Argonia, since it seems they're more fond of Mayan/Pre-colombian Mesoamerican architecture over there. But they're far from what I know as Yoku and Raga.
Scumbago, I'd have to disagree. according to my lore studies (WTF? Sabian studying?!) I find that the argonians actually carve dwellings out of trees... Or at least that is my impression of what it should be like. D:

Not that this had anything to do with the topic... I just wanted to prove Scumbago wrong. :]

Lutemoth did several concepts that were quite reminiscent of Ancient Egyptian design (see his thread). I posted several furniture concepts made after ancient Egyptian examples (in the now-archived Concept Corner).

Ha! Got you Sabian. Argonians also have Mayan influences, so not evey dwelling is curved into trees. Plus, could you imagine a capital curved into trees?

In any case, I'm entering the make-something-ruined thread with an idea I had about the interior of a tomb. Since soft terrain tends to form deep vertical pits underground, we could have some really dizzing caverns. The wall paterns and overall design are inspired by one of Lutemoth's armors which I made into a wall.

I like the design of the cave. I'm not sure about the colors of the architecture. (that is to say; if the colors are paint they would probably have faded/chipped off by now)

Thoughts? I focused on 7-sided stuff- buildings, windows, and doors (which look a little scarab-esque, heh) but also wanted to put in some spirally stuff. I am thinking that a combination of hard angles and organic curves would make for a dynamic, interesting ruin.
The roofs are stylized to resemble dunes or waves, with heavy patina/nickeling.
If this is interesting, I can make more along the same theme. :} Just getting my feet wet again. Don't expect a lot in the next month, as we are moving to a new house, but with getting my SSDI approved and finding a new home, a lot of the stress that was blocking me is gone- I started painting right after I found out we got the house. :D
I know it's a little more rough than usual, apologies.

(PS- I will be doing the harp recording after I move- very sorry for the delay.)
