Looks promising :) Be sure to upload the mesh in a nice format (preferably nif, 3ds or obj should be ok) when you finish it.

Welcome to the forums :)

finished model

Post by Rhymer »

Here us a completed model of yokudan bird goddes. However I'm unable to texture it because my skills in texturing is very low. So it will be nice of someone to texture this model.
PS: Where can I put the 3ds file itself?

Just finished model. It needs texturing, but I'm a poor texture maker.

I think that uploading it with this site is also good. Unless it's way too big.

I mean, what I am to do with the model I've just created. I haven't understood the navigation system of this site.

I think you have just to upload it the way you did with your jpg file (the pic).

That's it, just pack it to a rar or zip file and upload just like the jpg files.

And I would like to encourage you to try some texturing on this. What software are you using?

And a mesh can't be too big, blackbird.

Sweet man.

Good choice, the Temple in Rihad (our first city) is to this goddess.

That concept was drawn by Lutemoth. Here is a link to his art thread. It contains many more god statues and other designs:

Here is another depiction of the goddess Tava:

Looking good, really good. But the underarms looks a bit bulky. A bit like Popeye.

Looks amazing. It would be great if you could make the eyes a tad larger. Just a tad and it will be perfect.

Finished model

Post by Rhymer »

This model is still untextured, because it is rather complicated task for me - UVW unwrap puzzles me greatly. By the way, I've increased the size of model's eyes a bit as Arthmodeus adviced.

What software are you using? (3ds format messes up the smoothing and causes the mesh structure to fall apart)

First of all, it is good to finish the mesh before you start to unwrap the uvw. In other case, you're gonna waste a big portion of your time.

I also noticed that you used boolean operations here and there. The effect needs some cleaning, because it produces useless vertices. On this screen the unecessary vertices are marked red:

Your mesh is only 7k polies, so far :) Nice. Make a use of it and add more to smooth out some parts. The target for this should be over 10k.

Improved, but still untextured

Post by Rhymer »

I've fixed up the problem of useless vertices and added some polygons to make the model a bit smoother.

Congrats on your promotion. Great work on Tava, can't wait to see her in-game. Maybe next you can another statue like Tu'whacca or Morwha.
