what NEEDS to be done

Post by jarvis »

k im a noob to TR (as if that wasnt obvious) but i'd like to know what really needs to be done: if i made an interior cell, for example, what would it be, what it would be for, etc.

p.s. my good computer is being fixed so i cant 3dsMax anymore :(

Quote from the Join now page:
* Interior Cell Designers
* Exterior Cell Designers
* NPC/AI Creators
* Experts on Tamrielic Lore
* Writers (American English, Yoku, & Dunmeri)
* Meshers
* Texture Artists
* SFX/Voice/Music Artists
* and creative minds!
end of quote
(for somereason i cant do quotes...)

To become a modder you must make a interior/exterior cell, make a quest, (write a book, though you wont get promoted unless you do an int/ext), make a model with textures, anything on that list. So if you could follow the guides on the tutorial section of modding data on the main page, create an interior fill it with good ness. make sure you read all of the documentation on creating stuff for TR, there are things like mixing UC/MC/LC stuff, and basically thats a no no.

One question what game(s) do you have.

Suggestion. Make a house(interior). Put an NPC in it. put furniture, clutter, lighting, etc in it. make it so that the NPC really lives there. remember the thing about UC/MC/LC, its not like a poor person will own really well made furniture and rare books and stuff.

edit: there is currently a need for Interiors for Morrowind, and exteriors for Oblivion. but what you do in your showcase most likely wont be used (its just to check your skills if your good enough to be able to mod with us)
theviking and MowSkwoz have it in theirs... soo: "We need quest designers!" - Stolen From teh Cutness.

Ugh, a model WITH textures? I can do models fine, but I absolutely suck with textures. Oh well, I suppose I can rack up something.

You know, when a showcase is really good, it happens that it's smuggled into the main mod. :)

Well, then try to map your model so as to use a vanilla texture. :D

And to clarify, Showcases are NOT meant chiefly for picking modders. While it happens that we do that, it's mainly there as a learning experience.
