Better day/night effect

Post by Nairb »

i have noticed that even though it is like 1:00 AM in the world, you can still see clearly even though there are no towns near you. i was thinking what if you created huge 1000 radis black lights and placed a script on them that only activated them 11:00 PM to around 4:00 PM. I think that wold make a better day/night effect that way you cant see as much when travelsing at night. mybe also there could be a script on a differnt lights that activate late at night during certain types of weather. any mor thoughts about this idea and if or how this effect should be implemented in tr?

The settings can be changed in the morrowind.ini. I agree the nights in the game are too bright. However, since it is TR's policy to not change any game settings, you have to use other mods like TLM (search on summit or the official boards for it; I myself use it since it creates a really creepy night time atmosphere).

I dont think TR's police include such settings, perhaps we can make a moderator comment on it`?

hmm. Go for it but when your done it will have to be made a bolt-on. It can't go in the master file but can be a seprate download.

Please read my post again. There is no need to place thousands of light bulbs just to make the night darker (it won't look good anyway).

This can be achieved by simply reducing the gamma in the options/visual of the game and it'll make your nights dark..... really dark and the daytime will still be perfectly visible.

Anyway, it's what I used to make it darker during the night, cause I felt the same as you and thought the nights were too bright.

even in total wilderness, u will still be able to see thanks to the moon and the stars... even though they provide little light, its more than enough for vision at night.

the only condition that will render the surrounding totally dark was that if there were a kilometre thick layer of clouds overhead.

trust me.. just a moon is more than nuff. was at a mountain top once and everything was perfectly visible.

I live far away from any towns, If the moon is not obscured by clouds (and is not close to/in the new moon phase), you can see fairly well at night...at least well enough to not hit any trees, heh.

I don't think the black lights will look good, but I may be wrong, so go ahead and try it...I don't think it would affect the sky, though...
