I can't wait to see him with his afro... :) I'm glad to see you've got a concept art thread up and running. Hopefully it will be filled with concepts before long. :D

I think there should be a small prize* to whoever can make an ingame character most resembling the above. It's a really characterful portrait, well done.

If he was made as a unique race then couldn't we give him a face texture that looks pretty much identical to what were going for? ...The answer is Yes - but making new races for odd characters could quickly get out of control. It'd look awesome though.

Nalin, he's for Hammerfell. What the fuck would we need a new race for?

It looks amazing, Napoleoman.

I don't think that he meant that we actually should do it, but I think that Nalin meant that, if we made a new race, we could change the base model for the head and the texture so that Treigo will end up looking more unique, and more like napoleoman's picture.

Apology

Post by napoleoman »

I would like to apologize for my incredible absence. I love Elder Scrolls and I really want to get in on this project. Obviously I have not yet. I joined right when my semester started and I have had LITERALLY no time. to put it in perspective, last semester I had to make roughly 15 finished drawings for my advanced drawing class. This semester I have made 150+ drawings... soo... yeah...

Good news though is that my semester is over and I have not forgotten about you guys. I probably havent made a great impression, only submitting 1 concept art :P, but I'll make it up!

Im looking through the concept art forums and am gonna get cracking on stuff! Hopefully I will be able to prove my worth...

Kind of cute in a slimey helpless way. ;) I like it. If you draw a view from the front it would round out a great concept, and make it easier to model when the time comes.

Mudfish? Helpless? Is it not gonna swim in the water? Could be fun as a trap rather than a creature. Pass in front of it and gnap, mouth opens and a big long tongue/jaw lashes out and tries to grab you. :D

All it needs is a little antenna with an orb on the end and we can call it a lantern fish.

Well, my original idea was to have this fish-like creature that kinda squirmed on top of the marshy and wet ground. Im pretty sure thats what a mudfish really does in real life... but I could be mistaken.

Anyway, it could be a trap instead of a creature *shrugs*

Omg, that is a scary thing! Such fish-like creatures always looked fearsome for me. Sexy concept that is. I wouldn't fear of crap.

Yeah, I've been thinking about how to make it in Oblivion, despite the worldspace thingie.

if I am thinking about "world space" like you are, then it wont be too hard to figure out. Split the city into 2 main "interior" parts (think about how they split the city in the main imperial city in oblivion). Have the left side of the city be 1 "interior", with the right side of the city being another "interior." The walkway-bridges between them could be done exactly how the high walkways between towers in the oblivion realms are done. There would be a door which leads from one city "interior" to the exterior world (on the walkway), and then there would be a door on the other side of the walkway that leads to the other sides interior.

Hopefully I explained that good enough. By city interior I dont mean no houses or anything, just in the same sense that all the ESIV cities are technically "interiors."

If you guys like the idea, then I will do more drawings and try to flesh it out some more.

Doesn't Skingrad do that twice? The bridges leading between the two halves of the city, and the bridge leading to the Keep.

It does have bridges to either side but it is all one interior world cell.

You are completely correct about the bridge leading to the Keep. You quickly go from the interior "city" cell to the exterior world, then to the interior "keep" cell.

Except with this town if you fell off the bridge you'd be dead ;)

So, am I pushing forward with this idea? Can it be used anywhere? I'd be happy draw more pictures of it and flesh out ideas... but I need to know if I should or if it'll be a waste of time.

Great concept art is never a waste of time. I'm sure there is at least one place it can be put to use in Hammerfell, whether as a town or as a ruin.

It could be used for Elinhir or Dragonstar. For Dragonstar it would be especially nice since the Nords have taken over one half of the city; so we could use the cliff as the boundary between both zones. (The Dragonstar map from Shadowkey is completely irrelevant. It's old, it's from a game constrained by very harsh technical limitations, and Bethesda has (fortunately) never considered city maps from old games to be lore.

i vote that as Dragonstar. partly cause im bias towards elinhir, lol. but it is also located at a higher elevation then Elinhir is, and is perfectly suited to this due to its split (as mentioned by Gez).

damn sexy pic btw. charcoal?
