Just a couple things.
First, not meaning this as an impatient comment, or to be rude...What's holding us back with some of the things we need to do. Is it models? Lack of people? To speed things up couldn't we go out and recruit people to help?
It might take a long time for someone to hear about us and come join. But, if we went out to some freemodding sites like Planet Elderscrolls, we could almost certainly find several people to join quickly. I've seen some amazing things there too.
If you don't beleive me go there, go to the mods section for oblivion, and type Addonay or AlienSlof into the author bar. There are many accomplished people there and other places too.
This is just an idea, but it might help things move on a bit.

those "acomplished" people hardly ever join mods like this one because they are out accomplishing their own projects. while i dont think we have a lack of people really, we could alway use more modders.
i am currently making an "advertisement" thread for BSF, i could just as well post it on other boards too. however, it is not nearly as easy as you make it sound. posting a thread doesn't automatically result in half a dozen new modders, more often then not it results in "cool mod will dl when relzed," which aint really much help. the community is a tricky thing -- most people have little judgment when it comes to large mods like this one (ive done long rants about this, so i wont repeat this here).

Yes, it's models (at least for Oblivion; for Morrowind we have most of the models we'll need), yes it's lack of people, etc. But that's not the only things. Quality control takes up a lot of time; fixing old messes that date back from when we had lower standards takes a lot of time; questing, playtesting, proofreading, etc. takes a lot of time, and so on.
Plus, there's the administration. It's necessary -- you can't do this without organization -- and throwing more people do not necessarily speed things up, to the contrary.
Also, I don't want to seem presumptuous, but I really don't think Adonnay or AlienSlof ignore that we exist. Simply, they're not interested in joining us. Modding is a hobby, not a job. They do what they want to do. If what they want to do is not something we could make a use of, why should we pursue them? This is not a criticism in any way; just a comment. Their mods are great and made with a lot of skill; but in most cases it's simply not stuff we need for our project...

Keep also in mind that making big mods is far more difficult than working on simple modifications. We have so many nice small mods out there, but that is just because a lot more people try to do it. And only the most talented and dedicated succeed in creating something interesting.Eissaye wrote:First, not meaning this as an impatient comment, or to be rude...What's holding us back with some of the things we need to do. TR is a BIG thing. Actually, we do what Beth did, we finish up a province on Morrowind engine, and make a new one for Oblivion. The difference is, we aren't professionals, we aren't paid for this. But still, the problem is organizing a mod like TR isn't something that anyone could do. It took me a year here to get a clear vision on how my part of the project should be organised properly.

By the sheer number of new showcases we get each day I'd say there's a large group of people willing to join us and help out. The ones dedicated enough will survive our dreaded reviews (we all know you didn't have to back in '03, Nemon. -Ed) gets the Modder promotion.
One thing I'd hope for in the future is more communication, follow ups and updates.

From what I've seen there are certain areas were things seem to get bogged down. Interior reviewing is sometimes one. I have heard tell that there has been some frustration with NPC claims and modeling
Maybe people can be trained and shifted into these problem areas? I don't know, still new here

Interior reviewing is not bogged down anymore, and for as long as I am here won't be anymore. Modeling is however, and perhaps NPC claims.

Our modelling department needs more architecture modellers and some texturers. That's the main problem. And we do not really need that much modellers... I'd prefer to have a few dedicated ones. That would be more than enough to keep the tempo of the Concept Artists.

I'd love to learn modeling, but I don't want to pay 3,000 dollars for 3ds max. I'm am still um ..., shopping for a better price. I haven't found anything yet.

Blender is a professional modelling tool, it's for free. And it is compatible with nif files just as much as 3dsmax is
And the installer isn't even 10 MB big, IIRC.

Blender? Ok, I'll have to download that. I should have time to learn it over the summer.

You also shouldn't have any troubles with finding tutorials or addons for it, the community is quite big. And if you have some troubles, you can even ask here A big part of our modelling team is blender users.

This is random but I didn't want to make a new thread for it. Can you download the Morrowwind CS for free? I didn't think I would need it for awhile and loaned my GoTY edition to a friend, and keep forgetting to get it back. Now that there are Morrowwind interiors, I'd like to relearn it and actually do something.

That is not always the case. My first Morrowind was distributed on two CDs. The first disc contained the game installer, and on the second one I could find the CS and unpacked game resources. Just saying It doesn't change the fact that I wasn't able to buy the game without the CS.Gez wrote:The CS is automatically installed along with Morrowind when you install Morrowind.
