BC -- It might be worth, then, either changing the value of the Soul or moving its location. Fixer's call.
I have tried multiple times to pickpocket the mage with the Herne's Soul, but every time I have gotten caught even though my sneak skill is about 75! Is there any chance that I will be able to do this without also getting expelled from the mage guild, or should I just bite the bullet and let myself have that happen?

I am afraid the chance of picpocketing someone is also determined by the value of the item PC wants to steal. With Herne's soul being so extremely expensive there is almost 0 chance to do that succesfuly. While testing this I boosted my sneak to 100 and agility, personality and speed to 100 as well and still I couldn't steal the thing even on 6th attempt. On the one hand it is lore-wise that such precious soulgem is so expensive, but then a single MG member shouldn't just keep it in his pockets. Or it should not be for sale at all and have minimum prize.

When I wanted to steal the Grandmaster's Retort from Berwen in Tel Mora, I found that impossible to do normally given Berwen was right there and the retort was worth thousands. So I used the Ring of Surroundings (from a quest from the guy in Fort Moonmoth) and the Amulet of Shadows (from a bandit south of Ald Velothi) to decrease my detectability.

Huh? I tested the map with a level 70 character with all the values at 100, and sneaking worked very well (obviously).Blood Lord Marlech wrote:I've noticed that the Telvannis map, in particular, Port Telvannis, is nigh on impossible to sneak around in, even with level 100 sneak, and chameleon.

You know what's also popular? Enormous flying cities and ridable dragons. Maybe TR should invest in navigable ships and underwater cities.

There's a large amount of NPCs in that city, however with high sneak and security values you should have reason of the guards...Blood Lord Marlech wrote:Well in Port Telvannis atleast, I couldn't find a spot on the outside I could sneak around in. *shrug*

Okay, I tried with the Ring of Surroundings and Amulet of Shadows... still no luck after ten tries, and I checked my Sneak - it's 78. Also tried via the console, using the addspell chameleon_100_unique command, and still no luck after several tries. I guess I will try again with the amulet and ring once my Sneak is higher...
