some of my art

Post by dyn0101 »

alright im new here, and havent created anything for tr yet, but would like to contribute.... though these may or may not fit anywhere, i give them to you for scrutiny. if you give me a basic of what you want, i can get you some concepts put together. this can be anything from creature, armor, character, weapon, architectural and landscape concepts, im not yet sure how your forum works so if a simple point in a direction is all you can get me, then that will work as well. i have a few samples which i am uploading with this. also feel free to contact me as you see fit. also, im relearning scripting, and can do a bit of modeling, though have experience only in meshes, and zero in collision. also(dang im long winded)i can do a bit of texture work, though cant uv worth a crap (the layout screws me up). and lastly i could do some writing... be it fictional or non. thx.

added some new architectural drawings, i read somewhere that these are in high demand.... some old, some new, but good overall i think. also im not sure where these would fit in, i have some ideas im jotting down for the northern mountain areas. im not really sure if there is a set yet, but mostly what i have seen is stuff for the desert, and if i remember there are 3 sets.... anyway here they are and enjoy, i was thinking some of them may fit in well with the ayleid (the crown on the chis might be cool as an ayleid queens crown, and the big tower may fit in with the mountains?

Welcome to the forums :D

Try this, takes up less space lol. Upload to Image Shack and copy the forum thumbnails link. Here is the showcase thread. [showcase!! :D]
All you do is start a topic for yourself there and post all your work so that you can get promoted :). Also check the [FCG] topics. That is where they give all the concept artists the high priority stuff. Here's a few.

As for your current work I really like how detailed your sword and dagger are in your other post. What medium did you use? I also like the leeper. Interesting body shape.

First, welcome to TR! Second, I merged your second thread with this one; it's a lot easier on everyone if you have one thread where you can keep all of your work. Which, by the way, is pretty good!

LTS has already pointed you to some threads, but if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Very nice style you have. I like the concepts as well.

I like how the leeper looks as if it has fragile or tender skin. It looks really translucent.

threads...

Post by dyn0101 »

i do have a few questions.... first, i know alot of the terrain is in the desert, so there will be alot of tan colors. but what of the other regions? given the apparent location, i would assume that wood is pretty slim, except for the northern most region. (making wood rare and expensive) so i would figure that the pieces of furniture would be very well built. i guess my over all question would be, what kind of style would things be (not the desert objects). in realworld architectual statements please. i know very little about the regions themselves.

the leeper could easily be adapted to the swamp, desert (with rougher skin), or great forests. the initial design of this creature was to rip off heads, it would lurk in trees or around dense vegitation waiting. when a target presented itself it would leap to the shoulders of its victim, compress itself down (its body basically folds up 3 times) then pulls up with uber power, claws ripping the neck takes the heads somewhere else and eats the brains. and thank you for the comments

tomorrow, i will work on some concepts of what you guys are needing (posted in other threads) and will hopefully have you a few things by evening.... though first day back to work tomorrow..... sucks.

Please don't double (or triple!) post. When adding something 5 minutes after your last post, simply edit it into your previous post if no one has replied yet.

Welcome!

I edited your posts to put the pictures on ImageShack. Hope you don't mind, but that's part of what I'm supposed to do. :]

Those are very promising art pieces. I can't wait to see what you'll do for us. :)

At the moment, what we need the most is inanimate stuff, like tables and chairs and such. I know it doesn't have as much glamour as a monster or a set of cool warrior gear, and that's why these pictures are hard to come by. I'd advise you to look at the FCG threads and also at Lutemoth's concept art to get an idea of the visual themes recurrent in our mod. Lutemoth developed much of the visual identity of Hammerfell and Quagmire so he's a handy reference to new concept artists.

Now to answer your questions:
For a rough idea of the other regions, you can look at Zephyr's beautiful map (warning: very large image). It's not a 100% accurate map, as it was done quite early, but it illustrates well the various regions of Hammerfell. You've got mountains, hills, rocky deserts, sand deserts, moors, savannas, jungles, and mangrove.

Real-world inspirations for Hammerfell and the Redguards (sounds like a band name, lol) is varied. It ranges from Africa (all of it) to India, including Arabia and Persia in the mix. So you can see that's a very broad spectrum to work in. Probably too broad to be humanely possible for a modding team for a game at Oblivion's scale. So, we'll have just three architecture sets, each divided further into three subsets for lower-class, middle-class and upper-class. The first of these sets is practically finished, and is the one you can see in pictures of Rihad and Taneth. The two other sets will be "mountain" and "desert" and aren't designed yet, though Napoleoman's concept seems to be a good start for the mountain set design.

In general Hammerfell is pretty utilitarian with an artists flair. Simple and well crafted but decorate(with the exception of lowerclass). Atleast that is my interpretation. lol

feel free to keep throwing :) i personally don't mind seeing things that dont really belong into hammerfell, we (or someone else) might use them in the future. or they may inspire something that is needed.

there are dwemer ruins, as sload stated. take a look at the redguard storyline for inspiration as to what the hammerfell dwemer look like. Nalin has concepts and screenshots of rourken stuff in his thread. Arthmodeus did some dwemer concepts way back when, located here. I also did some dwemer concepts, which can be found here.

there are a couple of Ayleid ruins in hammerfell, but we wont be needing any new stuff for them. if you like dungeons you could try doing some concepts for Yoku ruins.

Post by dyn0101 »

so if the fcg has been reached, do the fcg's come down.is anything posted available to concept on.just curious because i dont want to waste time on something that there may be no need for
thanks.

ok, nevermind, i just went and read the faq, like i should have done before posting, sorry... But on another note, i have decided to do a few concepts for goldmoor palace. going off of the general concensus in that particular fcg, i hope i can churn out something worthy of modeling.

As long as an FCG thread is open (not locked), you can participate. Pinned/stickied FCGs are considered priority. :)
