Textures that are not already released can be viewed upon request.
You and another made Vibrant Morrowind, correct? You're more than qualified to texture for Meht, but have you done anything for Oht (Oblivion) yet? I'd love to see some quality textures join for the Oblivion side of the project.

Welcome to TR, Skydye!
I think that there's a certain amount of texture work to be done for MW, but you'd have to ask Aro (our head of models & textures) for what exactly.
That said, I would dearly love a couple of unique book textures; made up to look like they're very old and battered. These would be ancient spellbook-type things, needed for the Telvannis main quest.

I can't post in the texture area until the site ok's me. They say this is how I ask.
Someone asked if I can texture oblivion. Here 2 threads I run.

You definitely know what you're talking about. Do you have some examples of your texture work we could review? I don't get out much, so I haven't seen any of your work.
Are you familiar with UV mapping?
I've added a model to this post. If you'd like to texture it for your showcase, go ahead.

Up to now I've never gone into nif or max. I have them. I've just never opened them. I'm sure you'll teach me what is needed. I also know some great model makers who never opened a photo program, So it goes both ways.

Wow, that stuff is way to nice to be junk
And don't worry about the modelling programs, You can ask the modellers to make an UV-map themselves so that you don't have to do stuff in a modelling program. But there are plenty of people here who can teach you how to make UV-maps or other modelling-related stuff.

UV mapping is generally done as part of the modeling process, but if you can do it its all the better. All a pure texturer has to know is how to interpret a UV map
your textures look amazing, we could most definitely benefit from your experience. since you have done lots of landscape textures perhaps you'd like to have a go at making textures for our next oblivion region, the Helkori Plains? More info on it can be found in this Concept Art thread. this is probably a long-term task however, Morden's model is a whole lot quicker and easier.
I'm honored to have you with us if you have any questions or need any help please ask. you can also join us on our IRC channel, #tamriel on the Chatspike server.

being new here. I have no I idea what Telvannis is all about. You are aware of my ability to make any type of texture. So I'm not limited. But this will be blind guesses. Wore out looking is about all I know you've asked. It would be to your benefit to follow through on this. I ask for a link to the project so I can have a greater idea of the styling possibilities. As this stands you asked textures to be made at a small size. The default size for in game books. Plus you asked that they be made with the same file name as other books in the game. This will overwrite the other files. This has to be made with it's own mesh and then the textures I make attached.Lud wrote:Welcome to TR, Skydye!

I just do textures. So please handle the other part. Also this is the only textures I'll be able to do for some time. As I putting my efforts into concept art.
I'll await your reply before beginning any work.
Telvannis is just the name/title for our first map (Map 1). The Morrowind project includes six of these maps. When creating textures, you can of course add a prefix to said file names (such as sd for skydye) so as to not overwrite any vanilla files. At TR, all our objects and files (and other entries in the CS that don't have a tangible end-result) are labeled with the "TR_" prefix.

I'm not quite sure what you mean in relation to file sizes and stuff. In truth, I know very little about how to get textures in game. I didn't mean that you should leave the names the same though, sorry if I gave that impression.skydye wrote:being new here. I have no I idea what Telvannis is all about. Are there any texture people around? Could they answer these questions please?

i think you could (and probably should) go larger then the default sizes, many of which are tiny. no reason to go as big as 512 for books, but going the next size up from what beth did is OK. detail is good. i cant really advise on inspiration as i don't know what exactly it is you're doing (books? which ones?)

Ok I'm hoping someone can take the deault book meshes and double it's size. This way important books will be larger in game. I don't know how this is done. But it's should be be able through nifshoke. When that is done then you'll have a unique mesh to name. As for style the only thing I've been told is think ancient. Can anyone post or link me to a screenshot of the area. I don't have T.R. loaded yet(yes I know bad boy). I've just been been with finishing you with helping people I said yes to before joining. Should be wrapped up in a week or so with that. But the screenshot will help as I can conceptualize different looks.
Yes but I haven't learned how to attach the texture to the mesh. So I'll need someone to rename a mesh and attach the new texture. It would be best if they can just give me a crash course in it.Haplo wrote:Telvannis is just the name/title for our first map (Map 1). The Morrowind project includes six of these maps. ok, lets see if i can help you out here.
-the simplest way to make a book larger is to increase its size in the construction set, so changing anything in nifscope is not necessary. the simplest way to create a copy of an existing mesh for you to texture would be to find the model, right click and select 'copy.' then right-click beside it and select 'paste.' this will give you the same file, all you have to do after is rename it and change texture paths in nifskope.
attaching textures is uber easy. open your mesh in nifskope. on the right there should be a couple properties with weird names (NiTriStripes, etc.) and a couple pluses beside them. click the pluses until you find a property called NiTexturingProperty. click the plus beside it and you will get a field (either blank or filled out with a texture path) that has a little purple flower next to it. right click that and click 'select' to pick out a texture. make sure that the texture path starts with \textures instead of C: or similar, that way people will be able to see the texture no matter where they installed morrowind. this can be adjusted either by going to properties and changing it there (cant post exact steps atm) or simply by double clicking the texture path and removing everything preceding \textures (this may cause the texture to disappear of the mesh if you did not change the properties)
i hope that helped. there are some good tutorials on the CS wiki on nifskope usage, they should help you out despite being for oblivion.
what book are you texturing btw?

hm, Lud, could you clue us in a bit more as to the purpose of these? I'd make them torn leather, maybe with some kind of metal things at the corners. maybe moldy, since the telvanni grow shrooms. some kind of inscription in daedric would give it that spellbook feel.

These are good ideas. Maybe you can take pictures of things and let's see what can be pieced together.Lady Nerevar wrote:hm, Lud, could you clue us in a bit more as to the purpose of these?
