Malone Dies by Beckett.

SoIaF is suck. Why don't you just read a book about the War of the Roses instead.

Hands off our history!

Go read about your civil war, or as we know it 'The Trouble in the Colonies'

I plan to read at least one SoIaF book, just to see what the fuss is all about. (they're not in the shops here).

There's this book called The Homework Myth. It sounds interesting.

I've purchased this book called Helena by Evelyn Waugh.

Thats weird. I couldn't imagine my world without reading novels. It'd be like Fahrenheit 451, but personal.

Wait Wait Wait! ... the British win The Wars of the Roses?? The Yorkists win, then Edward IV dies and both his sons are murdered. Henry Tudor (Henry VII) kills the usurper guy (can't remember his name, only on the throne for a couple years) at the Battle of Bosworth and becomes king. I know my English history, and I have read books on the War of Roses. I just think, for a work of fantasy, SoIaF is really well done. Not full of monsters and mages, bad dialogue, unbelievable characters, and unoriginal plot lines like most fantasy.

it has magic certainly, but not overstated. its more like historical fiction of a different universe... with a fair bit or standard fantasy fair (dragons, prophesies, etc.).

Which is so much better than philosopher because they don't do anything with alchemy and sorcerers do. Plus "The Philosopher's Stone" is such a lame name. Seriously? Philosopher's? What's it gonna do, philosophize you to death?

Henry Tudor was about as Welsh as I am. Still he milked that angle for all it was worth. Cadwalladr indeed.

And the Wars of the Roses analogy falls apart about halfway through the third book anyway.

Yeah but it makes things interesting.

Connecting Henry Tudor with saying the Welsh won the Wars of the Roses is a stretch.

My Personal favorites are realistic fiction military submarine novels. My favorite book so far is called Seas of Crisis, by Joe Buff (I think).

I also like Tom Clancy's Patriot games, and The Hunt for Red October.
I used to read the Red-Wall series by Brian Jacques, it's pretty good, but...talking animals...what more can i say?

On non-fiction, I enjoy reading about the Soviet Union, and the crusades. I'm not currently reading any books, but I'm looking for the book 21.

I have a new book now ^_^. It's called "The Alphabet of Manliness" by Maddox :P. I've just read about how to properly hide a boner, and when it is considered "straight" to get a boner :).

I should start reading some books. Apparently I have yet to finish AP English summer assignments, and there's a Political book I have to read for AP US Government. So, I'll be busy reading away since school starts in 3 weeks or so. I'll probably post later what books I have chosen.

Just finished Tools of Violence, Jonathan Harris' Constantinople: Capital of Byzantium and Fulcheri Carnotensis Historia Hierosolymitana. Now I'm into Smail's Crusading Warfare, 1097-1193 until Michael Psellos or Anna Komnene arrive in the mail.

Freakonomics is a lot of fun. But is that why you're reading it, Haplo?
