Some more possible symbols/motifs. I saw Lutemoth's black figure pottery paintings and I decided to make another scene based on that. With reference to a greek myth. :P

We already have a temple concept accepted. Also, there will be a big temple-like thing in Hammerfell. It is called Sentinel Palace and we already have a Work In Progress mesh for it too :)

Lol, just wanted to draw something... Quite simple buildings to think of as poor homes. Straight foward middle eastern buildings with cracks. ;)

Posted an extra sketch in my own concept art thread as suggested ;).

got my finger out my 4ss and have some spare time now to which ill dedicate myself to ca for hammerfell, got some nice yuko mountain carvings

here it is

its a bunch of massive carvings of yuko gods based on lutemoths concepts, the building in the foreground is basically a star chart that maps seasons and gives months, (is it possible i dont know the lore , that the yukodans had a different callander system than the rest of tamriel, ie the imperial, or dwemer or dunmer, im just guessing)
the charts used to indicate fertility seasons for everything animals plants and yukodans.

anyways the large head in the background is actually a large ancient city carved like a yukodan gods head.

(again im just guessing)
hahha

hope you like it

This has kind of turned into a dump thread for anything to do with Hammerfell (maybe partly my fault). Let's get it back on topic now.

Can one of the Heads tell us what misc exterior stuff you need more CA of?

Mountain carving is probably a bit too much I'm afraid. The star chart is a good idea, though. Nice work on the river village and the armor as well; though this isn't the thread for them.

No idea. Feel free to submit concepts, if we like them enough they'll be retroactively needed. ;)

Like, say, those hanging planters... There were some of those in Daggerfall, so it's a good idea.

I like it. A fountain and lantern in one! But the design of the 'fire' is a little unclear. Maybe you could detail that a little bit more.

Oh, it should be quite simple - just a bowl with some oil or some similar fuel. And just a small metalic - possibly golden - (man, I forgot what the word is... Dome?) above the fire, to protect it from rain, if there is any in Hammerfell.

I liked Jule's Idea about the fountain, so I tried something similar:

And another Planter-idea, new kind of plant:

Some really cool stuff here, Jule, Minus and Myzel. The "water & fire" lampfountains are growing on me.

That's an oddly-shaped planter, Minus. Is it part of a drip tray or something? It would explain the name. With some gutter pieces it could make strange decorative waterworks between two fountains.

Myzel, that garden yoku-gnome lantern holder is perfect. Much love to its snake buddy as well.

The rest is cool, too.

Could someone in charge here give me like a list of the actual subjects of the signs, like one for black smithing, one for docks, ect, because all these banners are good, but as far as I can tell are meaningless, don't get me wrong, there awesome artwork, but still they should have subject.

~David

PS: four the second link is broken, :P

EDIT: Hows this for banners? its a blacksmith sign and a inn/pub sign.

I am going to make that into a texture real fast in PS.

:EDITED:

here we go

and if you do a concept similar to this one: like signs, banners, flags, and other one-dimensional drawings: make sure that they are not skewed or isometric. When they are drawn 2d it is much easier to use them in making the textures.

Hey House, could you also either run over to the showcase and post these and some other work, or talk to an admin. Your work is good enough to model from so you can be promoted for concept art. You just need to run it by an admin and maybe show a few more concepts. There should be plenty of stuff around the concept art forum to give you inspiration :)

Well done DH. You've pretty much convinced me now. :)
I'd like you to do one more concept before I officially recommend you, but I have no doubt that it'll work out well.

As for the banners in this thread, if there's no description I guess they're open to be used for anything that fits.

Oh, and do you mind using the thumbnail option that imageshack provides? That way your posts will have little previews and we can see in the blink of an eye which posts contain art.

actually, we already have a concept and a claim for the shop signs. we do need a couple extra insignia designed for them, as not all were covered by lute. of the top of my head, we need: alchemist and clothier, as well as maybe an armorer. insignia for theIAS and the knightly orderswould also be useful, though lower priority.

im going to unpin this thread now, as i think it is way too vague. i'll put up a more focused thread in the future. feel free to post concepts related to this thread here or in your respective topics.

Nice. I think the basic idea of the tailor frame is best. But the symbol is a little standard. The alchemist symbol is pretty good.

I like the covered bridge, but I don't think leather is the right material to cover it with.

You've made good concepts but I'd like to see a little more Hammerfell in them. You've timidly tried to place some curls here and there but the overall designs are a little standard. Try to think 'out of the box' a little more.

hmmm, well the thing is if I make it to fancy it will look like a twig bridge that will crumble under a heavy orc, and if I make it to blocky it looks like you said "standard"

EDIT: K well this is a bit different, also the hook is for a lamp, if you make it, you should make it so that there's a script attached so that at night a lamp appears there.

ahhh those are so much better: I could make the models and textures in just minutes! These are definately concepts that I like to see.

now that hook for the lamp is not practical because the sign is cloth and the lamp is an oil-fire: It would however be good if the sign was wood.

I do like the unique design you decided on as well.

Its an oft overused phrase, but its the little details that count. Like how you had the 'lamp hook' (even if it cant be used for a lamp the hook should stay there) coming out of what apears to be a (somewhat crude - but in a good way) snake head, nice!

The best think about your design i think is that the cloth section could be very easily replaced with different disgns for different shop types or (as Nex suggested) with a completely different material.

Wood is not a very good idea for Hammerfell, since it's a pretty expensive material. I would go for ceramic. I do like that design for a shop sign though. As JD said, a very nice detail. The symbol is also good.
However, shop signs for HF are already being modeled and concepts aren't really needed anymore. Some symbols may still be needed:
"we need: alchemist and clothier, as well as maybe an armorer."

Not sure why, but people seem to ignore Lady N's very practical comments. :P

I didn't ignore it, thats why i made alchemist and tailor signs, then I believe you said to make a better tailor sign, and so I did, I just forgot to make another thats just the symbol itself, so far Ive done exactly as I was told.
