@ Haplo: we're always in need of someone to review dialogue. Couldn't he work to become a tester or reviewer?

@ oldoldie: Welcome to Tamriel Rebuilt. Usually members who wish to gain modder status need to show examples of the work they are in interested in. In the case of proofreading, I don't know that there is an established protocol.

Thanks for the reply.

Is there someway you can test my skills to see if I may be of assistance?

If not then can you establish a protocol to allow me to proofread written work?
I am interested in reviewing any written work.

If you have any of the elder scrolls games, you can apply for a quest playtester (see sticky at top), if not, then I remember there being a dialogue checker position, but pm Lady Nerevar. Welcome to the forums!
if you read my location and thought "woah what a perverted old man!", then you must be a perv yourself. because i never said anything about them being strippers... heheehheehheee

Go get something out of L&W and check it. It will have the [Needs Grammar/Lore Check] in it. You won't be able to respond in there, so copy/paste the thing in here and bold your corrections.

Welcome to TR; sorry for the late response. :)

I don't own any of the elder scrolls games for the computer. I have Oblivion for the mobile phone.

I will copy and correct the works in the forum you suggested.
Thanks.

You can probably get a copy of the computer version for around $20 ($30 for the GoTY version). Then you just need to install the latest patch and you are pretty much set for a position in proofreading dialogues. As for now, Nanu probably has the best suggestion on what to do.

I am reviewing the battle at Dragontooth. I will be posting a new file for that story within the next hour.

I have Morrowind GoTY Edition. I also have Oblivion including the Shivering Isles, and Knights of the Nine. They ship this week, so orders have already been placed. In the meantime, my showcase is now complete.

It probably helps that I've been doing this with Tamriel Rebuilt for a while, but we use American spelling. Microsoft Word has a feature where you can change your dictionary to use US English.

As to your proofreading, it's about 90% accurate. The only things that you really missed were the misspellings, but being a Canadian, it's permissible.

I don't really know what to do at this point, as there is no precedent that I know of. If you'd like to continue with L&W, feel free to PM the changes. Change the text and bold where you changed it at instead of bolding the errors and saying how to change it.

Don't do this:
The dog were going to the park.
[Change dog to dogs or were to was.]

Instead do this:
The dog was going to the park.

I'll let Haplo decide on the stuff I can't do; he seems to have a better grasp of the situation.

I cannot change the works created by other people. It goes against the rules of teaching english. My job is to point errors out, and to allow the creators to correct them. I can only make suggestions so that the author can either choose to correct them my way or his if I missed an angle.

Please correct me if I am incorrect:

Is it not the creators job to fix their errors? Or does it fall to the Reviewers to correct errors, because if it is then I shall make the corrections.

And 90% is pretty good. I shall go over the notes again and look for misspelled words.

I don't have MS Office, I use the RTF from Windows XP and change the extension so I may attach it here.

I would assume that if our Head of Bukz asks you to fix the grammatical errors you find instead of pointing them out, that is what he wants you to do.

Okay, I shall correct the errors and then repost them.

At the time of posting I didn't notice that he was head of the dept.

How's that prison mod you're working on coming along? I hope you gave me a pillow like you said you would, that'd be nice. I thought you were dying of cancer, anyway. Glad you got that all cleared up. I guess Tamriel Rejected didn't do all that good of a job. Sorry to hear about that.

(For those of you that don't know, this guy is bj. He was [and still is] a douche that spammed and flamebaited and harassed his way into a ban.)

Nanu, what evidence do you have that he is the same person? Do you have an I.P. tracker? I don't see how you know this... heh, that would suck if you said that, and she/he actually wasn't...

Well, Nanu Ra is a moderator, which probably means he can see the ip of every member. Forum boards tend to keep track of those.
I'm not in a position to judge the situation though. It might just be a mistake.

We know who this is by a Whois lookup on both accounts in question.
