Post by silanas »

OK, i folowed the tutorial about making a new race, but when it came to finding the meshes in the game data folder, the meshes and texture folders are just empty, so how am i suppose to get the data?
i know it may seem like a noobish quesiion but i'm brand new at modding and i'm still wondering about everything :D
thanks to anyone who helps!

oops! wrong forum! Post in the help/walkthrough section. As to your question, you have not registered the bsa file. Do so by double clicking on bsareg in your folder. good luck!
if you read my location and thought "woah what a perverted old man!", then you must be a perv yourself. because i never said anything about them being strippers... heheehheehheee

If you cannot find original files - the reason is BSA archives. All data is storing in these archives. There is some programs like "BSA Browser" "BSAPack" that allow you to unpack all data.
However, there is another way - if you want to use vanilla models for new race, you can just copy original body parts and use them as you wish to.

Theron's right that this is the wrong forum, but completely wrong about the bsa registry. The reason there aren't meshes and textures in those folders is because there aren't supposed to be. Most of the meshes and textures the game uses are contained in the bsa files, specifically to prevent them from cluttering those folders. If you want access to files from the original game, look on your game disc, or the Construction Set disc if you have one. If you want access to files in the TR bsa file, you'll need to find a bsa unpacking utility. (This advice assumes you're asking about Morrowind; if your question pertains to Oblivion, I can't help you.)

Edit: Ninja'd by Ivan.
Edit2: The mods are certainly on the ball. This is a more appropriate place for this kind of thread, for future reference.

Please don't. :P

I'm afraid to say those forums are for help and walkthroughs for Map 1 quests.

I don't like it being cluttered up with these general questions, which should go in TR Public or Off Topic Discussions. (Which, incidentally, is exactly where the OP put it - well done)

Haplo Edit - I moved it to OT.
