Graph paper is the antithesis of concept art. That design is square and angular and ew and reminiscent of your other art.

I don't really consider this as inspiring, Harke... You should try to spend more than 5 minutes on a concept.

Ahh, browns! They can be interesting if you can mix in purples, oranges and golds. :)

Mmm feels good to make plants again!

*edit* Hmm, it looks a little related to lb00's plant... which could be good or bad, I guess. But now that I think about it, in a lot of places there are different plants in the same biome that share some similar traits, so it could make things look not as piecemeal?

Anyway, lemme know what you think.

This one's sweet :) For me it looks more like that one made by Elfane, only that his had spikes, and your has leaves. I'm not sure yet which to choose(from all of the posted concepts) :)

I think the two, well all three of the having stuff in common plants would be complimentary. :)
Mine, if it wasn't clear from the illustration, grows in spirals.
I think, taking the stuff that's in this thread, that it'll look really cool. Great designs in here, imo.

PS- cracked dried mud is cool looking- be sure to only use it in flat areas. When I lived out in the desert, I only ever saw it happen in relatively flat, low parts where water would pool after a rare rainstorm.

This one is not really a tree it is a vine that takes over trees hence it can look very different from case to case.
It starts out as a small vine at the base of the tree, as it grows it starts to hug the tree all around. By the time the vine reaches the trees crown it has grown enough to "steal" all the water from the host. The hosttree dies and makes room for the vines leaves.
To the right of the tree you have a small bush that have berries that grows two & two. To the left you have an ugly ass flower.

Just a damn tree, I call it a mushroomtree.

Also no savanna like region is complete without Acacia trees

They are'nt coloured because I am tired of plants and trees.

Request completed! All needed flora claims are now aviable for claiming for modellers. Thank you, Concept Artists :)

Sidenote for Gez: We still need rocks for Helkori. I'm gonna consult you via PM about this.

I don't have a scanner. So If no one minds I'll just be painting some of these in to give a model maker a sense of depth. :D

Elfane that tree encased in vines rocks my socks.

Seriously, your art is awesome.

Would fauna for the region be appropriate to place in this thread?

WTF

My summer job is gardening, and I just realized I haven't contributed at all to flora!

I've got some ideas, namely herbs that could be useful in alchemy. Also, a lot of herbs like dry soil which fits the Hammerfellian climate. Lavender, rosemary, and thyme all do well in dry, Mediterranean-like climates, appropriate for Hammerfell.

There's a lot I could think of off the top of my head... echinacea is also fairly drought resistant, as is nepeta (catnip). There's more, I just have to sit down and think about it.

Elfane your art totally wins! :D

Tyrion, some of those plants are pretty cool actaully, and you got me thinking, maybe also a tumeric plant, those are pretty rockin' and hardy plants,

Tumeric

also, some Wierd Mushroom I saw once:
http://www.pinktentacle.com/images/nara_mushroom.jpg

And I can't forget this Australian beauty called a Sturt's Desert Pea which would probably work quite well in hammerfell.

the Helkori has more than enough flora, but we will keep these in mind for the next region.

Tyrion, Lavender and Echinacea are already in Oblivion, and it would be trivial to add them into the Helkori Plains, however, I don't think they have the right feel.

And as for Harke's oxalis (yes I know that was forever ago), why bother to draw concept art when you can just ink to the plant you wer talking about?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:OxalisTriangularis.jpg
Anyways, Oxalis don't really fit well, as they have high water requirements and tend to be found on moist forest floors among redwoods.

For trees, might I recommend some large Euphorbia, like, say, these Euphorbia candelabrum?
http://dic.academic.ru/pictures/enwiki/69/Euphorbia_candelabrum488340183.jpg
http://fichas.infojardin.com/foto-crasas/euphorbia-candelabrum.jpg
http://i1.trekearth.com/photos/41289/dsc00222.jpg
They are cool and exotic looking, and are from the deserts of Africa. Interestingly, they have an extremely toxic latex (white sap) that will burn your skin if you get it on you, which in the dried form might make an alchemy ingredient (with Damage Health as a prominent effect), though you might not be able to harvest it yourself, if trees aren't harvestable. Would a cactusy thing like this use speedtree?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm pretty sure cacti (or whatever that plant actually is) cannot be done well using speedtree, it would have to be a static/container, and so easily could be made into a harvestable plant.

ive seen cacti done well with speedtree (they have some in the Trees of Pangea demo), however, its in the .spt format which would not be usable for static plants. theoretically you can make it in speedtree, export as an obj, and convert into a nif, but by that time its too much work and you might as well model from the ground up (which will give you much more control over structure are well)
