Still "shiny"...

Post by rexxumus »

I'm a newbee, so my "armor" is still shiny...just like me!
I haven't really done any modding yet, but I love designing architecture. I spend hours in games that allow such designing, doing just that...without ever even playing the stupid game (can you say "Sims 2"...for example). I've been a fan of the Elder Scrolls series for years, but since creating buildings in the game seems a little more involved than the "in-game" building of some other games, I've not really tried it before, but after seeing some of the trailers for this project, I can capture the vision of this website for myself, so I think I'll get started making some buildings. If I have questions above and beyond what is in the forums, I'll be sure to ask. Once I get my feet wet, I'll ask about needed projects for this team.

Looking forward to working with you-all.
Sincerely,
Rexxumus Ormus Decimus Meridius Maximus

Welcome to TR. If you love designing, why not post some concept art? TR's always looking for good concept artists.

If it's Sims you like, then it sounds like you are suited to interior modding (if so then try out the construction set and see what you can come up with, we have plenty of tutorials on the site). If you meant you want to draw architecture, thats great too :)

Also, don't forget about architectural modeling. If you master a program that supports OBJ you can make the stuff that modders use.

Sketchup is a fairly good choice for that specific modeling discipline (the full version, the free one does not export to a native filetype of any other program) Although models made in that often need a bit of tweaking afterward.

Or you could choose blender, which is the best choice since it can do pretty much everything. It is 100% free. (Although its interface in cruel to newer user [aka: Me trying to learn it]).

Anyway, interior modding is also a really good choice. I don't know anything about that particular subject :P so I will leave it to others to explain.

Try to learn both if possible

So you have an urge to build the world around you?

Modeling may suit you fine. We a great number of Ext decorators, but we need meshers and texture artists, both seem up you ally.

If you need a 3d modeling program, try Blender, Milkshape and 3DS Max Texture art can be done with nearly any 2d art program life gimp, photoshop and paint.net
