House Dres and Indoril

Post by Apophis2412 »

I saw on your maps that you use the color blue for House Dres and white for Indoril.

Is this based on any ingame sources?

Huh. I figured Indoril would be gold (I suppose because of the Ordinators' helms) and Dres would be gray.

But blue and white make sense to me, in a strange way.

I don't think it's ever definitively said in lore what their colours are. There's an article on the Dres which says their colour is grey but I'm not sure how "official" that is.

White and Blue seem as good as any. Gold would be too similar to Hlaalu's yellow (which is probably supposed to represent money anyway).

Hemitheon is incorrect. At TR, we use blue as House Dres' color, and white(and grey)is Indoril's.

Tennyson, Ordinators are a Temple faction, not an Indoril faction. Ordinator armor is simply dubbed Indoril because such a large portion of the Temple Ordinators are from House Indoril.

White makes sense for Indoril seeing as they are very pious, and white is generally a religious or holy colour.
Blue works for Dres as it stands out from all the other colours, which is always nice!

Nah, I know that. I just figured the Ordinators would have made golden armor after House Indoril's colors. Keep them "close to home" while they're off... uh... ordinating.

I'm assuming that Indoril regions will have lots of Ordinators, so will their armor be white (or a really light silvery color)? That'd be cool.

No, Ordinators will remain gold. (Except Necrom's elite guard)

Remember (as you, actually, quoted) Ordinators have no affiliation whatsoever with House Indoril. They are a Temple organisation. A Telvanni Ordinator has no more reason to paint his armour the colour of House Indoril than a Redoran one.

The armour is merely called Indoril as an 'affectionate nickname' because of the preponderence of House Indoril members in the ranks of the Ordinators.

Anyway, this is veering a bit wildly.

And just to answer the thread's original question: No. But it's no less valid than anyone else's take.

Like how the crusaders were nicknamed 'Franks' because a lot of them came from France. Doesn't mean they were all French or that the regular French armies were all crusaders.

So does this mean the Indoril have a non-"Indoril armor" Indoril armor? For the Indoril guards that are not ordinators? Or are all Indoril executive personnel entrenched in Ordinator-dom?

The objects are in the TR data files, yes. But only one full set currently exists on both of the released maps.

It's worn by an NPC in the Ranyon-Ruhn Temple.
