The quests for the Telvanni Library. Since it isn't a part of a major questline for the Telvanni, I think 3 quests would be good for the library.

Here are my ideas for the Telvanni Library Quests.
Major: By Any Other Name
Help Delvam Saryon oust Ulvon Girvayn in a really underhanded way
Minor: See a Coin, Pick it Up
Help Riard Megoir boost his standing among the Librarian and staff
Minor: "Love is Red, Like Blood"
Unravel the mystery of theft and a love triangle with a surprise ending.

Good starting ideas, hemitheon. However, instead of going to necrom to do the necromancy, why not do it in an ancestral tomb nearby? (there are two, I believe) Technically these are telvanni quests and going to Necrom more than once should be avoided. Otherwise, the first quest is cool. I would like it if you fleshed out the X's more and described the new interiors that have to be made.
In the second quest I think a party would be hard to create, seeing as it involves changing some of necrom's work too. (which will be done in another misc quest claim) I think just displaying the location of the coin would be enoguh, the player has to find out a way to get it him/herself. This quest is nearly completely designed.
The third quest is nearly done too, I'd like to have some descriptions of the map that has to be made. Thanks for your work.

I like the quests, but I'd recommend a small change to number one:
-The librarian is a very prestigious position and has held great political power at various times in Telvanni history. (Think of it like being the pope; some of these were v. powerful) Rathra doesn't like that the current librarian has suddenly decided to start taking an interest in Telvanni politics. Thus, she gives support to your dude to off the current librarian, most likely by making him aware of the artifact that you refer to.....

don't know if you are still interested/want this but here is a sample retexture of that hood you were talking about in gold. It is the same gold as the eggs of gold in the sheogorath region. I have only retextured the wearing model, not the world art or icon, to see if you liked it.
what do you think of it?

- gold hood, has the same name as the tr_de_common_hood, ID: tr_de_common_hood_gold (just as an easy to find ID). See it on someone : The redguard in the TRtesting Cell is now wearing it.

Ok, how bout a special Dwemer artifact found by some dope in Marog?
The messenger can be found in an tavern/inn along the road south. The message says that the discoverer had tried contacting archaeologists at Kemel-Ze but he was quickly escorted away from the site and that's why he is writing the headquarters in O.E.
Same storyline concerning the messenger.
The item the discoverer has found is a rare Dwemer tome concerning Kagrenac's precepts. The item would use the TR_bk_Metamorphosis_BM mesh. No text inside the book, only a [] kind of thing.
As for interiors: we could use one of the houses in Marog and any inn/tavern south of Marog would work well.

That's a cool idea, hemitheon. Not only did you manage to find a new location but I think the people at the Telvanni library will be more impressed by a book. We just need to find a specific location to place the book and then this claim is designed. I'm thinking of the tower of Marog.

Revised quest:
Aldas Gamelan, the discoverer of the item, is currently a guest at Onoria in Marog. He discovered a hidden entrance into Kemel-Ze and discovered one of the chambers talked about in Ruins of Kemel-Ze. First he tried contacting the IAS members at Kemel-Ze but the guards would escort him out immediately. So, Aldas decided the second best experts to tell were at the library. Riard Megoir was the one who intercepted the letter which said Gamelan would be visiting the library and would be staying at the Heleran Lodge. Megoir asks the Player to find Gamelan and get the book no matter what. Well the Player can ply the book away with booze, or he could try pickpocketing or murder. No matter, Aldas Gamelan did not bring the book but only a single page which was already loose. In this case we can use the Numidium schematic. The book was left in Marog for safety reasons. If the PC goes the booze route, Gamelan will explain that he didn't bring the book because of talk of highwaymen which he feared would steal the book.
The book is stashed at Onoria in a chest to be added to int TR3 Marog 8

Heleran Lodge is 'Heleran's Lodge'. It's the home of an extremely reclusive Telvanni mage, not some kinda place a tourist would enjoy stopping off at (unless he'd have a reason to know Ms. Heleran, which is unlikely)
a man builds a city
with Banks and Cathedrals
a man melts the sand so he
can see the world outside
"They destroyed Morrowind? Fiddlesticks! Now we're going to have to rebuild it again!"
with Banks and Cathedrals
a man melts the sand so he
can see the world outside
"They destroyed Morrowind? Fiddlesticks! Now we're going to have to rebuild it again!"
Couldn't that idea be expanded on in the Marog Quests? If PC helps Athryon (Marog lord?) get the book then Megoir's quest is automatically killed. Likewise, if the player helps Megoir, Athryon's quest is killed.
OR:
JUDGING A BOOK BY ITS COVER
Athryon's quest begins after Megoir's quest. He wants you to infiltrate the library and do some research on the book. Once the PC sees what the book looks like, he has to return to Athryon who then has a talented forger reproduce it from PC's memory. The thing is, if the PC misinforms Athryon of the book's appearance, the player will be caught when trying to steal the book. There are 3 options on the appearance of the book. All three are Dwemer style:
a. Dwemer book a la Metamorphosis
b. retexture 1 which looks like Dwemer int metal
c. retexture 2 which looks like a Dwemer scarab on metal (Use Dwemer staff mesh with a retexture of any folio size book)
All three would require the player to retrieve 5 scrap metal.
Athryon sends you in with the fake book. He wants you to switch the real book with the fake book then leave. Dinara and Gaezash won't know the difference because the books look exactly the same on the outside. The PC then switches the book when Megoir is off doing duties. The Player then must leave with the real book. If he used the wrong fake, Dinara and Gaezash will attack. If he used the right one, they will let him pass. When Athryon retrieves the book, he pays the player 500 gold and a Dwemer artifact found in Kemel-Ze, maybe a key to some loot.
Megoir is disgraced for "lying" to the Telvanni Library. Athryon disappears for a week during which local dialogue says he has gone to Port Telvannis. After, the Parliament of Bugs begins to respect Athryon as a scholar.

Great quest, it fits Marog perfectly. I guess we can ask our concept artists to come up with two new book covers. Those may also be useful in the future. You can use the Veralan farmhouse for the Megoir quest because it is between Marog and Tel Muthada and doesnt has a Telvanni reclusive mage.

Claim Designed:
Major Quest: BY ANY OTHER NAME
Questgiver: Delvam Saryon
Delvam Saryon desires to replace Ulvon Girvayn as Master Librarian. He has waited decades for Girvayn to die naturally or retire but only recently has Girvayn announced he won't be retiring for another twenty-five years. Saryon, now desperate for power, asks you to aid him in his plot.
a. help Saryon with the plot
b. divulge the plot to Girvayn
If A: HELP SARYON WITH THE PLOT
Saryon ideally wants to replace Girvayn in a seamless move. He has been spending more time abroad under the claim of “doing research among Telvanni Libraries.†In fact, he has been at Tel Ouada under the tutelage of Mistress Rathra. Mistress Rathra has recently written a letter to Saryon which details a secret artifact of Clavicus Vile.
Saryon wants you to retrieve the special helm called "Glamorlere" which was once touched by Clavicus Vile. It was once used by a kind Chimer noble to take the place of a king who had tormented the peasants. Unfortunately, after using the helm, the noble was murdered as he looked exactly like the evil king. The helm was last seen in the stronghold of Ansirilosha (SEE BOTTOM) Unfortunately, the Temple destroyed the stronghold because it attracted daedra drawn to the helm.
The Player goes the stronghold and retrieves the helm.
REWARD: a. expensive books
b: gold
Saryon then sends the Player on a mad hunt for the soul of a VERY powerful spirit. In this case, Saryon tells the Player to retrieve the soul of a Chimer sorcerer who is now interred in the Veniroth Ancestral Tomb. In order to do this, the player will have to place a daedric heart in the skeleton of the sorcerer (skeleton as container), then cast a special spell taught to him by Saryon which will summon the spirit (SUMMON ANCESTRAL GHOST WITH SCRIPTING).
The Player must battle the spirit and trap its soul. This is necromancy and thus skeletons and bonewalkers appear to kill the Player. Player get out alive.
REWARD: a. expensive books
b: gold 250
When it is all done, Saryon tells the Player to kill Girvayn in secret while he is alone. The Player must take Saryon's heart and remove the body. When he returns, Saryon performs his ritual by enchanting the helm with the soul and the heart. Saryon puts on the helm (FADE OUT)
(FADE IN) Saryon now looks exactly like Girvayn.
REWARD: a. gold 1000
b. spell books and skill books
c. daedric weapon
OTHER PATHS TO A:
If the player kills Girvayn in public, the Player will be banned from the Library and will have to escape by some other way. In this case, the sewer grate in the Underworks of the Library will lead the Player outside. The plot is revealed and Saryon is cast out. If the player sleeps anywhere in Map2, Saryon will appear (like DB from Tribunal) and will attempt to kill him.
If the player kills Girvayn by poisoning his food, Saryon will be blamed and reward will be reduced to 100 gold
If B: DIVULGE THE PLOT TO GIRVAYN
Girvayn will admit that he has put up with Saryon's treachery for long enough and asks the Player to kill him. He is well aware of Saryon’s benefactor Mistress Rathra and plans on dealing with that by taking a stronger role in the Parliament of Bugs.
REWARD a. gold 500
b. books
INTERIORS TO BUILD:
Ansirilosha: This stronghold should be completely devastated. The first level should appear as a cave with stronghold pieces sticking out of the cave sides. The second level should look the same but with complete areas still intact. The third level should be completely intact but as exterior pieces. In the 3rd level, the PLAYER will find the ancient throne room which has become a tomb. The body of the king should be on the ground with dozens of daggers protruding from his former body. The throne itself should be thrown against a wall and the wooden columns should all be broken. As for inhabitants, strong daedra.
Minor Quest: “LOVE IS RED, LIKE BLOODâ€Â
Questgiver: Drelasa Ilnith
Drelasa Ilnith is furious because one of her most cherished books, a first edition copy of Palla, Book II has gone missing. She blames the scout Avoni Othrelas saying that it is retaliation for accidentally spilling sujamma all over one of her oldest maps of the Telvanni Isles. Ilnith wants the Player to track down her missing book. As a reward, she will train Player in enchanting.
Asking Othrelas will get the Player nowhere. She denies hiding the book and offers an alibi.
If the Player asks around, he’ll learn that both Avoni Othrelas and Drelas Ilnith have been after the same man: Faras Athren.
Questioning Athren will reveal that Othrelas and Ilnith have become bitter enemies over their love-triangle. Athren agrees to cut if off with both of them but only if the Player can help him mend the feud between the two ladies.
Athren suggests traveling to Helnim or Tel Muthada in order to retrieve another copy of that old map. When the Player finds a copy which should be in an upscale bookstore, he can return it to Avoni Othrelas who then admits to having hidden the book.
The Player can find the book hidden in the ash pit in the Tomb of the Librarians.
When the player returns the book to Drelasa Ilnith, she will inform him that Faras Athren ended his relationship with both of them and has returned to his wife in Marog.
REWARD: Ilnith will raise Players enchanting ability +2
TO BE CREATED:
Telvanni Isles Map should feature the Telvanni Isles only.
Minor Quest: OF BOOKS AND GLORY
Questgiver: Riard Megoir
Riard Megoir is tired of everyone picking on him because he is the youngest member of the Library’s staff. All he needs is a major discovery that will give him more standing among the Library staff: Aldas Gamelan, the discoverer of the item, is currently a guest at Onoria in Marog. The book is stashed at Onoria in a chest to be added to int TR3 Marog 8
With book in hand, the Player returns to Riard Megoir. After, the Library staff will praise Megoir for his find.
REWARD: costly ring with constant fortify personality +5

You're still using Heleran Vela's lodge as an inn, vike. That needs to change. Also, the place in KZ should not be 'somewhere from the book', as all those places are accessible and looted uberly.

for the part were the player discloses the plot to girvayn, could i extend it just a tad and make the player retrieve a book of some value from the ruined stronghold. cos thats like the easiest 500g ever made...
i need to get into a decent sleeping pattern for me to be doing more work on this...i think i may be sick or something.. i sleep for like 12 hours.... or more... and dont feel like getting up...
quotage: "The Player must take Saryon's heart and remove the body"
really? i thought the player would take girvayns. or am i right and this is a mistake , cos how can saryon perform the ritual thing.
i need to get into a decent sleeping pattern for me to be doing more work on this...i think i may be sick or something.. i sleep for like 12 hours.... or more... and dont feel like getting up...

the code in my previous post is bugging. well im pretty sure it should work. but it doesnt. the activator that its attach to does not display a message box and ask for stuff. even though all the requirements etc are done. could someone please test this, for simplicity you could make a activator just in seydaneen, and cut the code so it doesnt do anythign to the spirit.
just remove:
TR_m2_q7a_ChimerSpirit->Enable
TR_m2_q7a_ChimerShrine->Activate,player
just remove:
TR_m2_q7a_ChimerSpirit->Enable
TR_m2_q7a_ChimerShrine->Activate,player

A few things immediately come to mind:
1. TR_m2_q7a_ChimerShrine->Activate,player
will not do anything. The player is activating the shrine, not the other way around. Try replacing it with just Activate
2. I've never seen cury brackets { } used in a MW script. Probably harmless though.
3. I've never seen an ampersand (&&) used in a MW script. Is this valid syntax?
4. Shouldn't there be a ( MenuMode == 0 ) clause if something is being activated?
5. Aren't the new naming conventions TR_m2_q_7_[Name]? Yours don't have one of the underscores.

The ampersand is not valid syntax. That's most code junkies' biggest grievance with TESscript. For multiple conditions, nested "if" statements must be used.

Code: Select all
begin TR_m2_q7a_Chimer

short Button
short Button2
short HasHeart
short state
if ( DoOnce == 0 )
TR_m2_q7a_ChimerSpirit->Disable
set DoOnce to 1
endif
if ( OnActivate == 1 )
set MessageOn to 1
TR_m2_q7a_ChimerShrine->Activate player ;WHAT IS THIS FOR???
endif
if ( player->GetItemCount "ingred_daedras_heart_01" > 0 ) ;player has item
if ( HasHeart == 0 )
set HasHeart to 1
endif
else
if ( HasHeart == 1 )
set HasHeart to 0
endif

if ( DoOnce1 == 0 )
set DoOnce1 to 1
MessageBox "Place the daedra heart on the shrine?" "Yes" "No"
set MessageOn to 0
set Button to GetButtonPressed
if ( Button == 0 )
player->removeitem "ingred_daedras_heart_01" 1
set DoOnce2 to 1
elseif ( button == 1 )

if ( DoOnce2 == 1 )
MessageBox, "Summon The Chimer Sorcerer's Spirit?" "Yes" "No"
set DoOnce2 to 0
set doOnce1 to 0
set Button2 to GetButtonPressed
if ( Button2 == 0 )

Have these been created yet?theviking wrote:TO BE CREATED:

I remember that interior being made... I'll try and find a link.

The map is a definite no.
