TylerJY's Showcase

Post by TylerJY »

Hey, I'm new to these forums and this is my first post.
I really want to help out with this project but I can't think of anything else I could do.
I have little experience with modding and other things but only amateur to say the least.

So, it got me thinking.....Could I do some voice acting if you decide to add children to the game? Im 14 years old I have a brother who is 10 and a sister who is 9. If this isn't possible is there any other small jobs such as screenshotting, taking videos, etc etc?? Like I said before the only modding I have ever done is taken an interior cell cleared it out and redecorated it and added a dog etc... So i do know the basics...

I would encourage you to learn more interior modding skills. (assuming you are playing Oblivion) You should build a single room (interior cell) and make it as good as you can. Make it well lit, and evenly decorated with appropriate furniture, without using too much clutter. When you are finished or in need of some critisism then create your own showcase thread and upload the construction set file. Be patient and in a few days a reviewer will most likely find time to go over it and give you pointers. Hope this helps!

Oblivion

Post by TylerJY »

So Interior modders are also needed for oblivion? I thought you guys were just doing morrowind and hammerfell.... Im not real good with lore, but does hammerfell look like oblivion because we do not have existing data? so I should just make an interior anywhere in Oblivion? A shop or something? To tell you the truth I don't have Morrowind but I am probably going to get it soon... anyways I will build an interior. Interiors are fun.

Hammerfell is being made as a mod for Oblivion.

You don't have to link your interior anywhere, just make a cell and upload it for us to look at. As an interior modder you will not be linking your cells to the exteriors anyways.

We don't have any OB ints to do right now, only MW at the moment, but we likely will soon(ish).
Oh and, welcome to TR. ;)

Hey, If I made a shop would you guys want me to showcase my "skills" if you can call them that lol with NPCs and my Interior cell... Also if i made a shop would you want me to make a private quarters basement and the actual shop or just one cell??

I think a shop would be good enough. For OB ints you have to add the NPCs yourself, so do add NPCs to it.
And a living quarters would be a good idea as well, to further show us what you can do. :) I believe you can make these two separate cells if you want (Or you have to :P I'm not sure about OB ints), and connect them together.

try copying the .esp files into a clean .zip folder. Then when you go to upload the files select "all Files" from the filter and you should see your zip folder. Most peeps make the mistake of not removing the filters from their searches when opening files (makes you think that your files don't exist!).

Tyler's Showcase-Interior Designer for OB

Post by TylerJY »

This is my shop interior... the private quarters and basement are not complete but the main shop cell is... also the NPC has AI Packages for selling things and sleeping... I will finish the private quarters and basement if someone wants to see those.

P.S: I'm only 14 years old so try to go easy on me :) I will however take constructive criticism without shedding too many tears :P

This is just the interior cell so I would suggest just opening it in the CS also ignore the private quarters and basement they are not complete.

Please keep your posts in your existing showcase thread. Each user is allowed only one thread in the showcase forum and extras are always merged, moved, or deleted. This is the second extraneous thread you've opened in this forum. Please read the forum's rules and guidelines before posting.

That being said, it might be a good idea to finish the interior before posting it if you'd like it to be reviewed for promotion. Unfinished sections tend to detract from the areas that are complete. On the other hand, feel free to post anything you'd like reviewed for critique and direction. This forum is a great place to get advice.

Something seems to be wrong with this file, for me anyway. Whenever I start up the CS a message some up saying that you're .esp is not a valid TES file. In the CS Details window, there is no data. Did you maybe accidently delete the TES3 file header? Or perhaps you should just upload the esp without compressing it, see if that works.

This is an Oblivion file. Morrowind's CS won't recognize it.

Oops... my bad.

I'll check this in a second.

[5 minutes later]

There appears to be only a few floating objects and doors, no building shell. Is there something else wrong I might be doing here? This is the first Oblivion showcase I've reviewed (sort of), and I'm pretty sure there should be more stuff in the cells. There were a bunch of error messages concerning TylerJY's cells on duplicate form IDs.

Any help here?

Hmm... I really don't know :/ I have a shell and everything. That sucks though. I hope it's not like that for everyone.
And I don't see how it could have duplicate form IDs because I named everything TJYThis and TJYThat

Checked it. Same issue. Shell is missing. And even then, eight objects for a shop is far too low.

I also checked the .esp's details and it showed nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps you accidentally deleted it or attempted to clean it and that just messed it up.

It has a shell now, but the room is still very empty. More clutter needs to be added, that's about all I can say, since I don't mod much with the Oblivion CS.

Also, there's no need to compress a file that's only a few kilobytes in size.

Hehe... I will fill it up some more, and the reason I compressed it was because it wouldn't show the damn .esp so I compressed it and uploaded the Zip :P
EDIT: Here ya go! I added some beer/wine on the ground and some crumpled paper on the ground.. I also added a rat and rat poison in the room... I thought it would be cool to make it look like it belongs in the waterfront district

You deleted everything else in the room from your last plugin. Now it's even more empty 8o ! But aside from that:

-the cairn bolete can't just stand there. It needs to be either in some sort of container/pot/growing tray thingy in the MG, or else it needs to get gone

-you need to add lights. Also, you should tweak the light settings in the cell info to match the lighting of similar interiors.

Other than that, all I can say is just keep on filling up the cell, without deleting everything. Build up your skills, and when you have made a decent interior, you'll probably end up moving up to a harder level interior that will more likely get you promoted. Good luck to you.

Hehe I didn't delete everything so something must have happened damnit... Okay I will try it out :P

EDIT: Okay this is really F*ing irritating... When I open my .esp in data files in the CS and I add more things to the cell it is all in one cell but when I save and reload my .esp there is 2 cells now one is TJYFiraniusDealExtremeIntDUPLICATE000 and one is just TJYFiraniusDealExtremeInt yet before I saved I put everything in TJYFiraniusDealExtremeInt and now when i reload everything I added before I saved went in the Duplicate and everything I already had was in the original! Grr any help??
