Okay, hopefully this is everything... But again, if it isn't just tell me and I'll try to fix it.
I'm sure there still are grammar mistakes, and spelling errors. I did fix some but I mostly worked on fixing the gameplay.
Faalen wrote:I asked Dralor to wait outside the cave when I went in to kill the bandits. Since the journal update script is on him, nothing happens when all of the bandits are dead. When I went back outside, I got the "We have killed the thieves" journal
I do not know how to "fix" this, but I'm not really sure if that would have been totally needed, so I left that part alone.

Fixing that would require a rebuild of how the quest functions. It would be somewhat of a waste of time to fix it in this file. What I meant to convey is that players often come up with, shall we say, alternative solutions to the planned path and it's important to be ready for that in future quests, not necessarily this one. Sorry I wasn't more clear on that.

Oh, and I'm on this one. :-)

I just thought I'd emphasise how important this is:
Faalen wrote:Part of being a quester is thinking of all the cockamamie and backwards ways someone might go about finishing your quest and accounting for them.
Learning all the technical diddling is important, but to make effective bug-free quests you need to be able to consider every possible action the player might take at any point. Even if it seems completely stupid, you need to work in contigencies. This can get very convoluted in long quests (and even more so in full quest lines), so it's worth thinking through every possibility on a small quest like this.

I know, I know, another double post. It's the last one, I swear. (EDIT: It was a double until MowSkwoz pulled a combo breaker.)

You hit the nail on the head. There are a couple of things that could be brushed up, but it would be a waste to make you do so in a showcase file when you so obviously know what you're doing. I strongly suggest that you stay simple on your first couple of claims until you get more confident with scripting. The best way to learn is to do. As always, feel free to pester me, MowSkwoz, or BC with any questing-specific issues and concerns you may have, and feel free to bother theviking until he posts more claims. :-P

Modder recommended for promotion in quests.

Congratulations, Stryker.

EDIT2 Re: What MowSkwoz said
He's absolutely right. However, given how well this quest works, I stand by my statement that it would waste time to re-implement this quest from the beginning. If you're going to spend the time to do a dozen rebuilds, better to be working on a file that will be used.

Hah, that would have been like the last three times (or something like that) you double posted. :P

Thanks Faalen, MowSkwoz and BC for the help with this showcase.
But you're right, Faalen, I think I'll wait for the Misc quests to get into unclaimed before I ever do anything really complex.

I get what you mean, MowSkwoz. I'll keep an eye out on that in the future, and hopefully do a better job with that.

Congratulations and welcome to the team :). The only quests available at the moment are q1-76-Tel and the bits of q1-56-Mis that Lud has asked someone to do, but neither of these would be ideal first quests. Probably best to wait for Viking.

If you're feeling creative, design a wilderness misc. quest for Map 2, and Viking will probably make a claim for you.

If you're not, there are a few wilderness quests lurking in design that are not yet claims, but could be.

Thanks for the promotion again, Lady N. :)
Of course I'll continue to playtest, I'll keep testing Stirk and all the other quests as much as is necessary. As long as I know what to test, at least. :P

Modelz time!

Spent the past couple of days learning blender, and I made this model based on one of the claims. I ain't tellin' which one yet, though, because if you can tell what it is right away then my mission is complete. :P

Since I don't have anything to throw in to show size (or to even properly size it up), this model is currently supposed to stand up to a normal persons waist. Might help with figuring out what it is, too. :P
Its still far from finished, but I thought i'd post it up anyways and see how its coming along and maybe get some suggests/criticism/whatever along the way. :)

Is it considered being a poor sport if you have already told me :P?

Anyway, for the amount of time you have been modeling, it is absolutely amazing that you probably exceed me in modeling ability.

Anyway, keep it up! All that is needed is some fancy textures to make it look all pretty :P.

Tell me where to get those 'fancy textures' and I'll get right on it. ;)

You can go to Here and find some textures that may prove useful. Or you could ask a modeler with a nice digital camera to assist you :P. (I don't have a digital camera on my person so...)

Or I can 'borrow' my sisters digital camera when she isn't around, if you know what I mean. :P 'Tis an awesome one.

Anyways, Thanks for the link bamman. :)

congrats on your promotion: questers are very necessary!

how good are you at making texturs? Im working on 8-60 right now (I see you used one of the market concepts!) and if you end up making some preemo textures you should send them my way so I can implement them (or part of them :) )!

@ your model: for learning blender that quick you did a great job of making the concept: but If I was to critique it as a future submission I would be more critical. I have been using 3d design software for years now so If you have any questions or are looking for some tricks send me a pm.

Especialy if you are dealing with bamboo or other grown materials: you'll have to visualize where the surfaces will randomize. My version is a little extreme for bamboo... but many times you will find concepts to be new and flawless renditions when the desired mesh needs to be old and defunct.

If you end up playing around with blender some more with similar architecture (which I encourage you too!) try throwning more world-realism into the mesh.

all in all good job on your first mesh!
