Are there any concepts already in the thread that fit your criteria?Myzel wrote:This thread still isn't really going anywhere. Instead of just spouting more concepts, I think we should make a decision on common themes elements and shapes.
Lady N mentioned ornate brass borders, which I think is a very good idea for a common element.
As for general shape, should we go for robust shapes or more elegant ones? Robust has my vote, but that would mean wood will inevitable be the more prominent material which Gez wanted to avoid (as said in his opening post).
Looking at the interiors I think robust and round shapes are definitely the most fitting though.

im prettymuch convinced that we should go with a style based on the chinise furniture i posted earlier (chair and table). its elegant enough but not too fancy.
spent all day today doing an extensive virus scan so i had lots of time to just draw while things were loading (my computer is hella-slow for some reason). i did some really quick sketches, i may upload them tomorrow.
some more inspiration pics:

It dosent realy fit the original stipulations that wood should be used sparingly. Not that anyone asked me
Unless your point was just to show a shape and style, not materials.

Gez explained that the point was that it shouldn't be too close to the vanilla sets. Those things don't look anything like the cyrodilic stuff.
Besides, who would create furniture out of mostly leather and brass anyway? I guess this set is 'doomed' to be mostly wood.

if you check my first pic (a couple of posts back) the table has a woven reed surface. i imagined the frames being made of thin wood (since the MC can afford it) and between those frames would be stretched wood or woven reeds (a more expensive variety than is used in the LC set). brass would be used for hinges, attaching the wood, and decoration mainly.
dont be too eager Myz, ill surely disappoint you i have been doing drawings for TR again, though they have mostly been thumbnails of upcoming architecture.

Nice design. I'm not sure how right it is for a bed though. When I look at it, the first thing I think is couch. Looks a lot like the couches Romans and Greeks used at their symposia.
It probably depends on how it's implemented. How big is it? How will it look with bedsheets?
I think it's a good start. Do keep them designs coming!

After reading Myzel's input and taking a second look at my bed, I would have to agree that it is a couch. So I redesigned the bed. The materials are the same, just a different shape. Although it is a 2-person bed, it could easily be chopped into a 1-person bed.

Looks nice, but in my opinion that bed-head makes it look upper class, re-do the bottom foot-board to match and i think you would have a viable UC double bed concept...

Nice work mate! The only thing i think it couls need is specific styling to fit with the culture of Hammerfell. The only thing i can think to suggest is adding yoko 'god heads' to the design (i would try doing a 'post topper' design for the god heads. The reference would be that the posts on each corner on a UC bed would probably have decorated round(ish) item on the top, and this seems a easy way to include god heads -to me-). Ultimately i have next to no say in this matter other than giving opinions...
Of course, if you really want to impress people, and have some skill with creating meshes (and perhaps textures too), you should try to create an 'in game' image of this bed and submit it in the showcase section.
That or perhaps, using your bed as a base, fill out the set by creating other pieces and posting them up...
PS: Double posting is usually frowned upon, If you already have the last post in a thread, edit it instead of making a new post every time.

Well i can do meshes and textures, but so far have been unable to find a mesh editor, (3D studio max is very frustrating.) if anyone has any suggestions there it would be nice, also could you give me a ref picture of "yoko god head" it would be awesome, and a set of this style is on the way.

Best reference i can think for yoko specific art/statues, etc would be here: http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/?p=conceptart§ion=15274
As for exporting meshes & textures, there are tutorials for that stuff accessed via the main page (hover over the "Main" tag at the top of the screen, there should be a list with various pages including concept art and tutorials). One program that would (probably) be criticle for this sort of work is NIFscope (i belive there is a link on the main page for it. that or 'google' it).
Others around here could help you more (Gez, our head of concept art especialy), I'm not much more than an interior decorator

the best 3d editors for making nifs are 3ds max and blender
3ds max is said to have the easiest and nicest interface of the two, but from what i've heard once you get used to blenders UI (which can take some getting used to) it is really easy to use
Also a lot of people use Zbrush to make meshes and apply textures (which it is superb for), then they export to a format they can open in blender or 3ds max, use either of these programs to skin and animate the files if necessary (you wont have to do any animation or skinning as you are making statics) and then export the file using the niftools exporter for blender or max
there are a lot of tutorials for the three 3d mesh editing software i have mentioned all over the internet, so if you need any help learning these best thing to do is search for tutorials on google
edit: just thought i'd warn you before hand, zbrush is expensive, not as expensive as 3ds max i don't think, but still expensive

They're a fine idea. The shape could be a bit more Yokuish (more curves, less angles) but there's potential.David House wrote:Edit: doodled this up ask for any detail shots of these and ill draw em, and is the "gods head" gnob thingys good or should i change somthing
For your tables, I like the round one the most. Especially if you make it so that its legs are snakes that hold the tray in their mouth (it vaguely looks like that already). Make the bottom of the legs coiled like a snake getting upright, and that's a golden design.
Nice, I like it. It'd make a fine set I think, original and versatile.Obagovo wrote:Final piece for the bar counter:
