Hello everybody.

Post by ZDawg »

I'm new here. My name is Zach, and I'm here to see what there are for jobs in the midst of writing. Writing is my greatest passion, but I also love video games. I think it would be amazing if I could combine them, and this project seems like the perfect way to do just that!

I don't know what use I can be of to you all. I have very minor knowledge in terms of the Construction Set, and although it would not be difficult for me to pick it up, I do have a lot of schooling to attend to, and in general it can become quite frustrating for me.

Anyways, I love to write fiction. I can write books for the game if needed, but I would also really love to write quest backstories, dialogues, etc. I must warn you that my writing is NOT fantasy, hunky-dory, let's all be happy and hold hands stuff. Rather, I write quite darkly at times, and often bordering on archaic and fleeting. I love a great plot-twist, and I love great literature, and I always try to incorporate my knowledge of these and other things into my writing. Overall I am concerned with conveying a powerful experience and arousing the senses in my writing, rather than just depicting events.

I would enjoy to work on either Oblivion or Morrowind, though the current work seems to pivot around Oblivion (which I personally find amazing. I can't believe you guys are recreating Vvardenfell, Mournhold, Solstheim and even more!)

Anyways, any responses will be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys! :D

First of all: Welcome to TR's forums. :)

Now that that's over with:

Well, you shouldn't believe it. You probably misunderstood something there. TR is not recreating Morrowind in the Oblivion game. We're finishing the Morrowind province in TES III, and we're creating the Hammerfell province in TES IV. The isle of Stirk has recently been finished for TES IV.

I hope you'll get to do some writing here, but I've heard someone say it's hard to get 'promoted' to TR modder on writing alone. It seems people are expected to do something beside writing, but I'm not sure so for now just forget what I said.

Yes, I have read up on the expectations of writers here, and I am well aware of how hard it is to be accepted. Just like anything to do with writing in life. If you want to be accepted, you have to make a name for yourself, or be damn good.

Anyways, thanks for the warm welcome, and thanks for straightening my facts out. Hammerfall is just as good as far as I'm concerned! :P

Are there perchance any plans to develop Vvardenfell, etc. for Oblivion?

Thanks again for the welcome! :)

No. There is and will be absolutely no plan for doing any Morrowind-related work for TES4. There are already other teams working on Morrowind projects for Oblivion, and we can't develop two provinces at a time.

I recommend you to look at Phitt's project instead: Sheogorad. There's a team that's going to expand it to cover the rest of Vvardenfell, region by region. Ashlands North for now.

It is, in my opinion, the most promising Morrowind-for-Oblivion project out there.

Hi everyone.

There's another very interesting project for Morrowind in Oblivion, which is Morrowind 3E433

This project is based on this program: Morroblivion.

This program actually convert Morrowind.esm for Oblivion; this version is unable to convert quests, so you can just walk through the landscape and eventually fight with some creatures.

Morrowind 3E433 is a french project which intends to add Vvardenfell to Oblivion and, moreover, to rethink Vvardenfell like it should be at the time of Oblivion.
So you should be able to shield Vvardenfell's cities against Merhunes Dagon's daedras, do some quests for the corrupted Fighter Guild, defend Ald'Rhun against Nords, etc.
Nevertheless, it is a french project, so you may not be able to try this mod. :s

P.S.: Sorry for my english, I'm french. - -

Two things:

Number one, the program Morroblivion is illegal. It violates Bethesda's copyright on their intellectual property and they have claimed this publicly. Its distribution and use are not permitted in the mainstream modding community. (EDIT: It is possible Bethesda has eased their stance opposing Morroblivion, but the last word I heard from them was that it violates their copyrights)

Number two, advertising for other mod projects is against forum policy. Please read the forum rules before posting.

Practical implementation is now underway.

You're wrong, it is not properly illegal; the one thing that is illegal is to convert a Morrowind file for Oblivion and to provide it to anybody on the internet. It is legal to convert Morrowind from the moment you own Morrowind. For these reasons, Morrowind 3E433 needs to be used with Morroblivion so as to avoid this legal problem.

Alright, I'll stop talking about it. :s

It's not against copyright law, it's against the EULA. Anyway, this thread is now hopeless and I'm closing it.
