IRC Issues

I'm having trouble connecting to Chatspike via mIRC. It just says that my connection is refused. Can anyone help me out?

It's probably a firewall. Try adding whatever IRC client you are using to the exceptions list. Add the ports too(usually 6667-6669) if adding the client doesn't work. If both of those fail, try turning off your firewall temporarily to see if that fixes the problem.

Hmm I turned off Windows Firewall but I still can't get in. There aren't any other firewalls installed that I know of besides the Firefox one. Does that have any effect on external programs?

okay I had this issue, If I remember correctly, what you need to try is this:

type in:

/Server irc.chatspike.net

Im pretty sure that worked for me.

I think there the issue with the ports was due to something else, because I had the same problem.

Nah, still refusing it. It might actually be a university firewall that prevents torrenting; in which case there's nothing that can be done about it until I move out of the dorms.

Hmm, doesn't look like Mibbit has ChatSpike on it unless I'm missing something.
