Technically if you count the Colovian Highlands the Dragonteeth Mountains still exist and they stretch from High Rock to Valenwood :pSload wrote:Quick everyone, does a mountain range stretch from High Rock to Valenwood? Think back to Oblivion, was there a mountain range running across the province?Itt was said that the southern tip of the Dragon's Teeth, which stretches from the ice covered mounts of High Rock to the wooded forests of Valenwood, could be seen on the horizon from the top parapet of the Tower.
The answer to both of these questions is no. The Dragon's Teeth have been excised from lore. Therefore, the last thing it should be is the Dragon's Teeth. I'm for the Shield myself, but the Shield Wall is nice. I do not like naming it after the Dwemer clan who lived at the very edge of it.
While I was testing some meshes in goldmoor lately, the Hammerfell ingame map wasn't working for me. Is it supposed to be so on this stage? I honestly know nothing about the oblivion ingame maps yet...
PoHa: how can we best this trio of trouble? who will save us from this menace of sub-par models? what will we do?
PoHa: I know! we'll shoot an Aro at them
Aro: you have only one Aro missile!
PoHa: yes, but its heat seeking and quite possibly indestructible

Some anonymous post put this up earlier (near top of second page) and it caght my eye (though aparently no one elses as it was completely ignored):
Just a bit of possibly useless stuff but I looked up the Swahilli for a wall, and it was 'Ukuta'. Its a wall of mountains...sounds pretty Yoku...could work.
Considering these moutains form the north/eastern 'edge' of the Helkori, using a similarly themed name for the mountains would be apropriate. So, using this other guys suggestion as a base:
> The Ukuta Range (my vote goes to this one, 'range' being acurate without the indimidations factor of calling them mountains).
> The Ukuta Mountains
> The Rocks of Ukuta
Others could come up with more variations I'm sure...

True, but is that actualy a reason NOT to use an "African" style name?
The biggest plus for it is that it 'goes' with Helkori in a language sense. Think about it, said culture provides the name for one region, why not another region right next to it?
Yes, this suggestion is made on the assumption that the name 'Helkori Plains' will stick. I, for one, like it (sounds very savana-y to me).
If it sound to 'rel world' then that doesn't mean the idea in itself is bad. Alot of people having been suggesting that the range is not very important to the modern populace of Hammerfell, but even a minor range would be a thing of awe to tribal cultures of ages past (something that is still a factor in the Helkori from all I've read on the forums). In which case, if the specific suggestion made doesn't work, then there are alot of talent people around here that could come up with some more suitable tribal style name.
But yeah, im sticking to the tribal thing
