Player personality, style, you?
ill make my first thread the day i get dumped for some geek
dont get me wrong, im a geek too, iwanthimtodienow
ANYWAY
whats your playing style/personalty?
personally, ive never been diagnosed with anything, cus i was never checked for anything, cus everyone who knew me seemed to be just fine with me being a useless idiot, lately i suspect i might be aspie
which reflects in my gaming, which, in the case of both fallout (drool) and morrowind (drool) are extremely routined and repetitive, with little room for variation. i prefer certain modes to play through the game
i go for thief
and as a thief i steal as much as i can. i have of course learned what objects to safely steal and re-sell and which not to. i rarely ever carry a blade, for use, as my weapon is almost exclusively bow and arrows, where i prefer the simple long bow, cus its purdy
i never pickpocket outside of a mission, cus its a hastle, so ive probably missed out some little gems there.
(in fallout i pickpocket everything that breathes)
quest-wise, i tend to be idiotically systematic, while still of course immersing myself in the athmosphere.
ill usually finish the fighters, mages and thieves guilds quests first, then the other ones, while i every now and then update the main quest. after finishing the main quest, i do the shrine quests, then the expansion packs, and last of all, the wilderness quests.
when im done questing, ill usually re-dress my character into a more "neutral" looking "common pants" and stuff, to make him inconspicous
like a "secret legend" the "anonymous hero nobody recognizes" i like that
oh and since this is TR, my current latest save has me in firewatch, just arrived, wearing local common clothes, looking for these funky funky gems that are hidden around this part of the world B)
what about you?
k, ill go cry now.

i like dealing mass amounts of damage, killing things quickly and without much strategy. in TES assassin is my perfect class strait out of the box, especially in morrowind. i steal stuff, sneak up on people to land a sneak attack, and then pumel them with some large enchanted sword (ice blade of the monarch was a fav). alchemy is very important, as i tend to drop health very quickly. in MMOs i go for the nuker classes, again to maximize damage. not too good at things that take a specific combo of skills to play well, i like to just pwn strait up.

i kinda routinely ignore most magic, restoration comes in handy of course. i definitely recognize sneaking aroundLady Nerevar wrote:i like dealing mass amounts of damage, killing things quickly and without much strategy. in TES assassin is my perfect class strait out of the box, especially in morrowind. i steal stuff, sneak up on people to land a sneak attack, and then pumel them with some large enchanted sword (ice blade of the monarch was a fav). alchemy is very important, as i tend to drop health very quickly. in MMOs i go for the nuker classes, again to maximize damage. not too good at things that take a specific combo of skills to play well, i like to just pwn strait up.

I do whatever I want to. I am bored with Morrowind. That's why I started TR. My character is the most deadly, filthy rich, honorable (well, umm, about that...), thief in the world. I have a pile of daedric, glass, and ebony treasure that's worth over 800k and taller than my character. I'm also the archmagister of Vvardenfell Telvanni, since they have the coolest stronghold, so I'm a mage-lord, too. I started fighter's guild, but it conflicts with thieves guild, so can't do that. I loot daedric ruins FOR FUN. I use short blades as my main weapon, having 100 short blade, I have 100 light armor, sneak, security, and acrobatics, too.
Recently I have become quite bored after doing all the TR telvanni quests up until map 2, becoming arch-mage of the mage's guild (vvardenfell), master thief (vvardenfell), I'm collecting the threads of the webspinner for Morag tong, and I've done most of the TR mage's guild quests.
So ya, I'm invincible. Dremora lords are as easy as rats. So are Golden Saints. But kagrenac's library dagoth? For some reason he kills me every time.
I take manors for my own, rob nobles and great houses blind, and get a lot of money
Oh, and recently I've become a heavy armor guys with full ebony and a daedric claymore.

what do you mean?Ban Me Please wrote:Me? I'm a roleplayer, I'm only hack and slash when it suits the character.
i kill nobody in the game that im not told to kill, or who isnt attacking me of course.
i like the concept of population :/
in fact, i'd prefer if vaardenfell had like 20 000 npc's or something, that'd be neat.

well maybe not 20 000 but at least more than what 20 people per town, khuul for example is nice and all, but has VERY few inhabitants, even for a small fishing townMyzel wrote:20,000 npc's? With the in game size of Vvardenfell that would mean the entire island would have to be covered with houses and appartments to house all those people. That, or every city street would have to be as crowded as a large rock concert.
No thanks.

It really depends on what "role" I'm playing.
My most common roles are a power-hungry and almighty Dunmer Telvannis, with which I would also join and finish the Morag Tong.
Another character is the super all-round Wood Elf, whom I give high skills in everything and practivcally finish everey single guild-line with (save for left over Great Houses). I also finish the MQ with this one.
Next is my nightblade/assassin character, usually a Dunmer or Argonian. I also have a Nordic Thief.
I never play with Imperials, Redguards, Beast-Races and High Elves.
The one character I'd truly love to roleplay would be an Elven Witchhunter. But Morrowind has absolutely no way for me to fulfill this ambition questwise.
While playin I focus on Quests first, combat second. I care more about being the head of a guild, then about having a cool weapon.

i am never patient enough to go for any other house than hlaalu, and every time i decide to go for another house, i get to balmora, and run out of patience
i used to play dumner mostly, but lately im only imperial, its "easyer to identify" with them. my younger sister played a little, and played as kajit. that was weird to watch
haha that was actually kinda confusing untill i decided to finish reading the rest :SNemon wrote:I usually end up poor, laying out my mere belongings on the street waiting for someone to come up to me and buy stuff.
Never happens, although the occasional NPC greets me with some polite phrase.
sometimes it IS cool to just stand around and do nothing. whats more realistic than that, anyway? i loved that about oblivion, that one could sit down, and do nothing

I play the Perfectionist class (preferably as a native race.) I don't like to take any damage or use any inventory. Inevitably, I end up with a pile of unused items, so trips to merchants are quite frequent. I carefully haggle to squeeze the last 1% out of every salesperson. If my skill goes up during haggling, I check to see if I can get a better bargain.
It's a very dull way to play. I don't recommend it, but I can't stop myself.

i can recognize that mindset, i play a lot like that with fallout, when i first tried morrowind, i tried to play the exact same way, but being a noob it didnt give me the same satisfaction or result, but i recognize the fanatic systematics, almost as if your collecting your own method aroundfstony wrote:I play the Perfectionist class (preferably as a native race.) I know this thread has been unused for a while, but I thought it was interesting so I decided to comment.
I'm actually similar to you, zegh, in that I'm pretty consistent in the character I go for. I also prefer a stealth-based character, though generally one a bit more combat oriented. And as I grew more familiar with Morrowind, I began to integrate more magicks into my build, just to spice things up a bit. I pathologically avoid the Imperial Cult and the Imperial Legion, b/c I'm pretty anti-establishment in general, and would feel uncomfortable contradicting this sentiment with my gaming persona. I'm only slightly more comfortable joining the Imperial Guilds - I tend to go for either Hlaalu or Telvanni and the Morag Tong first. I sometimes think I should try out more of the Imperial quests, since I'm missing out on a huge portion of quests, but anytime I attempt it it doesn't last. But I like the idea of shaping a more consistent TES persona over time.

Im wierd...
Im a perfectionaist in terms of imersion and focus. I milk the mini-games (disposition, lockpicking, etc) for all they are worth.
But this is countered by the fact that i am a rather impatient person. This generaly means i dont have the patients for the subtlety of a magic of stealth type character. If my char cant charge in a wolop his opponant with a nice weapon killing said opponent in short order then i will quickly loose interest.
So yeah, the most subtle i get is wraping the brick in a sock before i hit you with it
Did i mention Im wierd?

that's interesting to hear, b/c i tend to lose interest in combat (particularly morrowind's combat, although my very recent entry into the world of mods may change all that) if i'm unable to vary my attacking strategy. so, say, if i have a stealth-based character with a decent marksmen and shortblade skill who also has a fair arsenal of offensively-minded enchantmented items, there's at least three options right there, plus the option to sneak or not, etc. so for me, it's a question of keeping my short attention span at bay.

Me = Usually Nord, because they're awesome and I have a northern-european background (or should I say Anglo-Celtic, I think thats right?) eitherway english, scottish, dutch, viking, you get the idea...
Its usually only Nords, Dunmer or Imperials I play as. sometimes I choose other for the hell of it.
I never really choose a class, I generally make my own. I like a mix of everything and I generally make sure I have a skill for every attribute
Im also a insane collector, for example I have a whole draw in the mages guild of my captured Dagoth Souls, and rare ingredients, and on the bed lies enchanted weapons and other daedric stuff. Since I cant carry it all.
I like to always have Marksman, Alchemy and Enchant in my skills as well. although I never seem to train them a great deal, I usually am a blunt weapon or longsword maniac. I'd probably be an axe maniac too but I gave that idea up, it was too clichéd lol.
Im not a typical player, I do alot of other things, infact in my proper save game Ive only just got upto to getting Sunder lol.
althought I have played through all the Mainquest lines before.

I've never really role-played in Morrowind. I just tried to get all my skills to 100 and get as much artifacts and good armour/weapons as possible, and complete as many quests as possible.
In Oblivion I tend to role play a bit more, for it seems it works better there in my opinion. Usually I play a stealth/mage character.

I'm the "goody-goody" character: always follow the law, never steal or kill unless i don't need to or by accident. I'm an artifact collector and, as Breton Spellsword which is my one and only race-class combo, i like to roleplay while playing my character, so sometimes i miss some extra choices (like sending to hell I-know-who...). In MW i reached guild-leading for Mages and Fighter's Guild (killing Trebonius and Sjoring because i didn't like the idea of killing Telvanni and Thieves) and (in different games) Tribunal Temple, House Hlaalu (dealing with dren as Hortator), House Telvanni. In oblivion I'm Champion of Cyrrodiil, Arch-Mage and Holy Crusader, but i'm still playing Shiverin Isles... I've been contacted by the Dark Brotherhood only once because i shoot a fireball to a prisoner in Camoran's Paradise mistaking him for a Dremora...

I'm a roleplayer in that i justify my character's actions, and only join guilds i feel my character would have a reason to join, I would never finish all possible guild quests with one character. I've even left the census and excise building at the start of Morrowind only to dump the package to Caius in a nearby pond and go off to do my own thing, completely ignoring the main quest.
Beyond that, I almost exclusively play some variation of a magic-using character, those flight and teleportation spells come in very handy, and the magic side of the game seems much more deep and involved compared to the swordplay side. Races I generally play are Altmer, Dunmer, Khajiit and Argonians =D

Free moment at work:
Call me psycho, but I like to play games of ethnic cleansing in Morrowind. I play as a fanatical anti-Imperialist Dunmer who goes from city to city wiping out the foreigners. It's so strange entering a Balmora without foreigners or a desolate Ebonheart. In a sense I get to play out Dagoth Ur's dream of a Dunmer-only Morrowind.
Then, sometimes I play as an Imperial who comes in an subjugates all the cities, killing off Dunmer forces or replacing them with Imperial guards. This usually ends with my executing Vivec.
With TR and Rise of House Telvanni and some mod which let's me grow my own Telvanni structures, I play as leader of the Telvanni in their attempt to take over Vvardenfell. I massacre Ebonheart and drown it in Telvanni structures, then turn on Vivec and disable the entire city. It's fun to totally change the face of the game.
