The TR UESP Wiki thread
I'm hijacking this thread to make a sticky topic about the wiki. --Gez
Last weeks, me and a few uesp admins have been adding tons of content to the Tamriel Rebuilt wiki, here:
Morrowind: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes3Mod:Tamriel_Rebuilt
Oblivion: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes4Mod:Tamriel_Rebuilt
It's getting bigger every day! Everyone can contribute if they want, I really liked to post some background into the NPC's that I created. It's not as difficult as it looks to contribute, so please join us!

I created this file for the wiki, but it could as well be used for promotional purposes elsewhere. If you do, please do not hotlink to the pic on the wiki since it's slow enough already. Use ImageShack or something like that instead.

In other notes, having our stuff put out on a wiki really helps seeing the glaring errors that need to be fixed ASAP, like when you have an "Encypted Note" [sic]. It'll also make it a bit more difficult to change problematic NPC names I guess.

Not this map, no.
But it might be possible to negotiate http://www.uesp.net/maps/mwmap/tr3map.shtml or something like that. Also, http://www.uesp.net/maps/obmap/tr4map.shtml once we release Hammerfell - Stirk is small enough not to need an online interactive map. (Those URL do not actually exist of course, I'm just making a point.)
Hemi: can you remind me where this map of ints is?

I improved the Morrowind part as much as possible, but there's news on the Oblivion front as well: Stirk NPCs have just been nominated for the Oblivion NPC Redesign Project, which means they will all get a fully-detailed write-up.
I encourage everyone who was involved in creating them and fleshing them out to check them out for accuracy in their descriptions.

Getting to the TR parts via UESP, rather than a link from here seems quite difficult. I actually can't find it yet.
Is there any way we could facilitate that, or is this the fate of a 'TES3Mod'?
EDIT: Okay, having said that, I just found it. But the point stands.

Quick question, how do I post images to the wiki? And leave those summary comments about what I've done when I make an edit?

Image links are automatically turned into images. For example:
|left is a parameter that says the image should be put to the left of the following text block.
To get them to work as normal text links, they've got to be prefixed that way:
[[:Image:TR3 Banner Firewatch.png|Click to see the banner of Firewatch]]
Same things with categories:
[[Category:Tes3Mod-Tamriel Rebuilt]] adds the page to the category, but [[:Category:Tes3Mod-Tamriel Rebuilt]] makes a link to the category.
The edit summary is a single text box under the edit box.

Cheers.
And how do I actually upload a picture for use by the wiki? Is there a page somewhere for that, or it a standard Imageshack jobby-type?

"Upload file", from the "toolbox" section of the sidebar.
Before updating new pics, though, check some existing pictures of the same kind to see which category they should be in. You'll see there are several image categories for TR already.

I made some small tweaks. I tried a list of reasons for edits in the summary, but it really was a summary, so I gave up when I hit the limit.
Feel free to tear it apart as you frequently do my other edits.

The Kragenmoor thing I simply prefer to leave it vague until things are decided for real; and the Map thing I explained why. That's two. You've made a lot more edits than two.Bloodthirsty Crustacean wrote:Feel free to tear it apart as you frequently do my other edits.
I see my user page is popular, by the way.

Haha, yes, nabbed!Gez wrote:I see my user page is popular, by the way.
How do you get that sidebar mod you linked a few posts back working, BTW? The instructions seem to presume you've slotted it in the appopriate place first.

Each user can put stuff in their user page's monobook.js subpage. (Well, it doesn't have to be monobook.js, it's just that monobook is the default skin; if you use another you need to adjust accordingly.)
So, for me it's User:Gez/monobook.js and for you it'll be User:BC/monobook.js.
The code is quite self-evident I think, each "remove" line removes an item and each "add" line adds one. As you see, I empty completely the "sections" section first so that stuff can be in the order I want. You don't have to use the exact same changes as I do, and you can change the other sections as well.
Once you've finished tailoring the code so that it'd hopefully look like you want it to look, save the page. Then you'll have to reload so that the new javascript is loaded by your browser and the sidebar gets modified.
Maybe I should document a bit my user page's code as well...

There's one in this very thread. Didn't you read it?
Your post has nothing to do with the wiki.
Neither does mine, but I'm answering a question which I think qualifies as mitigating circumstances.

What do you mean it has nothing to do with wiki... If you go to uesp wiki : morrowind maps, you will see an online map...
Also im not talking about a regular one page map... Im talking about a one like satalight or googleearth exept with tamriel rebulit :P

Yes its still being updated, obvioulsy not completely otherwise to much information would be revealed and things do get changed a fair bit.
Anyway signing up is like any other site, but Only specific forum people are permitted to edit the UESP's TR information.
Also although the topic is valid, please try to avoid Necromancing.

Necromancing is fine if it is a valid question in a valid thread. I'd say this fits both criteria. In the future RelinQ, please refrain from answering questions when you have no idea what you are talking about. I don't know either, so I am not going to respond. If no one responds with an answer, I'd take that as a sign that nothing is being done with it.

Definitely still being updated
I've been updating quite a bit of stuff on the TR3 pages recently. At the end of last year I fleshed out a number of the quest pages - although there are still lots to do - and I've been doing other bits since then.
One difficulty is that TR3 itself is obviously still a work in progress. On things like the ingredient pages, we don't want to say there are 15 samples of a certain ingredient only for the information to need re-writing when the next map appears. The same appears to many other aspects of the mod.
If you want to help flesh out the TR3 pages, please do. The NPC pages are especially in need of work, as most just have the stats and an image.
