The Tamriel rebuilt Trailer

Post by Meshde »

Hello,

It's been a long time since I was here. But I thought I could finish something I never finished.
I am talking about the Tamriel rebuilt trailer.

Back in the summer of 2008 I started making a trailer. And I had a beta trailer.

Watch it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eDP4CrF8aU

But it was not good enough...

So I made a preview of my new trailer (also 2008)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEBJNPXmtSY&feature=channel

People liked it more and it was better. But it wasn't good enough..

That's why I've been thinking lately and I've decided to make my new trailer. And this time I want it to become the official Tamriel Rebuilt Trailer. It will be better than my past ones.

Thanks for Reading. And I would like to hear from you all soon

Bye...

Mehdi

EDIT:

I've uploaded the trailer so far

It's a good start, but I don't know if you could become a trailer maker.
BTW, do you use a texture mod?

trailer #2:
actually, you do use a texture replacer, the imperial architecture doesnt look like that in the vanilla game.

the 2nd trailer is much too short and doesnt show off many locations. a good trailer should show all the magnificent places in the maps to really draw attention, the current footage might as well have been shot in vanilla morrowind.the video doesnt sync to the music, and the music starts and ends abruptly. it would have been much better to use the whole song, or a different, shorter one.furthermore, a graphics enhancer like MGE could be used to make it even more epic.
you also need to get rid of the fraps overlay on the top of the screen.

you can certainly make trailers for us, but there is no position of "trailer maker."

[edit]
new trailer:
-the beginning is awkward and jittery, it should be a smooth pan.
-the text stays up too long, and the awards are too big. and afair we arent rated 10/10 on nexus.
-get rid of the crosshair
-once again, it does not match the music. i would switch the shots at the beats of the gong or something, just go give the visual and audio more cohesion.
-many of the shots are once again generic, up until ald bosara it could all have been vanilla. you had kemel-ze, but that should have been a shot from farther away to show the whole ruin, or maybe one inside showcasing the magnificent halls.
-many of your objects flikered strangely. i dont know whats causing it (duplicated meshes, looks like), but you need to fix it. the golum can be removed completely since it sucks donkey balls.

over all, this doesnt show TR in its best light. you need to have more large overview scenes of the cities and landscapes, as opposed to a minute of the interior of some telvanni house. also watch your camera movement, everything should be smooth, almost artificial. this is a trailer, not a walkthrough.

Oke

I will do what you say. This is your project so please say what kind of music I need to use. I find it very strange that it has other textures I will reinstall the game and see if it is better. Also how long would you like to have the trailer.

Please also give me a list of good places to film.
I hope my laptop can run MGE. Because I m already recording like 9 fps.. Maybe I should get a new pc :P

Give me all this. And you'll get your trailer

ive updated my post with a review of your new trailer, the textures are fine there but the rest of the problems persist. you can use the Dragonfly theme if you want, or you can take a look at our music forum and find something else that might suit your needs (just make sure its not hammerfell specific).

[edit] here is an example of a mod trailer i like. you dont have to follow the exact same formula, but it is an example of what can be done with a mod, fraps, and movie maker.

Oke I will make some work of it and at the end you'll love the trailer though it takes time..

The first thing I'm going to do is get rid of those strange flickering. It's annoying. I'll try to use MGE. Do you know if there are any good fps optimizer's.

I think it's time for a new pc :)

I'll do my best and stay tuned

EDIT:

Bad news I can't use MGE LOD because I don't have ps 2.0
I am now searching the house for pc's

EDIT of the EDIT:

Great I found a new PC I'll install it and we're off to go

Hi,

From all the tips I have got I made a new idea

I want to use dragonfly so I studied the song and came up with this for the trailer

these are events that will happen in the trailer at these times

00:00-00:28: I'm showing Tekst and Pictures. nicely merged together

00:28-00:55 : First session Recordings

00:55-01:00 : The title: Tamriel Rebuilt

01:01- 01:19 2nd Session Recordings

01:20-01:46: The best shots and clips I can find (this is the best stuff)

01:47-02:03: Text

02:04-02:26: I'm showing the darker side of Tamriel Rebuilt (dungeons and stuff, yet unique)

02:27-02:58: I am showing the bride side of tamriel

02:59- End; Wrapping it up.

Read this While you're listening the music and i Think it makes sense.

Hello,

Here it is, finally.

First of all I spent hours in thinking, recording, editing, testing. To finally make it this far. I hope you enjoy.

Before commenting read this:

I used the Dragonfly theme.
The trailer is 03:09 long (requested by Lady Nerevar)
I do not use Texture Replacers
I use MGE 3.6.3 (requested by Lady Nereva)
Recordings match up with music.
No jittery recordings
No crosshair
Many Unique Shots/Recordings
There's no fraps overlay (I disabled it)

I seriousely did my best.

Well what are you waiting for download it :)

You do know that MGE 3.6.3 is an ancient version? 3.8.0b or one of the SVN versions is suggesteable if your PC can handle it.

That was much better. I'd lose the "reviews" though, which seem a little tacky in my opinion and also have a few typos. Also, a the shots where you adjust the angle as you're moving (such as in Kemel-Ze and one shot of Firewatch docks) are a little jarring and could do with smoothing.

Also, your frame rate is a little low which gives a faint stuttering effect. If this is a limitation of your computer, there obviously isn't that much you can do about it, but it might be an issue with the software you're using to capture it.

Keep up the good work :)

The comments you made are good. But my pc is old and can't handle any more. I'm sorry.

I still need 400 euro's for my new pc.

It is quite good in my opinion. I would remove the opinions as well, because a few people know the authors of the comments.
BTW, your file new as a typo, it should (nieuwe) trailer.

first of all, i agree with everything said here. second, here is a step by step:

-the intro is misspelled as "TR-tea" instead of "team," ellipses are always three dots (... not ..), and the logo shown is old and should be removed.
-should be "and over 1500 NPCs" to keep with parallel structure
-from what i can see all these screenshots are old ones from the site, it would be preferable to make new ones (as people have doubtlessly seen these before and may not go on to finish the video)
-cut away most of the rock from the dwemer ruin pan
-the video sections up to "tamriel rebuilt" are quite nice, but im worried that the night might appear too dark on some people's computers.
-i'd take the shadow off "tamriel rebuilt" since the other text doesnt have it.
-the cave sequence is much too dark, i cant make anything out
-as previously mentioned, remove the quotes
-as previously mentioned, the adjustment of the camera is awkward and imo ruins otherwise great shots.
- do a simple "www.tamriel-rebuilt.org" instead of the blurry banner at the end.

all in all, much, much better than the earlier versions. i would cut in more bright scenes both to make it easier to see and to match the happy, triumphant music.

Oke,

Your first point is good. Although in my movie editor it says TR-team, so I think something happened with the 'm' while creating the vid.

and over 1500 npc's is obvious. I forgot

wich dwemer ruin pan do you mean. Could you give me minute:seconds

I thought that only bright shots would not come out nice because of the lack of diversity. So please come up with an alternative.

Also if you don't want the caves and dark stuff. I don't really make a big problem out of it, it's the face of our project so the trailer needs to be perfect and a lot of trailers have dark stuff in them, so please consider that point.

I'll remove the quotes at 01:46 . What should I fill in?

There will be no camera-angle adjustments.

and I'll remove the banner with the site adres

I think she means the sequence where you can see three times a dwemer centurion, probably at 2:00.

i mean the one in the very beginning, where you are coming out from behind a large boulder to see a dwemer ruin exterior.

just because a lot of trailers have darkness does not mean its a good thing to do. if youre watching the video in a brightly lit room or in sunlight, or if your monitor settings are darker, or if you have one of them monitors that goes dimmer in dark, the nightshots and some of the interior shots will be very dark, so the viewer will not be able to see what you are showing.

Actually the change in structure at the end of the lists is correct, so "and with blah blah" to end it off is correct. However, NPCs shouldn't have an apostrophe, and we shouldn't end it with the number of NPCs... we should log gameplay hours or something BIG and unrelated to the list; no one cares how many sprites or cells we have. We'll let the screenshots and video reels testify to what we've done, since they can tell all that without playing it.

It's a thing in communication, you say a list of related stuff all the same way, and then to finish it off and cement your point you say something unrelated in a different form. So like "more than X cells, more than Y NPCs, more than Z dialogue entries, and over # hours of (quested) gameplay".

Also, those figures look quite wrong to me.

Kill the shadow on the text... it just makes the text look blurry at that size.

I mean the numbers, "10000 dialogue entries, 1100 cells" those numbers look incorrect.

Maps 1 + 2 combined have 69 new creatures, 1,539 new NPCs, 1,628 new cells, and a lot more than 12,000 dialogue entries once all the quests are finished.

69 new creatures? :?

Surely you should count 'new creatures' as things that actually have new models and textures, as opposed to 'Daedric Bat', 'Daedric Batfiend' and all the other variants counting as 5 or however many creatures.

EDIT: Counted, and I think we actually have 32 of those (which is suprisingly large). (Not including butterfly and barfish colour variants, and tenuously counting the various rat re-texes as 2 creatures ('mouse' and 'retex-rat') rather than 8 or 1)

This count does include those creatures which are an embarassment to monsters everywhere, but that's a seperate issue. :P

Hello!
After reading the topic, I also made a trailer. Just for fun! Inspired by official Morrowind trailer.

Hey, that's pretty good :) Maybe end the sequence with something a bit more spectacular though.

That IS actually pretty good. I can only think of three major things to make it better: Use our theme song, include a few more shots of some of our cities from afar to give a better sense of grandeur, and change the url at the end to http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/ or just www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/
