Munin's Interior Showcase

Post by Munin »

Hello all! I admire what is being done in this project, and I would like to help. I believe I could help with some of the interior cells that have yet to be designed. I have been modding for about 2 years, but I have never done anything major or released anything, but I believe I have become very proficient in interior designing.

I have attached my showcase to this post. In the plugin file called "Munin's Showcase," you will find a small Imperial style house, in the cell called "Munin's Showcase". Please take the time to review my work, and let me know if any changes need to be made. Hopefully I can start working on the project soon!

Hey there Munin, welcome to TR. I'll have a go at giving you some pointers for this showcase.

-your various pieces of silverware are often facing in the same direction as each other. If you look at the textures, it varies around the bowls and cups etc. Try rotating them to make the setup look more natural.

-one or two of the silverware plates were floating a bit

-The door had a gap between itself and the doorjam. I don't know much about the imperial tilesets, but perhaps

-I'm not sure dunmer rugs can be used in an imperial/com interior

-The interior is perhaps a bit too small and rectangular.

Overall, this was good for a first submission. I think you should attempt another interior in a dunmer style (Hlaalu and Redoran are good, and will be used a lot in coming int claims), and then you should be well on your way to promotion!

It's a nice interior, and the only things i'd add to Cathartis's comments are the fact that we generally F sacks and pillows a few times, so that they sing into the surface they're resting on and look more natural. Also the pile of sacks is unnaturally neatly aligned.

It looks like the house of an OCD sufferer, because of the overabundant silverware and the neatness of everything, but it's a perfectly good interior that essentially meets TR standards.

Allright then, I shall attempt a Hlaalu interior, and try to make it look more natural and less perfect.

Thank you for the pointers, but I believe that the door and doorjam have a gap, even though they appear to be designed for each other.

Oh, and I looked at the claims forum for interiors. There are more claims coming right? Because only a few unclaimed interiors were left, and I hope more will come.

More will come, yes. We've hit a bit of a dry spell. But detailing brings new interiors usually, and Map 4 and 5 work will probably resume after we're finished detailing Map 3.

They are allowed for showcases which aren't dependant on TR_Data, because there are no vanilla com_rugs. TR_data has com_rugs and TR interior modders have to use those set of rugs.

Okay, here is my next showcase. I made a larger Hlaalu interior with a basement that was used for storage by the owner. I tried to make the clutter look more clutter-like, i.e. more messy and more natural.

Very well done. The house no longer looks like the home of an OCD victim. This might just be personal taste, but I do think the crates & barrels could be a little more close together in some spots. Your file also has the "evil 72 GMSTs" attached to it. The only way to get rid of 'em is by either deleting them in the Morrowind Enchanted Editor or adding Tribunal and Bloodmoon dependencies, which you should have.

(Hope I'm not being rash again) Member recommended for promotion.

EDIT: Forgot to mention - poor furniture sometimes has uneven surfaces, like "furn_de_p_bookshelf" or whatever. Just keep in mind that you may have to do some hardcore angle positioning or else the admins will find you. (that's what happened to me, anyway).

Review time:
You need the expansions to work with us.
Clean your file using TESAME, its full of GMSTs (thats bad)
Bottle rests on a point
items on the poor bookshelf do not account for the warped shelf
perfectly arranged jars and what not on the bookshelf look unnatural anywhere but a shop.

Few errors left. shelves are kind of big though. Fix this and, assuming nothing else pops up, you will be promoted.

Here is my cleaned, clutterified showcase. I tried to make the items on the shelves disorderly, and fixed any that were floating.

My review:
- chest in the cellar is not locked.
- The de_p_furn objects don't have a flat surface. Some items like the bottles, pots, goblets, clothes are resting logical and should be a bit rotated with the x and y values. It's not easy to do, but TR-reviewers don't like to fix that.
- it's a good int. Fix the errors and I'm sure you'll be promoted.

He's not very far from a promotion, but i'm pretty sure that Nomadic and TF won't allow the poor dunmer furniture placement errors.
