Monkey Man's Showcase

Post by Monkey Man »

This is my random idea thread for morrowind. Comment on anything you like, please. Also vote for you favorite idea.
1.A daedric quest where you must go around and assasinate temple leaders to remove the competition
2.A quest trying to figure out how Sotha Sil made his creations
3.A set of twin colored and material armor and weapons like the bipolar blade
4.A quest with something to do with the fork of horripilation and possibly a spoon of horripilation.
5.A set of pearl colored armor with more of a knightly appearance.
6.A set of bone weapons and armor
7.Adding additional spears, because that is the one item type that is lacking in the base game and expansions
8.A great house war quest
9.A set of hand to hand weapon strength boosters(brass knuckles and the likes)
10.A tomb quest that requires killing room after room of skeletons
Thank you for your time, Monkey Man =)

A large scale House War would be epic. I'd do it myself but my priorities are packed as it is, and it may require a level of scripting that I have not reached yet.

8 and 10 would most likely be impossible on the Morrowind Engine and I don't understand 3 or 5 (5 especially).

Why are you asking by the way? Are you going to make a mod out of the idea with the most votes, or are you just asking?

I may attempt to make a mod using the idea with the most votes, I just want to see what other people think of my ideas. I have changed 3 + 5 so they are more apparent and so that what I see in my head is hopefully what you see when you read this. One quick idea would be for #10 you could have constant spells put on hand equip items that increased hand to hand skill, or strength, because everyone wants some spiked gloves :D

Also, even if I don't have a very large support for the Great House Wars I may find a way to create the quest myself

Why is this in the showcase forum then?

Here are my thought on your ideas that I'm guessing are for your showcase. I'd first recommend doing something more simple. A basic "go here do this quest" for example or an interior of a manor or something. I will also state first that I find a lot of your ideas a bit strange... to say the least :)

1. Very basic idea for a one time quest. Doing it on a large scale would be a little repetitive.

2. I'd actually really like to see more questlines exsplore Sotha Sil; who is by far my favorite member of the Tribunal. I can't see how your idea would fit into the game though. :?

3. huh?

4. fork of horripilation? wasn't that that thing in the Sheogorath quest?

5. :?

6. These would be neat if done well

7. Sure, why not.

8. A large scale one? Probabily too complicated to pull off. Certainly too big to do just for a showcase.

9. I guess these could be neat.

10. Massive waves of skelletons + Morrowind's combat system = Repetion city

Anyway Monkey man, if your interested in joining TR I'd go for a more simpler showcase than any of these wild ideas. A simple interior or quest is enougth. Make sure to look at the tutorials to see what you can learn and also read other showcase threads to see how everything progresses here.

P.S If these ideas are for TR itself I can tell you now that they won't be used. (some more so than others :) )

P.P.S don't double post. Espeicelly if all you are going to add is a smiley face.

You do understand what the showcase forum is for, right? You should make a small mod such as a quest, model or interior to demonstrate your skills.
If it's good enough, then someone can recommend you to be promoted onto the team. If not, we'll try and suggest how to fix or improve upon your submission.

indeed, making something large would be kind of a waste, and you really should just make something small. 9 of your ideas are quests that would not be included in TR for one reason for another, and one of them is simply a request for more resources, which we have.

Do what you want, don't do too much though because the showcase is just a practice demonstrationy type thing.

Your mod is dependant on book rotate, please only have your showcase mods be dependant on Morrowind.esm, Tribunal.esm, Bloodmoon.esm, and preferably also the latest version of TR_Data.esm

TESDTK can remove dependancies, I believe.

Your showcase is STILL dependant on book rotate.esm. You will have to remove the dependancy to get your showcase reviewed.

OK, here is my review...

-Too small
-A little too bright on the light settings
-Snap to grid either not used or too low of a setting, room tiles overlap. Try using a STG setting of 32
-Chair floats
-Sack floats
-Not enough detail
-Barrels used have "floating" scripts
-Large crack at bottom of door
-Fishing pole stands straight up, not leaning against anything

If you want to be a modder for TR you'll have to spend more than 10 minutes making your showcase. I suggest you look at some of the other showcases to see what kind of work is expected for promotion. If you look at my showcase files you'll see that they are a LOT more detailed. This is the kind of work that is needed to be promoted. Take your time and build somthing that you are proud of and that will catch the reviewers eye.

And I took the Light Settings STRAIGHT out of the House of Earthly Delights, being that it is in Suran and of the same style.
