Help installing mod

Post by morrowind867 »

I downloaded the mod and 7-zip to open the file, but now what? how do I use the mod install it? or even get to it?

Whenever I double click the file it tells me to install 7-zip. I've already installed 7-zip.

Then you'll want to extract the TR folder to wherever and move the contents to the morrowind data files folder. Then register the bsa and you're set.

I moved things like bookart to the bookart folder. I opened the file and moved the files to the correct spot, but still no map I have the screen up to manually register the bsa, but how do I save it? It says can't create the .ini file, make sure path and file names are correct.

Just drag the folders in the main TR folder (I think bookart and sound) into your data file directory. It'll ask if you want to replace some stuff, click yes to all. Do the same with sound. Next put the TR_bsa file into your date directory. There's a bsa register in the TR folder, just click on that and it'll register your bsa so you don't have to do it manually.

I tried to register the bsa by double clicking it, but when I went into the ini file it wasn't there.

If for some reason it doesnt register it then just add it manually. Underneath where it lists the Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon bsas just type in TR_Data.bsa

For some reason when I checked the box next to the two files to apply them for some reason it didn't work the first time. I must say though, you guys did a pretty good job. I hopefully look forward to helping mod Morrowind, because really the only reason I got this game for the computer was for this and the construction set.

Side question, if I mod on Morrowind will it affect anything if I don't check the box to apply it, or should I just make a seperate test file for that?

Then your problem resolved itself I hope?

To answer your other question: if you make changes in the construction set, save it to an .esp file, and leave it unchecked when you load Morrowind then no, it will not change the vanilla game.

Also, thank you and hopefully we'll see a showcase of yours on here someday :)

Woah! when I opened the construction set I get errors that say things like " Previous string is different for topic "Unrest in Cyrodil City" info (random numbers) - bunch of stuff someone would say in response"

Yes, if you load all the expansions the way you're supposed to you get a lot of those errors. They don't effect gameplay. There's a "yes to all" option in the morrowind.ini you can enable to get through those without having to press "yes" a million times.

Some things like fps optimizer or mge might have an option that enables it as well.

you have to change the ini (there is a tut on this site iirc) and then it gives you a Cancel button that works like Yes to All. it really does save time and energy :P

Another thing... How do I delete mods?

Also when I try to save a mod I make it

File house.esp is a master file or is in use. Please select another file to save to.

To delete mods, go to Data Files and move the .esp file in question to the trash/recycling bin.
