Could the Necrom catacombs be a place to use the bonecave tileset perhaps?
The bleached chalky look of those pieces goes quite well aesthetically with the necrom tileset, and Necrom is by the sea so it could have feasibly been built on chalk.
Possibly it could be combined with the velothi or necrom interior tilesets for the more expensive or modern tombs.

Hey that wouldnt be to bad at all!
Considering its already made and the bonecave interior was only ever used for... I think Mamaea. And we'd see an interior that actaully uses some of the 28+ bonecave like rocks!
Hmm, It would have to be made very carefully though, detailed just right and it needs to be somewhat large (in a spread out sort of term).

So mayhbe a big cavern with the bonemold rock? And in it, entrances to tombs. As far as the actual tombs are concerned: check my earlier post with plans. The deep ones are older, Velothi style. The middle area would be simple Necrom, and the upper parts are more elaborate Necrom, the special tombs (such as the royal Ra'athim Tomb) under the temple even grand. The walkways (the cavern) should be guarded by Necrom Ordinators, but the deeper, ancient parts, should be guarded by friendly Bonelords.
I believe that if the player (and any companion you might have to take for some sort of quest) should be able to get some sort of enchanted clay tokens for specific tombs. If the player does not have them in his or her possession, then the Bonelords will sense it inside the tombs. I believe such tokens can be sold in the temple: some tombs might contain shrines or tombs of special people. In the most important tombs under the Temple, there might be Ordinators too. Taking stuff from the tombs will be considered stealing.

There is no way in all hell that there is a special tomb for the kings of anything in Morrowind - they don't have kings!
Within the Dunmer system, the Raathim [note the absence of apostrophe] are just a family of influential hlaalu scumbags.

Hey Swiftoak, do you have a list of interiors that still need to be merged into this claim?

What's the deal with Drakehold Ruin and these OM caskets again? Sload or Swiftoak or someone?

Haplo, did you check the road from Necrom to Sailen? That needs some checking to ensure it looks nice.
Also, there's a bit on a cliff-edge (on that road) where an inexplicable waterfall comes out of a rock and pours off the side, and the player has to get over on a somewhat implausible rock-bridge, that is in any case impassable in-game. I'd advocate removing that.

Or maybe it was done by someone who thinks that the Dunmer don't respect their dead somehow. Don't know how you could think that when they construct elaborate tombs...

Yeah.
I had serious doubts about the caskets awhile back but procrastinated on doing anything with them. I haven't touched most of the outside-Necrom parts for almost 3 years. I must have forgotten.
As for the interiors, I made a huge list 2 pages back I think, though it could be hard to follow as I was kinda vague as to what I thought should be done.
Sorry, but I can't be of any further assistance.
Good to hear that this is almost in the bin

Haplo I fixed that rock bridge weeks ago.
Then my CS crashed and I lost all the changes I was making.
Then I moved to college and lost all my free time.

Alright, so I'm basically finished. Anyone have any other major issues like the waterfall path they want to make sure are addressed?

The waterfall over the cave entrance at 44,-6 is too big. That's my take on the aesthetics of it.

Could we get a latest file, Hap? I wouldn't mind just checking the Necrom-Sailen road, which was pretty poor in places in the last file.

Here you go. I still have to do a few cells in the southwest of the claim, and merge the remaining interiors.

Looks fine, can't really remember where my issues were, but I think I'd have noticed if they were still there.
Anyway, a few things still could do with 'tweaking'. Certainly that watchtower outside Necrom could do with removing, or with making the steps to it actually usable.
The whole path to the causeway needs some fixing to look prettier, I'd say. It's functional, but a lot of places just looks crap. Once the 'white barrier wall' kicks in, up to the place where the old waterfall/rockbridge was could do with an artistic look-over. Run through it in-game, and see how it feels to the player. (There are also a few caspering pieces/unlikely rope poles)
Also see how the use of cliff meshes opposite the strider port looks once Worsas' fix is put in. At present it is unthinkably ugly to have to walk on, and even after fixes lifting terrain to hide the worst offenders might be necessary.
Finally, there are major issues to do with the border with Zalzidrax's Map 3 claim. Like, serious 're-do some cells' issues. This isn't something that can just be fixed by smoothing terrain. it is obvious what's wrong even from the mini-map, so just check it out, make the fix and make sure it doesn't look as crap as it does now. I'd probably recommend pre-emptively merging Zalz and Swifty's files into one to facilitate this. Whatever, it needs to be done right, not a botch job.

Fixed the staircases; most of them were floating way too high, and there was one part where you had to walk precariously on a rock outcropping... is that what you were talking about?Bloodthirsty Crustacean wrote:Looks fine, can't really remember where my issues were, but I think I'd have noticed if they were still there.

I made the path wider at its narrow parts and smoothed the ground out to be flatter, especially next to the walls, a lot of which got moved out, and it looks fine. Looks great. The part of the Necrom-Sailen road from the Causeway entrance up to the 'first tree' still needs work. At present it doesn't even have a road texture, and the cliff pieces casper in places. The signpost reminding the player there is actually a road there is also hard to see, because it's pointing directly at the cliff, and is hidden from several angles. I'd rotate the whole signpost construct a touch.
Otherwise, that area is looking a lot less awful now.

Looking good. Sorry for not being able to provide any good input.
I also apologize for neglecting 90% of this claim and focusing too much on Necrom. Thank you for finding the faults. Especially since everything outside of Necrom was done pre-2007.
Personally I find the entire wall thing looking like shit and I should have realized this sooner. I think we should kill those stupid walls on the Alt'Bosara-Necrom-Salien path altogether and perhaps replace them with a few braziers/statues leading in/out of Necrom. Or make the walls ALOT smaller.
That's all I can really offer now. Sorry again, I'm not really in a contributive state.

Backup version with lowered walls that I think look much much better, a fixed signpost, and I've started on fixing the borders with Zalz' Map 3 claim.

Unless I've missed a cell, which could have happened, then this is all the border-fixing I'm doing until the detailing/NPC claims are merged into one file. All that leaves for this claim now is to see how the new Worsas cliff meshes look once TR_Data is updated. And any other errors found and reported between now and then, of course.

When the time for more fixing comes, there's a real suspect area around cell 44 -16, where a stylistic 'border' between the claims is really evident. That needs to be smoothed over.
Also, there are some parts where there's an inexplicable valley (see the world map in-game) between hills on either side. Terrain needs to be raised in the middle in order to make it look like a seamless piece of terrain.

floating flora_grass_06 in planter in front of temple
TR_ex_nec_pl_01 in front of temple is bleeding into TR_ex_nec_wall_01
don't forget to open a claim for the passage between the Old City and the Manor District. Or I can put one together in a few minutes.
one TR_ex_nec_wallend remaining on the side of Felms Dareleth's house
sewer grate near manor district entrance
Connect trapdoor in top floor of Necrom, Causeway Watchtower to exterior
SOME STYLISTIC SUGGESTIONS
consider placing a small farm area beside the side door to TR9_Sacred Lands Sanctuary. Feels a bit odd that that door leads to nothing.
consider adding a couple plants to the planter around Necrom, North Storehouse. Seems odd that there'd be a planter here without anything. Some grass could help.
consider swtiching Indoril helm in TR9_Darethran Ancestral Tomb to a Necrom Ordinator helm
TR_DATE ISSUE
Remove the script from TR_in_nec_trapdoor
the middle ex_de_rowboat bleeds into the water
TR_ex_nec_wall_06 bleeds into the city entrance; also it kept saying their was a faith banner there but I didn't see one.
Sign issues: the following businesses have signs with different names:
Necrom, Faladas Siallo: Clothier
Necrom, Carya of Lilandril: Bookseller
Necrom, Pierelle Thierry: Apothecary
TR_furn_bannerd_wa_shop_nec_02
Sarith = Zarith
TR_furn_bannerd_alchemy_nec_02

Remove the script from TR_in_nec_trapdoor
There were explicit instructions that the trapdoor was to be used ONLY in the lighthouse. It should have been obvious from the trapdoor and the script that this was the case anyway, regardless of instructions. It doesn't even look good in the lighthouse, let alone any other interior. So really I could be an asshole and say it's not my fault someone didn't follow simple instructions, and that interior will probably have to be redone.
