quest suggestion

Post by Logorouge »

Since I'm not a modder, I decided to post that here.

Here's the quest details:

The questgiver will ask the player to investigate a certain village. The reason: He didn't receive any news from his family member, friend or business contact for too long.

When the player finally reach his destination, he find that all the villagers have been turned to stone. Is it a new disease, an evil curse?
While searching the houses, the player find several notes and books where the villagers write about a mage who came to the village, making everyone uneasy. One villager asked the mage why he came to the village, the mage answered that he was conducting an experiment. That didn't reassure the villagers one bit. But then, the mage left for 'insert location'. The name of the mage should be mentioned somewhere in the notes.

The next step of the quest is to track down the mage. It could be done by using directions from the villagers notes OR by reporting back to the questgiver who would provide the directions. I leave the content of the mage lair/cave/tower to the modders discretion. But in the same room as the mage, the player should find his personal journal, describing the different steps of his experiment, the resulting mass petrification and the necessary rare ingredients to create a cure/antidote.

Then, the player report back to the questgiver. He ask the player to find the ingredients and create a sample of the cure. After finding all the needed ingredients and creating the cure, the player bring it to the questgiver who will create more cure using the sample. The player receive reward and thanks.

Finally, when the player goes back to the village, the villagers are all unpetrified. The shops and the inn can now be use.

That's it!

I usually don't post suggestions, but since I had a few details in mind for this quest, I figured it could actually be useful...maybe.
Anyway, keep up the good work guys!

Why don't you make it in CS and post it in showcase, you might be allowed to become a quest maker, then you could maybe add it to the game, but to tell you the truth it might not be on the likely end of the spectrum, for the sole fact that it would take up an entire village, but then again in the original game quests have taken up entire villages.

Sincerely, David.

Like I said, I'm no modder. I never even opened the construction set. To be a bit useful to the project, I would be required to spend several weeks learning the CS. For now, I prefer to be just a player and a fan, patiently waiting for the next extraordinary release.

Meh, I don't use it much anymore ether (my sister went into a rage and deleted it) so I don't know exactly how to make a quest ether, but, I do know that I was very proud after making my first mod, its well worth it, you should get into it.
Edit: Also, I think it would be an awesome idea, possibly, even have a spell you can learn that turns people to stone, how cool would that be?

Sincerely, David.

A petrify spell? That would be awesome. It would basically be a paralyse spell with a change to rock texture for the victim. I wonder how hard the texture change would be to implement... Would the spell be a combat spell or more like a tool for certain situation? Would it be a temporary effect or permanent? I'll like to hear more about your idea.

P.S: I'll probably learn more about modding once my life become a little less chaotic. Just thinking of all the possibilities, I know modding is something I would like to do day and night.

Kinda reminds me of the 'Zero Visibility' quest in Oblivion. Sounds more fun than most member suggestions we get though. :P

WOW this is so trippy,:?

I actaully had an idea for a quest about 2 weeks ago where a NPC walks onto a platform and the a large light shines and when it dulls down the NPC Is cast in stone. (eg replace NPC with Activator-'Static')
I got the idea when I was exploring various Daedric shrines. I noticed in the Shrine of Azura there ia a little platform to each side of her statue. they also had glowing blue lights.

Eitherway interesting ideas.

Completely impossible. Textures cannot be affected by script, and though it would be possible to replace an affected NPC with a stone-textured mannequin, there is no way to detect what that NPC looks like, what they're wearing at the time, or what position they're in. The stone NPC that replaced them would be naked, standing straight up, and have the wrong face. In other words, it would be sloppy and immersion-breaking and it isn't going to turn up in anything this team creates.

Besides, Bethesda already made this exact quest for Oblivion with invisibility instead of paralysis. This idea isn't what I would call original.
Q1-77-Tel current progress:

Practical implementation is now underway.

Wouldn't be possible with a full village. But maybe a naked Nord barbarian with default head and hair. Turned into stone by a witch. Hm...Maybe I should add that to my showcase.

This sounds alot like a game called "Golden Sun"
I don't know if any of you have played a gameboy advance, but I remeber going to a town full of petrified villagers, doing some ridiculous quest, and coming back to sleep in the inn and progress with the main story. Its a good quest idea though, I just had to point this out bc the resemblance was perfect.

Oh yeah, I remember that. I played Golden Sun, god that was years ago though. I think there is a new version coming out on DS soon as well.

This Idea will need alot of work to make it feasible and 'relatively realistic' to the game.
