Stirk World Map - SOLVED

Post by The Treasurer »

When I downloaded Stirk and played it, the Stirk world map did not work. The vanilla map just stays. Is there any way I can get the map to work?

I think there is some information in the readme about getting the map to work.
I also noticed that you should try to make sure Stirk is last in the load order, because I noticed if it isn't the World Map never shows up. I'm no too sure about this though.

You could also try looking at posts such as this perhaps something there can help you, but again I'm not so sure it works. There may be other posts in that same thread that may be able to help out.

Hopefully something here fixes it. If it doesn't you can always go to the Anvil docks and take a boat to Stirk, as the world map isn't truly "needed" for it to properly work.

Thanks, that helped a lot. Also, when TR is released, will the Hammerfell and Cyrodiil maps be joined together, or seperate when entering either of the provinces?

Each province will have its own separate map, and you will only be able to move between them at 3 points. (2 border forts and a smuggler's cave)

A bit off-topic but if Hammerfel and Cyrodiil are in different worldspaces will you still be able to see Rihad and such from Cyrodiil? Or Anvil and Stirk from Hammerfel?

Just a few questions :P

More Map Troubles...

Post by Xlored »

I'm also having problems with the map and with the LOD effects. For some reason the map shows up, but the map markers are all shifted far below the map. The LOD dosn't seem to be working at all and i'm not sure why, everything is installed properly so I don't know what the problems can be. This mod is really good and I have played through a few quests, I just wish I could get it running properly so I could get the full immersion.

I am also having an issue with the Stirk world map. Thing is when I first install the mod it was working. However somewhere along the line it reverted to Oblivion's default map.

I've tried doing what the readme says to do about a map issue, and it does make the island appear again, but shifts all the map markers to the left. (It took me a complete reinstall to fix that)

I believe that I read somewhere on here before I joined that Wrye Bash can be used to import graphics, however this did not appear to do anything.

I'm not to my knowledge using any other map replacer.

Any ideas how to fix it?

i'd change the "usable area" pixels of the map back to normal if you changed them in the beginning. or if you didnt i'd set them to the settings indicated in the readme.

as for LOD, it turns out that full LOD was not included with the download. you need to generate it yourself (very easy) if you want it to show up.

Well I changed the usable area after discovering I could no longer see Stirk on my map. When it actually vanished is another matter. I'd been in the Shivering Isles for some time you see.

Well I can still get to Stirk so it doesn't really matter, but I do have a second question; are there any plans to add Stirk in with your Hammerfell mod when you release it? That way it could be on Hammerfell's map instead of Cyrodiil's, removing this issue (well in theory, I don't have the first clue about Elder Scrolls modding).

stirks is located in the Tamriel worldspace, while hammerfell ocupies its own. as far as i know there is no way to move cells between world spaces, and rebuilding it from the ground up is a huge task. stirk will appear on hammerfell's map, but only as a placeholder.

Level Of Detail- in order to save on processing and graphics power, the models of objects in the world become simpler as you move further away from them.

Taken to its logical extreme, this is what allows you to see world several miles away, without bringing your computer to a grinding halt.

Oblivion has LOD data for distant land and the simplified versions of objects that will appear on it, and this is what we will be updating to have the Hammerfell landmass on it when viewed from Cyrodiil.

All of you, download from this forum Stirk 1.2
well than doo whatever is written in read me file, than you are not possible to see stirk, and fas travel to it, but oll of objec are on their places,
Well go in my documents/my games/oblivion/ and open oblivion ini file, find BBorderRegions or somthing like that, i cant remember, turn it of(1 -> 0), now you are possible to cross the border osn oblivion cyrodil map.
Than go on this site and look this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zp2dG4w8q0&feature=fvsr

well dont make teleport spell to a market district, make it for isle stirk(in cell window finde tamriel, than find tr[some numbers]Town2* and make teleport spell to The Isle of Stirk)

From what I have learned, if you disable borders with Stirk, then the game is screwed up. TR edited the borders to make it possible to travel to Stirk, and disabling the borders causes huge conflict.

Well i don't say to disable borders with stirk, if you change NW from -72 on -59, an 2278 to 2055, you are not possible to see stirk landmark, underdstand?
well if you try to cross borders of cyrodil you have see message turn and go back, well tou mustdesable borders bBorderRegionEnabled from 1 to 0, than with TES Constructor Set make teleport spell for teleportation on the isle of stirk, swimm everytime to stirk is boring, and if you try to go from stirk with boat, you will not be able to see boat in anvil, ad turn back to stirk, well because all of that you must make teleport spell. download stirk 1.2

Can someone tell me why i dont have voices when i am go on stirk?

The mp3s in the 'voice' folder are what are commonly known as "silent mp3s". They exist solely to keep the caption text on screen long enough for you to read it.

Thanks a lot.

I now understand all, well i am learning how to modding, can someone tell mi some good tutorials where i can find them.
I am begginer, but i know to work with programs like pascal, mathematica, delphi, and a little c++ & visual basic...

If i learn enough, i can help to fix some problems, if is that ok, or make some usefull spels, weapons, or something like that.

There is a list of a wide variety of tutorials on our 'MAIN' page (simply hightlight main, and the 'tutorials' tab will be about half-way down the list).

If you feel you can handle 3d model creation, then awsome, such skills are in high demand, especialy for the Oblivion side of the project. Whatever area of modding you decide to focus on however, you will be more than welcome to join in the fun, just make yourself a thread in the showcase section and your on your way!

O this programing and quest making and everything are so hard i need time maybe one mount to learn basics of this programing, the rest of this i can learn alone, but i need time to learn basics of tescs modding :)

But hammerfell is only one province, and tamriel have morrowind, Skyrim, High Rock, and Summerset Isle, and 3 more provincies :)
and when i learn tescs modding i will be usefull to help with all of this projects :)

Were only doing Hammerfell for Oblivion. Its just TOO much work to even THINK about doing eveything for one game. The only way something like this would happen is if we Finish Hammerfell before TES5 comes out (not likely). But you have plenty of time, and one of the often overlooked functions of the showcase page is so new modders like yourself can learn from the more experienced modders already on the project. That said, the easiest place to start for an inexperienced modder would be interiors, especialy Oblivion interiors (due to the pre-built -instead of modular- interior shells).
