rage_dragon's showcase

Post by rage_dragon »

Hi everybody! I have some experience in modding, mostly for oblivion tho, but I have used the tes3 construction set. My abilities are pretty good, but still limited and I joined TR to see if I could learn new things. I was also wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for voice acting? And as a final note, I prefer working with interior, Quest modding, lore and books, and Dialogue writing. Thanks for letting me join! :)

P.S. i would upload some of my past works, but my comp crashed recently, totaly wiping out everything that i had :'(

Well let me be the first in welcoming you to TR! For voice acting Im not real sure on what to do, but i'd assume, if we are doing voice acting, that you just upload some samples and someone would check them out? Help me out here guys?

However I know for sure that we need Interior designers, Questers and basically everything you said youd like to help out with. So I look forward to seeing some of your works. And sucks about the PC - I had the same problem not long ago.

Someone shall be along to clarify about the voice acting. But in the meanwhile, Welcome!

All you need to do is choose which section of modding you would like to be promoted for and upload a sample of your work in the showcase thread (this one, members are allowed only one showcase thread) and one of the modders in that area will take a look at your work and give you comments on how to improve your work. If your work is up to TR standards you will be recommended to the admin in charge of that area who will make the final decision to promote you or not. Feel free to upload files for any area you would like to work in but try to keep files for each area seperate so that it's easier for the reviewers to do their stuff. There are guidelines at the top of this forum to help you know what TR is looking for in each area. There are also some very good tutorials on the main page to help you improve your skills. Part of TR's goal is to help members improve their skills so ask whatever questions you want and you'll usually get an answer that helps. :)

Welcome to TR!

Gah, im mad at my computer!!! It wont let me download the tes4 construction set from the tes website, and Morrowind wont download, so i cant get that construction set either! Do you need to have oblivion in order to use the T4 CS? or can i use it without any master files? Same for T3 with Morrowind.

OPPS, Pardon the 2X post, but i forgot to ask how I would submit a showcase for lore or books, and how long a book should roughly be. Thanks, hope to soon have stuff to show :)

You do need Oblivion for an interior or exterior or quest showcase. Same with morrowind. To make a Lit showcase, write a book that is both Lore friendly and meaningful and submit it on here. But its hard to get promoted for lore/literature alone.

to be promoted for litrature you have to be an amazing writer, very knowledgeable in lore, and very dedicated to the project. if youre a pretty good author we will usually add you to the literature usergroup upon promotion for something else. to be promoted for lore only you need to be recognized as a lore master by the community, so there is no showcase process.

a book should be about the length of an average in game book. a couple hundred words at most, i'd say. it should be original and insightful, so no uber dunmer assassin or vampire stories.

Ok, gotcha. I don't think i will work with book for a while then, and I still need to fix my computer. Do you have any clue what type of video card i would need for tru color/32-bit? one that's relatively cheap?

I'm pretty sure any graphics card you buy new today will support 32 bit colour. Practically any will support Morrowind, and I remember buying one (an ATI Radeon X1650XT) that would play Oblivion on maximum settings for £50 about 2 years ago.

you need to check what sort of slot you have for the card, an old comp like that will probably have AGP. my current main computer is old, windows XP, and runs a Geforce 7800 AGP. that card would probably be like 20$ now days.

I use Blender V-2.46
It supports every type of picture that I have uploaded into it. Which ones don't work is a good question but I doubt you will have trouble. For modeling purposes:
.dds
.tga
are both supported.

depends on what you need to do. check morrowind/oblivion's requirements. in general, get the best card you can afford. i wouldnt spend too much though since your computer is outdated (in fact, i would go for a whole new computer :P)

Woah, one thing at a time :p I think ill go for the video card first, as my current salary (sporadic payments of allowance) wouldn't be able to buy me a whole new computer, or even a low end laptop at that! :) but thnx for the advice.

Please don't double (or triple in your case) post. There is an edit button so you can add updates to your last post if need be. Getting the construction set up and working isn't worthy of an update, most of us can figure that out and it's a pretty mundane task.
