Stirk Voice Acting - Assignments & Submissions

Post by Gesshoku »

This is where I will be listing the final assignments. This is also where the people that have been assigned dialog will submit it for review and mastering. Please do not spam here, thank you.

1) Recorded in WAV format. If you don't, we wont be able to make lipsynch files from it. This file will not work unless it is 16 bit, mono, 44,100 Hz.

2) Be CLEAR. For obvious reasons, best case scenario, no background noise, popping/blowing in the mic if possible.

3) Leave files UNEDITED. Yes, that's right, we'll do the technical stuff, depending on the recording and how we want the race to sound.

4) Don't try too hard to sound exactly like Beth's voice actors. You are not them, just be unique and true to the race's character. The system of VA means that you'll also be doing combat sounds and other bits and pieces, we'll sort this later.

5) The directory of voices should copy that within the spreadsheet (Data\Sound\Voice\TR_Stirk.esp\) without any version number, and keep the name of the file that's in the spreadsheet for that file.

6) Once you've done the recordings, stick them in a maximum compression .RAR file, and host them on a file-hosting website, not TR. Macar, me and hopefully someone else in admin with a large hard drive will download them for editing.

All done. I did the Male Bretons, the Khajiit and Argonian, and also gave the Woodelf a shot (Morrowind style!). Have a listen ;)

BTW, I didn't have much time on my hands, so some of the lines are compiled on one file, I found it a better way of recording than doing them all separately, especially for continual dialogue.

No worries LN :)

Ah, um, I didn't do Polle's dialogue in the end because he was changed to a (High?) Elf at some point.

Do we have any Elven voice actors? If not get Adan to do a brief return, his Elf voice was one I liked ;)

the only assigned VA's we have are for Kahjiit/Argonian now. Everything else is up for grabs.

If Adan is interested, Adan should do em.

Polle is breton, the High Elf was an error. I'll talk to Ada about it, last i heard he was on vay-cay and im not sure if he has access to a mic. I'll also talk to Massey about doing the Imp. female voices and Macar the redguards. i remember jale was covering imperials at one point, so ill try to track him down. Kyle can cover Khajiit, Argonians, and imperials (if i cant reach jale).

basically, im tracking down as many people as possible in a frantic attempt to try and relz stirk with at least partial VA. if you can think of someone i missed, or want to talk to them yourself, just tell me gess.

Ah right, in that case I'll record Polle's VA, as soon as I can. I've done the Khajiit and Argonian voice in there, as well as the Woodelf, although I dunno if they're any good, I'll leave it to your discretion.

It's great that you're driving the Stirk project to completion, someone has to! Kudos to the LN!

Nice to see you back Dave ;)

I can do Elven voices

Post by kyletamarane »

Hi,

I tried out for Father Gregorio, one of the dialogue lines for Stirk. He's a High Elf or Dark Elf, I think. Try looking through the files I've uploaded using this link, which takes you to my profile:

http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/old_forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=9441

I am interested in doing Elven voices for Stirk, if the VA people in charge think I'm good enough.

Cheers,

Kyle T

I'd be really interested in helping out in this area! Just let me know if you're still doing it and how I can be of service. One question: will a Bluetooth headset connected to the computer do the trick?
I was merely interested in offering my services as voice talent as my computer programming skills are minimal. I was also hoping to add to the Elder Scrolls experience.

we arent really looking for voice actors, but if you can do a really good audition (particularly for the imperials, though other races are also needed) and would be willing to do a whole bunch of dialog, then we would be glad to have you.

a bluetooth headset might be ok, but you have to do an audition to be sure. i know my headset mic leaves quite a bit of background noise. ideally there should be no noise what so ever, but if there is a little it can be edited out.

If you need me just let me know... if I can't do a good job with the audition, well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

what i was saying is: do an audition, then i'll decide if we need you :P stirk does need some updates, and i would be up for including voice acting, but its not on the top of my list. basically a "if we have it, cool; if not thats ok" thing.

check this thread, it has a text file of audition dialog. simply read all the parts you would like to audition for. upload the dialog in an archive into your own thread on these forums.

The thread says you're not taking auditons, that they are low-priority. I don't know what other options are open for me to join then as I have very little programming knowledge... that is, is there anything? I still want to be a member and help.

You don't need any programming knowledge to do interiors or exteriors, they're all simply about moving items in a 3d space. We have some tutorials, and there are lots available on the web.

If you have any questions about making interiors, I would be happy to help =D

my word obviously overwrites what ever the thread says. auditions are low priority however.

as Cath said, world building requires no programing knowledge. neither does concept art, modeling, or writing.

Does "writing" mean plot, quests or dialogue?

literature. anyone can write quest plots, but actually implementing the quests and their dialog requires scripting knowledge.

Well, I'm a self-published author in the fantasy field if that counts for anything. I've actually sold a few and received "thumbs-up" all around, so far. Is that kind of literature you're talking about? If not, I'll quit bugging you folks... I don't think I'd be very good at making interesting interiors.
